Looks like Dunstan stays David given it is looking like Clarry might have gotten the bug Edit: scrap that....aside from Dogga it could be anyone else at this point ie; hopefully not Clarry!

I agree its a great venue Cards albeit a tad blustery and hard to watch if there's a westerly blowing. Most of the game played on the Middleborough Road wing/flanks if there is one. So are you suggesting we put on all our 'premiers' gear and go!?? I can hear the banter now.... "so you've won one in how bloody long and you now reckon you're hot [censored] huh!?" 😄

What They Are Saying at Glenferrie Oval
Demon Dynasty replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Someone mentioned some stats on the traditional set shot accuracy vs round the corner and the round the corner came out ahead but only marginally by a few % points if i recall correctly. Still if there's any slight advantage to be had i guess there's no reason why you wouldn't take it if you have the skill set -

No doubt a place for that with set shots on tighter angles Jont. I'm not saying Pendles Rugby kicking tutor was right or wrong either but the proof of the pudding was there to see yesterday. Reckon there'd still be room for individual preferences/styles/flair etc. Just regurgitating what Pendles said happened during their training in the lead up to Anzac day. I'm sure there was a bit more to it than just running in straight at the target but who knows. -
Not sure about that... i've had some absolute ****ful days out there copping and giving it back to some of the numbskull Dawk supporters. Other times have been good days but bit of a coin flip depending on which numb nutz are about. If i go i'll probably bring my earphones for some more intelligent radio commentary

What They Are Saying at Glenferrie Oval

If that's the best they've got me thinks they're probably in for a world of pain this time around SM. If our forward line clicks and we can finally win a second quarter this could get super ugly. Always respect the opponent but i reckon we are cherry ripe and aside from our forward form/cohesion/conversion the bulk of the rest of the boys are playing either at or above their 2021 levels right now. I was listening to Pendles on SEN today and in an interview someone asked him what he thought the reason was for the Pies' super accurate kicking yesterday (15.3). He said they'd had a rugby kicking coach in during the week and the main theme was he told them to make sure they were running directly at the target when kicking. This coach said most kicks spray because players aren't running at the target when they execute. If/when the forward cohesion/conversion clicks there won't be too many more grinding wins for the rest of the year. More like spifflications. Hopefully starting this week! -
Given the length of time out does the ETA on Salem allow for effectively putting in some sort of mini pre-season post full recovery?

You must have been somewhere far far away for a while if you can't recall any bizarro selection discussions on here of late Dazzle! Maybe the mods can re-name this thread "Rnd 7 - Bizarro World" so anyone entering knows they are stepping in to the....

I cant see them going with anything other than what's been suggested DD. Similar to BB coming straight in for one of T-Mac or Weid, The SC would be salivating over the return of both Viney & Lever (assuming both are fit of course). Especially Lever for Smith. But they would also be super pleased with what Dunstan brought to the table on Sat night i reckon.

For his first up game (for us) and playing against a decent opponent on a big stage, i reckon Dunstan went very well. His composure in congestion and vision / poise to see those on the outside and hit them up, more so in the second half, seemed to be at the level. The ability to quickly change lanes to flip the ball around to a player in a better spot outside is a handy asset to have. If not for the potential concussion i reckon the MC would have a fairly tough call on its hands this week between him and JJ. JJ however has a few more credits at this stage, no doubt playing a fairly diff role and would likely still have gotten the nod playing quite well himself.

Thought Jake the snake was pretty good after quarter time. Baker & White also in the top three for mine. Plugger Mac did really well given the delivery and basically no system coming inside in the first half. Better after then. He also played the high HF role quite well after half time. Plugger still has the smarts at ground level, outmarked his opponents relatively easily in one on ones on the limited opportunities given and got to plenty of contests. Did get caught a few times but was in congestion making the play and trying to impose. Tomo pretty solid but solid at this level doesn't necessarily equate to AFL sometimes. Chandler, Rosman, Ellison, Tomo and an HM to Moniz who i thought looked classy at times, especialy with the last kick coming inside on about two occasions. Most players at this level (non AFL experienced ones) tend to bomb most of the time to the goal square or thereabouts. Laurie not bad but a decent amount of development to go yet IMO before getting a shot at the big time.

