  1. Other than a bit of poor disposal at times i thought he had a fair bit of upside. Similar traits to Disco. Hope he does too
  2. The AFL/VFL circus commenced many moons ago IMV Layzie when it refused to rotate the Country Zones which they set up in early 1969 using a lottery system. Even though further 'rotation lotteries' every three years had been agreed to prior. All downhill and "fixed" in various ways to produce 'preferred' outcomes thereafter. The rorting has continued on its merry way ever since. The ability for the best players to somehow find their way to clubs that have played finals and/or won a premiership (or more) in the year/s prior to them coming across just another example of how the system is far from kosher.
  3. Sorry replied to wrong post Layzie....was meant for this post lol. Agree re Chandler. Him and Bedford shouldve been in for Spargo or ANB on a few occasions i reckon. Yes everyone will scream 'role players' but sometimes you need to manage those role players and try and slot others in just to see what they can bring and also to give them a few decent blocks of games to find their mojo. Also handy 'ins' if one or both of the others end up injured (depth!) 1 hour ago, djr said: Did anyone follow Howes' performance today? Did he show anything to suggest that even though his stats were ordinary, he was able to apply some pressure to the opposition?
  4. What a gruelling, gutsy hard fought win that was. Credit to all the boys who appeared to give it everything they had from the first bounce. Sharks are the real deal. Some real tough nutz and genuine footballers in the mix. Impressive switching and transition play in the first half. Really took the game on. A bit wayward at goal. Clarke, Woodcock & Kwaby stand outs in that first half. Kwaby in particular looked very dangerous at times but faded a little in the second half. So proud of the boys today. No doubt some sore bods after all that crash/bashing. Felt really sorry for Rosman missing this one. Stand outs for mine for Casey... Turner, Joel Smith (particularly the last quarter), Tomo, Dunstan, Melk, Munro, Bedford, Brown, Chandler (fantastic courage & second efforts all day) Baker, Woe & Laurie. Baker may have saved one of his best for last. He was very solid today in shizen conditions. Over ran the ball a few times but who didnt. Then straight back into it. His pressure / chasing without the ball was superb. Melk's goal from 50 & Mitch's goal in the teaming rain from about 40-45 near the boundary in the last quarter were crackers and sliced the Shark's fin for good. Mitch was also hitting packs hard as was JVR. JVR shows no mercy and i wouldn't want to be playing in front of him once he's put on an extra 5kg to 8kgs or so. His leap off a few steps is a tad Nic Natesqe. Melk's goal from the kick out of the scrum at HF also a highlight. His stint in the AFL appeared to result in him being in tip top shape for this hit out. He was running on top of the ground from the get go, albeit his opponent Kwaby was also finding a little too much time / space for my liking in that first quarter and a bit, offering plenty of rebounds for them. White a deserved Goss medalist. This bloke is everywhere at times and appears to have a huge tank. He's the epitome of the old school classic utility and a superb one at that. Reckon he would have fitted in beautifully into many good AFL teams in the 80s! He's at AFL level now IMV ... just not sure where you would play him though. Congrats to all the Casey boys on an amazing year. Great to see the Demon Army out in force behind the goals. Sat with them in the first quarter but the netting behind the goals was too much for this old timer to bare. Big thanks to KC, Werridee, NS and plenty of others on here for their coverage throughout the year 💪🏼✌🏼
  5. Terrible conditions for a tallish running rookie player today. Wouldn't be placing much emphasis on how he's likely to go just on today.
  6. Free was there from where im sitting. Slung around the neck and pulled off the ball
  7. Nichols leading the umps is a worry
  8. Oh ... minor matter! Anyway changed a plan and got here. Go Demons!
  9. Rediculous start time. No way i can get there for a 12.50 start. What happened to traditional times around 2pm??
  10. Reckon the Cats will romp it in. Arm chair ride all right. What a gift. Whereas the Swans had a pretty hard fought final and tthey've probably lost Reid, who played a pretty big role in their form line this season. Reminds me a bit of our win over the Blues in 88' and going in to the slaughter against the Hawks without Strawbs. Doubt it will be that sort of route but the Cats couldn't have had a better entre' to a GF and should win comfortably (5 to 8 goals at least).
  11. There's still time Filth.... still plenty of snow. Mt Buller on the way back from the SCG
  12. They got the four teams they wanted onto the Prelim and a home one for an interstater. Not fussed after that job done
  13. Cox subbed out. This just gets better & better.
  14. Seen two Pies running through protected zone so far.... no 50s. Kozzy....BANG!
  15. Hodgy says "shouldn't be giving those sort of 50s in a preliminary" ....so it's ok against us (Kozzy)? Then they start criticising the free 5 minutes later. Be surprised if any of the 7 crew said anything after the Kozzy 50 near the boundary
  16. Hope so RF... major change ups needed if we're to stay in touch and hopefully snag one soonish
  17. The Filth by 3 to 5 goals unfortunately
  18. Yes makes sense Sue. Good idea
  19. A little yes but i reckon they prepped for this after the 2020 loss to the Tiges. Injected some run into the team. And also got Cameron courtesy of the AFL. Mind you the same thing helped the Tigers get their back to back with Lynch coming across to a premiership team lol. The AFL are lead by a shameless bunch of incestuous boys' club tossers.
  20. Poorly managed back half
  21. Where's Dilmot!!!????
  22. Think the Filth will be in it
