  1. And we have no idea if Gus is going to play on or not. A midfield sans Clarry and Gus is no more than a middle of the road midfield. It isn’t winning you flags.
  2. He also drafted Weid He is a great recruiter but drafting is an imperfect science.
  3. No doubt Jason Taylor is a gun recruiter. I don’t doubt for a minute he will do well with any picks he’s given. But it’s still all a lottery. History has shown us that many highly rated juniors go on to have average careers. You absolutely cannot guarantee that any player drafted this year will be as good or better than Clarry. Very few first round picks since his draft have achieved what he has in terms of accolades.
  4. He might turn out alright. Would you trade him for Clarry tho?
  5. Well actually the last early pick we had got us Luke Jackson 😭
  6. How often have we been seduced by early picks and they’ve amounted to nothing more than good ordinary players. To trade the best contested midfielder in the game for speculative picks is a hard sell for me. Would need an established player involved.
  7. I understand this is your point of view, but I’m asking if your information is that it’s likely that we will trade him if we are being offered pick 2+3 as you suggested?
  8. So you actually think the club will trade Clarry?
  9. Not overs. For every good pick 2 and 3, there are dozens very ordinary ones who will never come close to being as good as Clarry.
  10. Fair enough. The standard of the surface there isn’t great. It’s also not great at Marvel. Glad we don’t play at those grounds often.
  11. He was involved in 3 flags at Richmond. Hardwick left a sinking ship. What did you expect him to do with a list as old as time?
  12. Excellent get. He is a very experienced and highly loved coach with plenty of premiership success under his belt.
  13. The point about nowhere near as good as what is important. Clarry has never shown any signs of being lazy, unwilling to work hard on his game or fitness, or go hard on the field. Goody awarded him 4 B&Fs including in a premiership year. I don’t think those 3 are on the same level in any way.
  14. True. I suppose for a year he could commute to Geelong, but interstate was probably not on his radar.
  15. Tom Lynch is definitely not recovering as well as expected from his foot issue. Take that to the bank.
  16. Port or Geelong, but neither must be interested.
  17. But what if success is his priority?
  18. Last two times we played that ground we suffered serious season ending injuries. Coincidence or [censored] ground?
  19. My only issue with McKay is the cost. He signed a mega contract that we would essentially need to take on. Not sure he’s worth it.
  20. He was
  21. Max is so much more than just a great ruckman tho. I think he will leave a big hole on and off the field.
  22. But he’s 32 next year. His time is limited but our window is not. West Coast are a decade off a flag.
  23. Why would anyone pick West Coast over Melbourne Genuine question
  24. It’s been a great year for the AFL’s cash flow. It’s been a poor year for the fans unless you barrack for Pies or Blues. Umpiring quality at an all time low. MRO a joke. ARC a disgrace. Channel 7 coverage and commentary an insult to the eyes and ears. Game day experience at the ground loud and annoying. Ease of purchasing finals tickets negative ten. Yes record attendance and memberships, but how much of that is post Covid buzz and big clubs seeing success again (especially Pies and Blues), and how much of it is sustainable long term without proper investment in the quality of the above. From my point of view, I’ve never felt more disillusioned or disengaged from the AFL. I am invested in our club, but finding it harder and harder to stay involved beyond the 3 hours a week in which we play.
