Every other state has managed to control low numbers without prolonged lockdowns and excessive restrictions. We had one case today already in isolation. Yet on Friday I can’t go further than 25km from my house and I can’t see my parents or have someone come to my house. We have gone over the top and we are damaging lives and livelihoods in the process.

I said child to child. I didn’t say child to adult. This is exactly why I want to vaccinate teachers. Because the risk in adults is so much greater.

Sorry I should clarify that we’ve been in more lockdowns than any country with such low numbers of cases. Don’t think you can compare Australia to Europe or America both in terms of people or cases.

My friend is a teacher and 30 weeks pregnant. She doesn’t want to work during an outbreak because she’s 34 so can’t get vaccinated and doesn’t want the risk of catching Covid. She’s not alone. Why aren’t we prioritizing teachers to get vaccinated so we can stop constantly shutting down schools? We know child to child transmission is minimal and kids rarely get very sick. So why not vaccinate school teachers and staff and never have to shut schools again, apart from the rare occasion where we have an outbreak at a school and then we can isolate that particular school community. Thinking is just too hard for our governments.

I have been and still am in favour of targeted lockdowns where necessary. Do I think we go over the top in Victoria because we are so scarred by previous failings? Yes. Do I think our public health is criminally under funded and has made the handling of the pandemic worse in this state? Absolutely. I read today the horrific rise in suicides and calls to helplines by primary school aged kids in the last year. Primary aged! Lockdowns work, but they also bring a lot of mental and financial anguish and in such a well spaced out country where most people live in single dwellings, we should be able to handle 5-10 cases a day without the need for lockdowns. Our entire problem in this country is we got greedy. We managed to get and stay at 0 and now we want to maintain that at all costs. Even if those costs include the lives and livelihoods of people. I’m furious that we are chasing elimination but our vaccination rollout has been a disaster, and likewise that we insist on bringing international arrivals and yet have just one purpose built quarantine facility in the whole country. What we want and what we have put in place to achieve that, is the thing that takes the least amount of effort and work from governments and the highest toll on citizens. After nearly 2 years of this thing, you’d think we would get it right. We have resources that few countries can dream of, yet we are largely unvaccinated and have been in more lockdowns than most countries.

Emotions will be high at the start of the game. Important to get off to a really strong start. But if we can come back from 20 points down against a much better team in Brisbane, there is 0 excuse to lose this game. We are a better team and we have a lot more to play for. Losing this will come down to our application on game day. Nothing more.

I just don’t understand why people rate Lyon. Everywhere he’s gone he hasn’t been able to get a premiership (has gone very close tho I’ll give him that) and seems to come with a lot of baggage. Can’t see the hype.

To be fair we lost both Neeld and Roos’ last games as coach. I guess it depends how much the players love Bucks or how unhappy they are with this move. We have a lot more on the line than they do. No excuses. Would anyone be keen to get Bucks in as an assistant? I rate him highly but unsure if he’s suited to not be the main man.

Yeah seriously people thinking we can go to NSW but we can’t go further than 25km in Melbourne. Keep dreaming.

Not according to the link I posted above. We definitely need to isolate regardless of where we have been. Only people exempt are those living in border communities.

No apparently we need to do 14 days home quarantine if we’ve been in Melbourne after 27/05. I actually checked earlier today as I thought of going to the game https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/rules/interstate-hotspots#stay-at-home-rules Rules may change if we come out of lockdown Thursday night, but seems doubtful.

They would have had to have left a week ago. We need to do 14 days of home quarantine if we cross the border from Vic to NSW. I would happily go to the game otherwise.

And both were actually good games to watch for neutral fans. Nobody would have picked Melbourne at half time last week, but it was still close enough that people wouldn't turn off. Same with the Dogs game. Great for us, and vindication to the AFL that we deserve more prime time going forward. Having said that, give me Sunday afternoon at the G as long as we can attend live. Anything is better than no footy in Victoria!!!

Langdon will be there by end of the year. Will definitely be in the team of 40.

I think anyone with a small yet persistent niggle may be rested this week. Last chance for a good rest before finals. Just hope it doesn’t cost us the win. We can hardly afford to lose to bottom sided given our draw in the second half of the season.

He was very good in the first half, just as Oliver was very good in the second half. Hipwood with 1 vote is surely taking the absolute p!ss.

Yep Dogs lucky to get away with that win. They looked ordinary. Optus Stadium is a tough ground to play at with a hostile crowd. Brisbane and Richmond still my pick of the bunch for a flag alongside us.

Well the difference in this game is Dogs have a handful of absolute stars like Bont. And Freo can’t do anything forward of the Centre. So yeah.

Yeah the guy with the blonde hair. Freo’s kicking inside 50 kills my soul. Every time they go forward I’m screaming at them to be better. It’s sadly not working

Yeah they are not a quick team or a young team. They can afford to move the ball slowly because their tall towards are so good in the air. Freo is so infuriating. They do a lot right and their pressure is excellent. But their ball use going inside 50 is trash. Brayshaw is their best player along with Mundy. No idea what is up with Fyfe. Done nothing.

I take nothing away from their injury list. And Carlton are very ordinary. But I see nothing in West Coast that worries me.

Umpire 22 is still the worst umpire in the game. Just hopeless. Freo applying nice pressure.
