  1. Got it in one, [censored]. My opinion is about as worthwhile as everyone else's.
  2. This is a hard one. I have such little respect for Demonland posters re MFC players that it's a little difficult to respect their opinion on opposition players.
  3. OK Forgiven.
  4. Two reasons: * They don't rate highly what they expect to be available at pick 18 this year. Nor do I. * They have seen far more in him that they like than some supporters that post on Demonland. If they truly are interested I'll back their judgmnent.
  5. 'Retrospective'. Thanks for your interest.
  6. Who says ? Oh, you. Sorry, Nuff.
  7. But I just did.
  8. We can cop a slowish FF when surrounded by pace in Jurrah and Watts if he's a clean mark and has good footy smarts. It's about getting the right balance into your forward line. I haven't seen enough of him to know how meritorious the trade would be, but in reality I'm not expecting much of a player at pick 18 this year, which is one of the reasons I'm glad we've got pick 11. I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand.
  9. Yes. Yes wrong. Graham Cornes and plenty of others have compared Trengove favourably to not only McLeod, Riccuito, and Gibbs from their SANFL days at the same age, but Cornes has stated, "no, he's raised the bar, he's at Nathan Buckley's level", or words to that effect - the exact quote is on this forum. So, by any reasonable measure Trengove would have been an early pick in 08, especially when one considers that he's not being compared to another South Australian in Hartlett who went at pick 4 last year as he's clearly considered a rung above. Do you think it's fair to say that if given a choice last year between Hartlett or Trengove that Port would have taken Trengove at 4 ? I've no doubt that if Scully and Trengove were in last year's draft they would have gone top 4. Both have shown considerably more than Stephen Hill who went at pick 3, and despite the 'home grown' angle I can't see Freo having passed either up. Also, because this draft is considered shallow doesn't mean that the top 3 are inferior to any other year. Imo, the top 3 of this year will compare favourably to the top 3 of just about any other year. The Dees have been kissed on the dick.
  10. *The club got spooked because Davey is the little darling of 95% of supporters. The thought of the supporter backlash on top of McLean leaving made them twitch *Four years was too long *Davey can't handle a tag *He's not an A grader, let alone a 'star' *I will be physically ill if he's ever made Captain (I have no doubt he won't) *He's still a little soft, although he did improve this part of his game in 09 I agree however that he'd be far more damaging in a good team. Scully, Trengove, Grimes, Morton and Blease should make life far easier for him in the not too distant future.
  11. No, it helps reflect why we came last. Interestingly, the Blues top 5 place getters in their B&F were Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, and Fevola. Three of them were pick 1's and one other was a pick 3. It really is apparent how valuable top 4 picks are and that our own rebuild should reap tremendous rewards. And yes, McLean was a top 5 pick and a soild 200 gamer. But he was certainly no star and we need them. The draft he came from must be in the worst 2 ever.
  12. I know Sammy's uncle and he confirms that he and Scully are great mates and already talking about moving in together in a couple of years. The Dees have a big preseason planned for Sam. I'm sure they'll both push each other to succeed.
  13. In the one breath you overrate McLean, but you then seem underwhelmed by the prospects of top draft picks. Some recent no. 1's Hodge is a star Riewoldt is a star Cooney has already won a Brownlow Deledio has won his club's last 2 Best and Fairests And to top it off, look at the placings of Carlton's B&F from the other night. The top 5 were Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Fevola, and Kreuzer. Guess what ? Three are former no. 1 picks and another was a pick 3. Starting to see a pattern ? We've got a couple of stars coming our way. There's a chance that we've got the equivalent of Judd and Nathan Buckley walking through the front door - together. Worst case they'll both be A graders. And yes, I've seen both live.
  14. So he's staying. He'd better become an A grader then.
  15. Essendon won't trade him, which should give you an indication of how they rate him. And as stated, I've seen him play. He was very very good. Have a look at some Eesndon forums. Their supporters consider him untouchable. You have no idea about him as a player save for his injuries. He'd be a risk, but if he passed all medical doubts he'd be a massive coup. But as stated, Essndon won't trade him.
  16. Absolutely - subject to medicals of course. He's a very highly rated tall that went pick 2 in the draft for a reason. I saw one of his first games and he's a quality key forward. In fact I very strongly doubt Essendon would consider trading him. I assume that you know little about him other than him not having been on the park due to injuries ?
  17. * Don't want him as Captain * He's trying to get his last big contract due to "looking after his Family first" * Would not give him four years * More than happy to trade him Would love > Davey to Essendon - Dees pick 10 and Gumbleton, but as this wouldn't get the job done, possibly Davey plus pick 18 for pick 10 and Gumbleton. I suspect we'll thrash things out and he'll stay, but more than happy to see him go. EDIT: don't want Alwyn
  18. I'd trade Davey for the right compensation. I don't rate him nearly as highly as most Demon fans. I accept that I'm in the 1% minority. That said, I think he'll stay.
  19. He's just parroting the same thing he said late last week. No news there.
  20. It said that Melb should go after Charman, which is quite different to your suggestion.
  21. It's effing 'Trengove'. There's no second effing R in his effing name.
  22. What ? I don't want Wells in case there's any confusion. I want the best player available at pick 11. We need talls, but if it's considered that the best available at 11 isn't a tall then I don't want to "punt" on a tall.
  23. These calls for "taking a punt" at pick 11 bemuse me. When this "punt" doesn't work out it will be the supporters in 4 years time bemoaning the poor pick by our recruiter. Our recruiter won't be taking a "punt" on anyone at 11. That's not to say that they'll get the choice right, btw.
  24. I'm not referring to Demonology.
  25. I don't rate Talia. Not at 11 anyway. He's not the most athletic mover I've seen and an average to poor kick. He'll be a good defender, but I'd want a better key forward at 11.
