Trade Targets
Hopefully they bomb out of finals and he reconsiders his level of happiness 😁

Dan Houston
I can't see a scenario where we trade out our first round pick and not get back into the first round of this draft. We know we need mids, this draft is stacked with them, and JT is the master of picking mids. This may well be the best draft hand we will have in a long while, especially if we rise up the ladder next season and then Tassie comes in. I would be quite shocked if we gave away our first rounder for a 28 year old half back, as much as I highly rate Houston and can completely understand where he fits into our side.

If Freo go after Bolton, I would certainly go sniffing around A Brayshaw. He can come finish what his brother started...

Round 24 2024
Well at least the season will be over sooner rather than later.

Goodwin is the MAN!
The fact he signed, along with many many others who had plenty of options/strong lure of going home, suggests that this isn’t a lie. Players who aren’t happy don’t stay. There are many avenues now for players to depart, especially when we are talking about players the quality of Kosi, Petty, Langdon, not to mention Trac and Clarry who signed long deals under Goody.

Dusty Retires Immediately-ish?
Imagine if Richmond managed to offload him when he had all those off field issues… One of the greatest players, perhaps the best, I’ve ever seen play. The way he tore finals apart was something else. Absolute champion, the actual definition of one, not the BT definition.

Ed Langdon Re-Signs Until 2028
Well Schache is on a one year deal, and Ben Brown was already on a contract at North which was extended in order to get him to Melbourne. He won us a flag. It was worth the risk. If JJ wasn’t OOC for example we could have got more for him in a trade. Instead we got a third round pick compensation. The club is doomed either way because nobody is ever happy.

Ed Langdon Re-Signs Until 2028
4 years = less money than say 3 years. Smart list move to keep cap space to lure free agents etc. Langdon is only 28. It’s a no brainer to give him 4 years. At worst he will be a very good depth player at 32. Everyone crying about our lack of depth but also don’t want to sign anyone for longer than 2 years.

Time to go Goody?
Absolutely they are and if you think Goodwin is blind to those stats then you’re wrong. Doesn’t mean a new coach will magically fix the issues and we also need to look at the why behind these stats. Last I checked Goody isn’t an inside mid anymore. We have Clarry struggling for known reasons, we lost Trac halfway thru the year, Viney is either aging or carrying something, Sparrow hasn’t stepped up, we lost Gus, Salem who they ear marked to play midfield couldn’t get his body right. Etc etc etc. We need to regenerate the midfield.

Public service announcement...re Kayo
I left them a really nice "why are you leaving" message

A hopeful look at 2025 (from a pessimist)
If Clarry and Trac return to their best, our window is absolutely very much still open. Those two are good enough to build a premiership team around, and I am very bullish about a lot of the younger players who are already on our list. We absolutely need to nail this off season, not just from a trading and draft perspective, but from a fitness perspective too. And of course you need a lot of luck. Injuries will and do kill all teams.

Time to go Goody?
We all saw how Dimma went when he lost the top end talent at Richmond, and despite their 9000 first round picks, GC have again done SFA this season. Longmire has won the same number of flags as Goodwin in 13 seasons as coach, and has the advantage of academy picks. Remove the players Sydney got via COLA and the academy, and lets see how he goes. Likewise Scott inherited a premiership dynasty and won a flag in his first year, but it took him 11 season to win another one. I really don't understand why fans thinks that a new coach = more success. History will show you that in many cases, new coach does not in fact equal instant or faster success. Look how many coaches Carlton went through. Each one made them no better, until Voss inherited a good list thanks to multiple years at the bottom end of the draft. And still, no flags. GWS have had every advantage known to man in terms of drafting, and yet 0 flags despite 2 grand final appearances. Freo were a bee's dick away from getting rid of Longmuir last year, and they're a flag chance this year. And then you have perennial 'always the bridesmaid never the bride' in Fagan and Hinkley. Winning a flag is bloody hard. We won one in 57 years. And now we want so sack the coach who got us that flag, because he hasn't won another one since? Like how many current coaches have won more than 1 flag with the same club?

Trade Targets
I can see that, I can equally see him playing until he's 35 because fitness comes easy to him, and he manages his outside interests just fine while playing, which allows him to financially supports those endeavours.

Trade Targets
He's far too young to retire and literally the fittest player going around. Everyone needs to calm down, it was reported that we are in talks with him, and clearly there is no rush as we are not concerned he will leave. We had other priorities with guys who were being chased hard like Petty. Ed strikes me as the type of guy who screens his manager's calls and will eventually remember to sign a new contract when he finds time between bouldering. He's a good enough player that if there was any indication he may leave, there would be a lot of noise being made about it in the media. Or if he was trying to get more money, his manager would float him around.

Round 24 2024
Given we are out of finals contention and I expect the Pies will be too by round 24, I would think we get the Sunday 3:20pm slot.

TRAINING: Monday 5th August 2024
His ankle looked 3 times its normal size on Friday. Maybe, just maybe, the big guy can take an early mark and rest before the whole limb falls off.

What was your excuse?
I'll be there on Saturday night. I'll make sure to turn the lights off on my way out.

Nah that honour I’m reserving to junior boxing champion Jake Melksham when he decides to call it a day.