Ryan might end up being a very good ruckman with a few years under his belt
-
Reminds me just a tad of Phil Pinnell LeFau played well but that last unrealistic gutless jump was deliberately designed to damage someone. He was a mile off a realistic attempt to mark in that contest and decided someone was gonna pay no matter and leapt off the ground early with one knee raised. Needs to get weeks IMO

Round 6, 2022 MCG (Anzac Eve) - Tigers vs Demons Even with so many missed opportunities last night's team score was a massive 71.40 which was 6% above the average team score from season 2021! Pretty much matching our best score from all rounds last season which strangely enough was also this same Rnd 6 vs The Tigers @ 71.93 Also bettering our Grand Final performance of 69.50 for the second week running. However, the conversion rate was a massive 47% less than last week (76%) at a pretty ordinary 29%. Clarry returns to the top this round with 27 effectives @ 65.90% efficiency, 2 one percenters, 13 clearances (next best was Prestia with 6 and for us Sparrow with 5), 3 rebounds, 9 inside 50s, 3 tackles (one inside 50), 10 score involvements (equal second best for us on the night alongside Tracc with ANB having the most with 11. The best on the night the Tiger's Vlastuin with 13), 4 intercepts, 684 meters gained and a moderate 5 turnovers. A fabulous game from Lingers as well posting a massive score (for this role / position) of 5.45 Very impressive (statistically) first up result from Dunstan to finish inside the top 10! Top 5 Meters gained (Demons).... I have no idea of Robbie's "state of mind" on the field but in the half dozen or so passing encounters off it (one of those over the phone a couple in the rooms) he seemed a pretty straight down the line 'no nonsense' fella from what i recall. I know most players are similar but he particularly hated losing and was pretty grumpy after losses ....not dissimilar to Clarry in that regard?
-
A free kick at the very least. 4 umpires all on diff angles....contest between 3 players in the middle of the field (assuming where some or all four umps had line of sight) and zero free kick from any of them!
-
I thought he kind of ran in to tackle then Cotchin raised his arm to fend off at the last second and Smith kind of ran in to it? That vision was from behind though so could be wrong 🤔
-
Appears to have some pretty poor skills/smarts with his opponent often getting the better of him for mine as soon as the ball hits the deck. Up the ground he looks a tad better/more sure of himself occasionally spoiling or marking but a marginal improvment from a.pretty low base (so far). Within cooee of goals he looks as nervous as a turkey just shy of Christmas

6. Clarry boy 5. Lingers 4. Bowey 3. May 2. Gus 1. Weid HMs... Tracc, Dunstan, Fritta (possibly just ahead of Weid overall but Weid made the most of limited forward opps early IMV and kicked accurately throughout), Petty (mostly second half) & Gawn (mostly first half).
-
I would guess he might have impacted more than just Clarry here 227. A few were off tonight coming inside 50 and i also think we instinctively looked to give off far too often to the skinny side when players were free inside both by hand and foot. Reckon had we taken more of those chances we would have broken them down a tad earlier. We brought a fair amount of unnecessary pressure on ourselves as a result, more so in the first half. Some minor adjustments / improvements here during patches of the second half IMV. Decent amount of work required on that and forward craft/goal kicking this week to ensure we notch up our 14th scalp against the Dawks.
-
Bombed it far too often allowing the Tiger's spare to intercept quite a bit. Not enough patience / smarts coming inside. Look for the give off lateral if you cant see a man forward and chip it around / change lanes till you can. The first quarter i understand this is going to happen a bit more but for mine we should have looked to correct this as best as possible in the second but didn't. Sure their pressure was high in the first half but we kicked 16 points in total.... 10 to the right hand side and 6 to the left. Lots of brain snaps....literally This was an 80 point (roughly) deemolition in the offing which we let slip. Happy to take the win but some worrying brain fades / red veils in that first half for mine (may cost us against better opp going forward).

Lever straight in for Smith. Salem coming in for one of Dunstan or JJ once fully fit??
-
P.S. Dunstan got better in that secomd half. Clarry was a mile in front of anyone IMV
