  1. Gold Coast need Bowes off their books, not pick 7.
  2. Well that is a very disappointing outcome. We clearly took well unders. I wish Freo continued mediocrity.
  3. Didn’t the club come out and say we aren’t trading Weideman? What happened?
  4. This would be the only acceptable outcome if we lose Weideman to make the Jackson trade happen. Meek at least gives us some depth. We have absolutely no ruck options beyond a 30 year old Gawn and probably a 29 year old Grundy coming off a year long injury.
  5. I don’t like this. We are getting rid of depth we desperately need to satisfy goddamn Freo in a trade for Jackson? Seriously?
  6. Fair to say we will all be cheering Freo for the spoon next season 🙄
  7. Because West Coast have literally come out and said they hadn't met him or had discussions with him but are interested in him. Yet he has already toured the Freo facilities like it is a done deal that he is going there. No wonder Freo think they can just throw us day old breadcrumbs in return.
  8. We are about to lose a player we invested pick 3 in just 3 years ago for basically well below market value. I have no issue with him going home, I have an issue with him waiting to tell us he wants to go home once he was out of contract. I would have much preferred to trade him while in contract, and I am sure so would the club. We have never said no to any player who wanted to leave for personal reasons, and I doubt it would have been different with Jackson. We are a fair trading team, but sadly the same can't be said for every other club. His intentions were obviously made clear to the club months ago, and yet he never had serious discussions with West Coast, which basically forces us to deal with Freo, who know they have nothing to lose by screwing us. Nor has he or his management ever come out and said "if a WA club can't compensate Melbourne, Luke will sign on with Melbourne". Even if it's a bluff, it forces Freo's hand to start being more flexible and shows he really does want to repay the club who gave him a RS and a flag and made him into a player worthy of a massive contract at 21 years of age.
  9. I despise them. They are the worst club to deal with outside of Essendon. And thank you so much Luke for waiting until you were out of contract to run back to mummy when last year we could have done a fair deal for Cerra. Just trash all around.
  10. Greene is a massive time bomb waiting to go off. Immensely talented but has a fuse so short it’s a risk not worth pursuing.
  11. Yes we are bringing him in to extent the career of the best ruckman in the league.
  12. Might be contracts ticked off by the AFL that is the holdup? Given the salary transfer etc it might take longer? Surely this gets done by Friday?!
  13. Exactly right. We are not bringing him to captain. We are bringing him in as backup to the best ruckman and captain in the league thanks
  14. As if we have the draft capital or the money for Whitfield. Keep dreaming.
  15. Can confirm this place is very good... more so for a steak, less so for a punch on.
  16. Who cares? They are better value than pick 78 in the draft. It's one year at low cost and Hibberd absolutely has done enough to show he can contribute next year. Melksham is decent insurance.
  17. There is minimal risk with LJ. There is always risk involved in going to the draft. Plenty of top 5 picks have not made it.
  18. Weid for King. I’ll sign that.
  19. He’s probably a lovely guy. He’s just not cut out for AFL footy and that’s ok.
  20. If we were only going to use pick 33 and nothing beyond that, then why not turn 33 to 27? Who cares about the late picks we would have passed up anyway.
  21. I never ever implied that he is not a heart and soul player because he is looking for more midfield minutes. I implied very clearly that IF he chose to leave BECAUSE he wanted more midfield minutes, it would be HIS CHOICE. While you implied that it is somehow the club's fault if he left, although it's very clear that he is, and always will be, behind Trac, Clarry and Viney, so the club cannot simply let him have more midfield minutes to the detriment of team performance just to keep him happy. I don't doubt that he is a well loved player, and I don't doubt for a minute the club wants to keep him. It sounds to me like the club said to him they can't promise him more midfield minutes, so if he wants to explore his options, they won't stop him (and can't really, players are free to always look around even while contracted). To me that speaks to a great culture that won't stop players from pursuing opportunities they can't get at Melbourne.
  22. Yet was willing to leave for more midfield minutes.
  23. He’s also a lot younger and had an ACL in his first season with us and ongoing foot issues this year.
  24. And was part of the best defense recorded by the AFL in a premiership winning season. Did we overpay for May who is almost 30?
