The Zac Merrett Thread
Oh without a doubt you need to pick your battles. Daniher was an idiotic move. He was always leaving. Now their bargaining chips are nothing. If Oliver said âguys I hate this place Iâm leaving now or next year, make a decisionâ I would of course trade him while under contract and get max value. But if your best players are even a 2% chance of being swayed and are still giving you their best on the field, you gotta back yourself.

Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?
That even West Coast, a club with a rich history of making champions out of troubled blokes donât want him, says a lot.

The Zac Merrett Thread
Probably knows Essendon wonât let him go while under contract. And fair enough, I would do the same if Oliver or Trac wanted out. You take your chances on your best players and hope to turn them around.

How Geelong does it
Eventually itâll happen. They can only replace so many stars. Cameron will help ease the blow but when the best players in your side are all over 30, and there is a lot of them, eventually youâll drop off. You can bring in one maybe two quality players a year, you canât bring enough to replace half the side. Also Geelong is a literal dump. I have no idea why anyone would be attracted to the lifestyle down there unless they surf or have a job at Cotton On.

Isaac Smith
I think itâs plainly obvious that we wonât win a flag unless we strengthen the quality of our wings. We saw what an amazing difference Langdon made this year, but he canât do it alone. Our wings have been a rotating retirement village for unsuitable players. Yes it would be lovely to get another 25 year old gun wingman like Langdon, but we need to be realistic about our salary cap and the amount of players we have out of contract next year that we desperately want to keep. Smith might be a short gap filler but heâs proven and canât do worse than the other options currently on our list. He will cost virtually nothing in terms of cap space and wonât compromise our draft position, so who can bloody dispute that?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Even if all Brown does is take away the best defender allowing Weideman and Jackson to develop as second and third talls, it would be a good get. McDonald sadly doesnât commend a good defender anymore. Brown will, at worse, bring ball to ground giving Pickett and hopefully another small forward that we find somewhere, more opportunities. At best he kicks 30-50 goals and makes us a potent forwardline again. Something weâve lacked since McDonald was in form.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Not necessarily true. If rumours are to be believed, he is having issues with North Melbourne and it has nothing to do with money. He may look at a club where he feels to be a good cultural fit, one where the coaches will support him and his family. Thereâs a group of young dads at the club who may make him feel welcomed. There are a few âalternativeâ players who he may click with, as heâs a bit different to your traditional meat head footballer. Brown and his wife strike me as a couple who cares about more than money. I may be totally wrong, but that is the vibe I get from what Iâve heard about them. Besides, losing a baby can have a profound impact on you and none of us can judge someone who may want a change of scenery after something like that.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
North are in a heavy rebuild mode. He wonât be around if or when they ever compete again. They are clearing the decks of anyone who isnât contracted who is of some value. Plus clearly Brown isnât happy with the club, so they have no real leverage here.

2020 Grand Final
Can confirm [censored] grand final befitting the rest of 2020.

Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?
There is a reason why two clubs invested heavily in him and yet both clubs didnât find him to be a good fit. He didnât work at Melbourne. Time to move on.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Who was the last 'big' name that went to those 3 clubs? Martin... he's getting paid $1.7 million front ended. Case closed.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
The reality is that if you arenât playing finals consistently or you arenât loaded with money, you arenât a destination club. Players look at results. We have made finals once in a decade. That says a lot more to players than looking at our list with a magnifying glass and judging our likelihood of future success.

Jeremy Cameron
What a load of rubbish. Nothing will give me greater pleasure than watching Geelong get smashed on Saturday. The AFL keeps supporting the successful clubs and lets the rest just make up numbers for decades.

Injury List 2020
I guess regardless, his shoulder wasn't 100% during the season, which makes his output even more remarkable and his finish in the B&F even more of a mystery.

2020 Brownlow Medal
Juicy odds on Oliver at $41. He clearly polls well.

Oliver Rumours on Footy Classified
Viney was in SA and Max and Clarry in Vic... that explains why they weren't sitting together.

2020 Brownlow Medal
Blame Dan for not opening the barber shops earlier.
-
2020 Brownlow Medal
Yeah Iâm still very surprised by the B&F result. For me he was ahead of Viney, but we donât know their roles or how well they played them so itâs hard to judge within a team setting.

Finals: Week 3
I couldnât stand the thought of Geelong winning yet another flag, and their supporters in regional Victoria getting to enjoy the win while us metro Melbourne naughty kids sit at home alone.

Woewodin Opens Up
My friend cried for a week and skipped school when they traded him. Such was the devastation of him leaving. Was my neighbour when he played in Melbourne. Really nice humble guy. Never really gave you the impression that he thought too much of himself.

2020 Brownlow Medal
Well done Trac. A wonderful season.

Finals: Week 3
2020 has been such a [censored] year, why not add a Geelong flag to the list of horrible things weâve had to go through ?

Trump v. Biden
My apologies he appointed a very respectable 2% of black judges...
-
Trump v. Biden
And not one of the appeals court appointments is a woman... or a person of colour...
-
Trump v. Biden
Please explain how they are the same? One is a proven liar who has made dangerous and false accusations while in office. The other dodged some questions at a debate, something every single presidential and VP candidate has done. Should we talk about how many questions Pence dodged? Maybe itâs true that both parties are not exactly great, but how you can compare a lying, cheating, deluded, inexperienced, egotistical halfwit and Harris, is just beyond me. Neither are perfect and nobody wishes more than me that the Democrats had a better candidate than Biden, but he and Harris sure as [censored] are a far better option than to keep this nut job in office. Edit: and we all know that you can cover up the sentiments with âpolitical correctness gone wrongâ, but nobody would even blink an eye if Harris was a man. Itâs because she is a woman, and a woman of colour no less, that idiots like Trump feel itâs their right to call her names. Despicable ones at that.
