  1. Last minute but 2 tkts available for d'lander - level 4 Olympic Q50 row B. DM me with email or mobile. F.o.c. but maybe a charity donation if the budget allows.
  2. Trivia facts (I used to work in Yea): 1. The golf course had a tournament rule 'balls taken by magpies may be replaced without penalty' I don't golf so maybe that's normal; has stuck in my brain for 50 years. 2. In the same week that I lodged a drought relief application, the town was flooded. Canoes in the main street etc. Thanks for the training reports, folks.
  3. I wonder why they bother naming players in positions. Over the last few games I have seen different positions on AFL vs MFC website one week and magnets that changed position pre-game pretty much every week. My conclusion is that the likelihood of the team actually lining up as published is down to zero and falling.
  4. Statistically that gives you a 3.7% chance. Should work as well as anything you might utilise, employ or otherwise endeavour to apply :)
  5. The answer is zero. What the coaches value is defensive pressure and goal assists. Last week when a journalist asked Goody about Kossie returning to form, Goody said 'He hasn't been down in the things we value. 6 possessions and 8 tackles prior week." Not to mention the push that created the path for Petracca's goal. Toby will be fine if he sticks to what I am happy to say is now the Melbourne way.
  6. Much as I loved watching Cam play we can do without a return of the Camikaze handball thanks.
  7. Predominantly for the purpose of procrastinating from the project I should be progressing I'll add my prognostication: I'd love to see Majak selected to reward the work to recover from the deep dark place but, given the selection committee's history, I'm with the consensus: Out: Smith and the Covid trio In: Lever, Viney, Bedford, TMac and toss a coin for the sub. Out of excuses, back to work.
  8. Well, this is more interesting than the normal ins and outs thread, in a worrying sort of way.
  9. Does anyone have the definitive list of 3 players / 1 abode? Given Jackson confirmed and that instagram post I guess Bedford is a monty which leaves one young best 22.
  10. Good point although I think the mantra was slightly more nuanced. I recall Bernie Vince and others yelling '3 seconds' at training indicating that was the time the player had to receive, decide and dispose.
  11. Tomlinson sat out the second half at Casey. Late change?
  12. I've been wondering which Melbourne player is most likely to fall foul of this rule / interpretation and my vote is TMac. Over many years I have seen him suggest what the decision should be, remonstrate against the decision made etc. . It will take some retraining and I hope doesn't cost a 50 in a critical match. No problem for this week obviously.
  13. Good mail. Well done.
  14. Time to re-watch 'Show Me the Money". Dunstan's reaction when his manager told him Tim Lamb had called is priceless. Even though you're on minimum chips, play like your future depends on it son. Because it does. Good luck.
  15. 7 pages in, different starting 18 on the AFL website and MFC website, and we won't really know till 5PM. Much as all basketball matches should start at 90 all and 2 minutes to go, I'm starting to think selections threads should start on the day the real team is released with only hours to go.
  16. The whole TMac or Weid debate is too hard. Soooo, get creative, drop them both and bring in Brown and VanRooyen. And to the first post of Seriously??? No.
  17. Maybe this thread should be titled Things We Value because that seems to be the coaches' perspective. Whether it's Lingers running 16km and not coming off, the examples above, Kozzie diving in about 6 times in the one contest last week or May launching himself horizontally Superman style to make a spoil, the big little things are what sets us apart at the moment. Oh, and Choco having made a good kick out of Lingers, Hunt, Max ....................
  18. Would have been late 50's as a spectator. Before I could sell enough papers to regularly get to the 'G. When bodgie Bob was the local copper and the neighborhood was scary. Funny to go back ther now and see how the hood has become gentrified / hipster town. And there I'll leave the history lesson and allow posters to get back to the thread intent. Or should I start a Hoods in the Hood thread for us oldies to reminisce in?
  19. I might predate you but I was there when the captain-coach's inspiring pregame address (sans teeth) was literally; Now, we've got a young boy playing his first game today and, if anyone touches him, remember our motto - one in; all in and if we sometimes lose the game we always win the fight.
  20. My selection from the BF Tigers Board: * Don’t think we’ll be favourites. Posted by a master of understatement. * Langdon, Trac and Oliver are their three key midfield suppliers. Must curb them. Someone to crunch Fritsch from behind. Presumably posted by an ex Richmond Citizens FC player, motto 'one in all in' and more than once banned from the comp. back in the day. * If we win this it would be some Magician pulling a win out of his ... (BF censors not as assiduous as DLand)
  21. Much better feeling than wondering when we'll win one. And we've all been there.
  22. Panthers Broncos 6 all.
  23. The closest the ball has been to Eagles' goal is when the Swans' defender kicked it backwards.
  24. More from BF. Seems quite fair: "First thoughts about the game this Saturday are these... Melbourne's main strength is our main weakness in that they dominate teams with their intercept marking in their defence and our most glaring weakness who everyone can see except the coaching staff it seems is our inability to contest in our forward half and being able to hold the ball in. WORRYING. Sitting the ball on Himmelberg and Hogans head to watch Melbourne take 30 intercept marks is going to no doubt bring out the pitch forks from the GWS faithful. Secondly kicking any kind of score against Melbourne seems somewhat impossible with them having conceded 71, 69, 70 & 36 points in the first 4 rounds of the year which makes it the lowest in the league. All the while our points for is ranked 14th in the league... So buckle yourselves in for Leon to make this the most boring game of football you have ever witnessed in your life. He might try for a soccer score type game of 2 goals a piece and hope we win the penalty shoot out at the end of the game. With Preuss out we will get absolutely monstered in the ruck by Gawn & Jackson and Melbourne's wings will be all but licking their lips moving about the vast expanses of the MCG turf like field raised chickens while our wingers make sure we get more numbers behind the ball. I feel (and hope) this could be Leon's last game as coach but no doubt our players will turn up and actually put in effort, not let the opposition walk around them and break our pathetic tackling and keep our season and Leon's career alive... 25. Dunstan made the trip. Sighted boarding bus. Possible medi-sub.
