  1. While Fritta, Petty & Bowey are ripping it up i highly doubt it. Jeffo has been told he won't come under any serious consideration until he kicks at least 6 goals in three consecutive games. Moniz has been asked to back off his form as he's making Bowey look like a scared first year rookie that takes his full time quota to find any safe 15 to 20 meter outlet kicks around the back right now. Even when free players present forward of the ball! And rightly so! Cause slow playing & protecting the footy is the Melbourne way. None of this run & gun, overlap, taking the game on, breaking lines stuff. The forwards at senior level will hate the ball coming in quicker as they're just not used to it.
  2. Me neither. If he can't get a look in ahead of Bowey coming back from such a long lay off and mostly struggling since returning, then why is he being constantly groomed as a rebounding HB? Never gets a call up so what's the point of this. Play him as a small crumbing / pressure forward for just a few matches and see what he can bring. Casey's done and dusted for this season anyways. What's to lose. If it doesn't work who cares. Send him down back again. if it does work and he starts firing, who knows. You might be able to bring him in for a struggling Chandler up forward and find someone who can hit the scoreboard a little more often plus bring similar pressure i50 to Chin. Or better.
  3. Good point. May as well play a full on defensive game as you say. Just get the ball to ground as often as possible, try and take the odd grab and distribute or take a shot if in range.
  4. Or alternatively go mostly around Andrews or look for options other than Petty. Petty can also play a high CHF role and take Andrews to places he isn't so comfortable. If Petty has any tank at all after 3 months of footy he could try and get him on the way back also. Not sure he does but who knows. While i won't be holding my breath, i've been wrong before and we just might be about to see things turn for Harry.
  5. Had to laugh. Jack Riewoldt was discussing this on Fox last night. Him, Lynch and Grimes were constantly fighting for 'the best Stager' Oscar when they played together. Walsh & Cripps also aiming for that award weekly. Walsh should be in the mix this week!
  6. Might still have some issues with the ribs & back
  7. Last chance saloon here
  8. Standing up in the tackle!?? Dropped his knees for the free.
  9. Massive "free kick North" quarter from the umps here. Particularly No.12
  10. Great outlet mark down the line from Jeffo. Resulting tackle from bill was 100% deliberate OOBs against Norf but of course ignored
  11. Nice play there off HB
  12. That's the best bit of play all day starting with a great blind turn from Laurie and a super fat side HB to break open the play
  13. Has really imposed himself after half time. Great to see
  14. Wonder where Jeffo sits if he gets 5 or 6!?? Could be interesting
  15. Looks ok in patches 👍🏼
  16. Yep skills are pretty ordinary in general so far. Been costly too. At least three goals directly after sloppy turnovers in that quarter. Our finish coming inside (eg; Billings and Moniz) was bog ordinary. Then you had Shack & Woe going up in a 2 v 1 contest under a bombed ball. Surely one of them (Woe!?) would recognise it be more sensible to hang off and potentially crumb? Woe potentially injured out of that. Where / who are they learning this rubbish forward play from? Coach killing stuff.
  17. Team pressure Quarter For Agn Diff 1 163 174 -11 2 185 195 -10 3 224 197 +27 4 181 218 -37 Match 189 195 -6 Source: Herald Sun Not bad overall but North still had the edge. We were more efficient at converting. Third quarter off the charts. Above AFL average (180) is a reasonable result, a good sign that we might be starting to rurn the corner here Something to build on. The last quarter drop off is a worry though and probably reflects the fitness / tank of select players and some of the rookies.
  18. 6. Rivers by the length of the Flemington & with significant mid minutes ... 80% CBA! Welcome to the mid field son!!!!! Should've happened weeks ago but took a Tracc tragedy for Goody to pull the trigger. Keep him there FCS 5. Viney. Best game since Rnd 4 but still a bit off with the most turnovers on the night of any player (8). 4. May ...Larkey in red hot form coming in ...kept to zero goals. Massive win for May and we don't win the match if he doesn't achieve the above (& Brown doesn't stick that tackle). 1 goal and we were done. 3. Maxy. Not his best match but still solid as and Xerri is a seriously good ruckman, including at ground level. Norf have found a beauty here. 2. Salem. Gutsy, reliable and serviceable until subbed. Just needs to pull the trigger more often and quickly. Bit slow to move ball on at times which sees opponent getting numbers behind the ball too often & forwards left to wonder... "what if!?" His mate Bowey is the worst offender here though. Let's hope Moniz has a solid game today. Goodwin needs to bring him straight in for Bowey if so. Massive liability down back on present form. Howes not far behind! 1. ANB...a typical dour 'Nibbla' type game 💪🏼
  19. Team Rating, Top 6 players rating, bottom 6 players rating (from the best 22) are all at record lows. Certainly the lowest for this season and, without trolling through past results, potentially since 2017? I can't see us getting close to the Lions but we could be bolstered down back with the return of Lever (assuming he makes it) and potentially a few more in form players coming in via Casey if some perform at a high enough standard tomorrow. Rivers spending significant time through the middle for the second time this season, achieving the No.1 rating for the second week running! Keep it going please Simon. That's a great result for Rivers and for us. However, this positive news was offset big time by the performance of Clarry. That would be up there with his worst ever (statistical) performance since joining the club. What can we do here? Sestan for Clarry with a good showing against North tomorrow at Casey? Another very poor result for Bowey. 44% off his 2023 season rating. Moniz would surely be close to getting a call up if he performs again tomorrow yes? Langdon, Windsor and JVR not great as well although JVR at least presented well on a few occasions, clunked a couple and made the most of his shots with fairly limited game time (68%). Very nice work from Maysie coming in at No.2 for the Demons and keeping Larkey goalless while also posting their worst rating of the night (bar their sub). Incredibly that was not Petty's worst rating for the season. That came in round 7 vs the Tigers when he posted a negative rating with a -0.22 Posting a lower rating than the debutante Brown on 10% game time as sub! Viney wins the turnover king award today with 8. Petty, Clarry, Langdon and Xerri all finishing with a hefty 7 turnovers. The Roos just edging out the Demons with a total of 70 vs the Demons with 67. 20. T-Mac a huge space to kick the ball into about 25 out from goal. Get it in there quick and let a forward or Max hit up into that space but nup. Hang on to the ball forever then kick it deep to the pocket to 6 players!!! FFS
  21. "Back to the 9" when its a Norf player near the point post but for us the Norf player is allowed to set his own mark, over the actual mark and about 3 meters from the boundary line lol
  22. Amazing how the rule is supposed to be fake HBs arent counted but when its us its different lol
  23. Can't do much more than get it forward quickly under some pressure though. Turner needed to trap it. Poor ground level skills / body work
