Guess how many rucks we played when we won the flag 2 years ago...

What They Are Saying at Westlakes
Jaded No More replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Balances out no Clarry or Fritta, who are both much better footballers -
So essentially the bottom 6 teams are tanking to get the best possible pick. What could go wrong!

And so he should have. He’s waited a long time to win a flag, and was a massive reason why we won it. JJ is still very young and has his entire career ahead of him. The sub rule was a joke and it’s very unfortunate that JJ was the one who had to do it. But, ask Hunt and I’m sure he would have liked to have been the sub. Same with Smith, Melksham and countless others who missed out altogether.

You mean modern day hero, CEO in waiting, greatest player of all time Patrick Dangerfield right? He requires you to call him by his full title.
-
No Rachele this week. Suspended.
-
He is wrong, because as you said, his assertion, like the rest of the media, is that we are trying to turn him into a 40 goal a season KPF. We are not.
-
His opinion is that you can't turn Grundy into a forward.
-
Of course he's entitled to his opinion. Doesn't mean his opinion means anything.
-
Because of his decorated coaching career? His successor took the same list from bottom 4 to top 4 in a single season.
-
The Rampe justification of letting him off is so wild it’s actually unhinged Absolute circus
-
Does Clarkson coming back magically makes them a top 4 quality side? FFS if we can’t beat a bottom 2 team, we can’t win the flag either.

Should have read my post on page 2. Saved yourself the effort 😂

It’s not laughable. The reason we’ve been able to manage our TPP without losing a single one of our stars, is because we’re giving younger players longer deals on lower money. Spargo is not a risk at his age. Even as depth, he’s very good. The fact that we still have money to chase players every year, for example Grundy, speaks volumes about how well we are managing our cap.
-
And of course that one was against us
-
Can confirm tears were shed in all these games. But I don’t think anything will ever top my truly psychotic outburst when Gawn kicked the goal in round 23 2021.
-
Knowing our luck they’d say we breached the rules and take the flag off us 🙄
-
I mean McVee couldn’t even get drafted until the rookie draft. Things can definitely change. In JT we trust!
-
The only way he stays in as a permanent fixture is as an inside mid. The only way that happens is if we are committed for Trac to play predominantly forward in the years to come. This could well happen when Clarry finally comes back from his full hamstring amputation.
-
He said pre game on Friday that he’s hoping to get a game or two in before finals. That would be absolutely fantastic. We can’t win the flag without him… or Clarry.
-
There is a reason he isn’t playing inside anymore, even tho Dogs lost Dunkley. Last year when he was playing as an inside mid, he only averaged 3.7 clearances and 8.6 contested possessions, going at 54% efficiency Oliver’s stats were higher than that in his first season of football. As I said in a previous post, if he didn’t cost much then of course you’d look at him, and he will probably be a star at Geelong. But he isn’t worth the picks or financial outlay he would require, because he doesn’t fill an obvious gap. I would rather Taylor use our picks to unearth another really classy midfielder via the draft.

Gus doesn’t have the leg speed to play on the same players Hibbo does. If anything you’d give that role to Rivers. I am thinking of opponents like Rachele (I know he’s suspended) or Fogarty as an example. They’ll both outmuscle McVee and be too quick for Gus. Hibbo would be a great match up for either as he has the body strength and the pace to play on them. McVee is more like Jetta IMO. He takes the role on that really nimble quick small, like Cameron or this week probably Rankine. Where Hibbo is really unique is that he can play “tall” but he has the speed of a small. He isn’t as easily replaceable as I think a lot of supporters think. It says a lot that at 34 they’re priming him for finals. If I think about our list, Smith is probably the player who is most “like for like”, while not being anywhere as consistent.
-
He isn’t and I suspect he will retire.
-
Come on now, are you comparing the disposal efficiency of inside mids to an outside runner? Clarry and Trac basically average twice as many contested possessions as Smith. And I know you are not comparing these two champion footballers to him. I know you are not! I can’t even talk about how wrong this comparison is. The guy is struggling to get a game over Oscar Baker. Compare him to Ed Langdon who has a 73% disposal efficiency or Hunter at 66.7% Edit: and for [censored] and giggles, ANB has a better disposal efficiency too at 64.5% 😂

Please name them, I’m genuinely interested He is a wasteful accumulator. Doesn’t mean he won’t go to Geelong and be a star, but he isn’t a player who we need or who will make us significantly better. Whereas Geelong are old AF and need to inject speed and youth into their dying midfield. For a packet of chips and $200k sure, but he will cost a bucketload. Money and picks we can spend better elsewhere.
