The delimma with two face Tyson is this.... Dark side: Can be horrid in congestion a little too often when quick decision making / disposal and instinctive/speedy play is required. Often unable to get onto his left with any urgency or at all at times, he will either sell a player into trouble with a panic / hospital handball or just run straight into a tackler or two as he has no other option or just isn't agile enough (mind/body) to evade. Good example Was the mis directed handball right at the end on the defensive paint of 50 which gifted the Saints another junk time goal. Against a better club in a tight encounter that could be the match! Bright Side: Get him out in the open a little with a bit more time / space and allowed to get onto his left ( allowing more time to asses and steady on his preferred side), and he can look quite silky and finish nicely a la his lovely goal on the run and hitting the odd player i50. In general play he is also quite good at reading the play and flight of ball and getting the odd intercept mark for a quick rebound. This is why some see him as a solid contributor / finisher (on the outside), because depending on the circumstances he can be at times, and others see him as an NQR, because he is also that at other times in congestion (on the inside). Where to from here?

I clearly remember turning to bro at the game (rnd 3 2007 MCG) when both teams ran out before the bounce and making a major point about how much beef/muscle they had added as a team compared to 2006. He was in full agreement. Obviously this was way before the Essendrug scandal or any notion of 'the weapon' connection.

It was noticeable across one pre-season as most players went from being ordinary / stringy in size to very muscular and beefy. As for The first three mentioned I can't see a massive difference that would make me look twice from last season sorry. Gawn lost a fair bit of weight and put back a little in muscle which was noticeable but hardly a Bruce Banner change up. The comparisons you make are not even close to the noticeable difference in size overall of the Cats (Late) 06 vs early 07.

That is a very good point Ernest and a point that I should have also made as a balance to the Geelong focus. Probably many hidden skeletons scattered through football history that will remain buried.

Correct Tracc. The size difference between 06 / 07 was significant across the team and something I noticed when I first saw them run out in 2007.

Obviously very good news to hear he isn't far off. But i caution anyone who thinks he will return as the Viney we all know launching us even further ahead on ladder etc, at least in his first 3 to 5 matches. Most players usually have an average return to the game (vs their usual standards) when coming off a very interrupted pre-season (or none at all) and tend to have some up and down results during the remainder of their season. After such a long lay off i can't see this being any different for Jack (albeit his main game is a rung above most, so lessor results should still be pretty damn good). Will be a great day when he finally runs out! Then there's the effect on team moral. Now that might have a substantial impact even if Jack is having some ups and downs so you might get the outcome you are hoping for Petracc!

Some only see what they want to see no matter what the reality is Jnr. Looks like this is his break out year though and settling in to his role down back. Very much a keeper now (who else do we have for this one on one role!) but also has the odd moment here and there that leaves me scratching my head. Only 43 games also which means there's so much learning and football ahead. Can only get better. The least of our worries down back right now.

I'm with you SWY. Why are some clubs (and in our case one of the poorest) running down the moral (minority) no through road when the AFL is clearly sticking to the main pro gambling Hwy in every sense of the word? It's embedded in every TV coverage and post-mortem (and pre-mortem) tv / radio broadcast of every match and fully endorsed by Gill & his AFL cohorts. It's a nice fuzzy outcome but has PJ explained how we are covering the lost revenue in the pressers / media release?

In the main this is true CB, however there are some very clever (and/or extremely lucky....or both!) pokie players out there who sometimes win and win quite big at times. And i am talking winnings in the $10k plus region within a fortnight or so on occasions. I agree that most normal punters/dabblers would seldom win though (unless they got lucky on the right machine and the right time once in a blue moon) and some addicts would be selling the farm to fund their addiction. Not good for some that's for sure. The MFC out of it isn't going to stop ppl using those same machines though. Leighoak and the Bentleigh Club will just lease it out to another bidder or take the license over themselves (Bentleigh via new owners IF the MFC divests i mean) .

If they make up the loss i would happily applaud the club Jaded. But i'll believe that when i see the end of year report to members (at least a good 12 months after we have fully divested ourselves of pokies revenue, which might be 2 reports away!)

The MFC divesting their interest will not stop pokies being played by the masses CB. Even if all AFL clubs followed suit. Many humans love to pass the time away on the punt. Be it horses, poker, the dogs, sportsbet (etc etc etc) two up or an illegal [censored] fight. Do you think we will ever ban all forms of gambling right across Australia/society?

Dee i fear we will be waiting decades for that to happen, if it ever does. In the meantime pokie addicts and/or occasional flutterers (like myself) will just go to another venue, including some who will drop their hard earned (or otherwise) at a rival club's venue (potentially). I would like to know how much we are losing from this decision yearly and projected to lose over the next decade and how we are planning to replace the money foregone as a result of this.

I hear u Dappa but JKH has managed to muster a pretty strong lynch mob of his own with no Watts factor involved and personally i felt Watts hand balled the "King of whipping boys" mantle over about 18 months ago! That doesnt mean he wasnt STILL a whipping until his departure!

Sorry but he has been whipped in his own right for quite some time now. Watts had nothing to do with it. No closer to looking like a goer at AFL level than he did 28 matches ago.

Early days but I have yet to see anything that convinces me Weids will be a gun as predicted by Macca a few years back or have a significant impact at AFL level other than a few reasonable camio matches if he gets a run at it. Looks like a potential VFL reasonable quality player but AFL might be a step too far. Maybe this year will prove me wrong. Hope I'm proven wrong as we sure could do with another decent tall forward to assist Hulk or fill in if injured. Lets hope he can begin to show something over the next season or two at AFL level.

Has either player had a full pre-season McQueen? Tim Smith missed I think yes? How about Weids? My vague memory tells me he has I think. Should be better prepared. I would take Tim every time if he had the pre-season behind him. Starting to get a tad long in the tooth now though if we have to wait till 2019 for a full pre-season look at Smithy.

He was on the bench from at least 15 min mark in the last (approx) for at least 7/8 minutes before they could get him back on I believe. Not sure about the zero stat situation in last. Someone else might enlighten. Maybe off for most of the last with a niggle or just told to hard tag Dusty when on etc
