After watching the Pies last night I’m not overly concerned about this.

The last two games where I’ve seen him clunking marks, using his body to our-position or crash packs and timing the high point of the ball is wonderful to witness at last. But even his 2018 finals campaign he was luckily the recipient of a few fluke marks and easy goals and of course the salubrious hit on Dangerflop. I think he’s finally starting to evolve into a man of confidence and a real team player. Clearly the club would’ve preferred it to happen faster but alas it hasn’t. Sam is right where he’s needed to be all along his career thus far. Wallace is a gormless media bit player.

Nah, upon reflection I think I’ll be done. It’s already been too exhausting this year and I won’t let the misery get to me. Change channel.

I honestly think AFL football is just one big junket for the majority of players and the idea of winning a flag that hasn’t been won for nearly six decades is trivial. The club still hangs its hat on the ‘history’ of the club and expects players who didn’t grow up barracking for the MFC and have only been around in the last three decades to actually give a stuff about it. The players have other more important things to think about like getting likes on instagram or buying new shoes and even cooking onions multiple ways. I really am questioning the desire, the absolute hunger to achieve greatness and win flags by this group. I’m happy to be proven wrong but and want to be but there just seems to a lack of intent and menace in the club.

At least the weekend won’t be wasted by having to watch Melbourne play. There’s always positives.
