Grundy has always had questionable hardness. It’s why he’s never been as good as Gawn. Ever. He’s a nice player but he isn’t strong enough and he doesn’t make up for it with his overhead marking. Gawn is about the only ruckman in the AFL who is genuinely influential around the ground, Xerri is quite good too (I’m talking first ruck not your pinch hit ruckmen). Jackson has it in him, but hasn’t quite hit the mark yet. Grundy is a lovely guy and a good player, but anyone who said he would help the Swans win a flag is kidding themselves. The Swans midfield is sensational. If they win the flag it’ll be them who make it happen, not Grundy.

Exactly right. If our players can make peace so should the fans. The worst possible outcome is a fractured club. United we are much stronger.

Well, at least he’s making an effort to be part of the club. Can’t begrudge him that.

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver

There is no media speculation to shut down at this stage. The info came from a poster with good inside knowledge and was about other clubs approaching us for Clarry. Do you want the club to speak out every time another list manager rings them? -
I would throw in pick 5 too, such is my admiration for the Bont. But unlike the brand, he’s as loyal as they come. He won’t leave.

Is it better or worse than the Stringer thread? -

Ken is too nice. I think that’s the problem with Richo too. We need a hard liner in the role to balance out Goodwin IMO. -

Adam Simpson would be a far better option. -
Andrew McQualter - Appointed coach of the West Coast Eagles

No. A head coach is first and foremost a people manager. Tactics and line coaching is often managed by a whole host of coaches, including opposition analysts. -
Maybe the review of the board will find that they’ve failed in properly managing the administration and will therefore nominate someone external to review that side of the club?

No thanks. We already have an amazing player person in Goodwin We need master tacticians and Ken is well, not- 164 replies

Doesn’t mean there isn’t a review of the FD or operations happening as well.
-
Do you know if the review will be just of the board, or of the operational and FD side of things too?

Unfortunately she cannot continue at board level as she's now served more terms than allowed, and was only extended as she was president. However it doesn't stop her from staying involved in the AFLW if she wishes, in a role that is outside of the board.
-
Yeah I just re-read that, but it's kind of confusing, because what does the board need to review? We have members up for re-election and members who need to step down as they have run their full terms. My biggest hope is that the few remaining board members who are part of the lawsuit, step down. We cannot afford this endless litigation with he who shall not be mentioned, ruin another pre-season for this club.
-
I wholeheartedly agree, however contracts and the soft cap means that we can't just get rid of everyone. It will be Richo or Pert IMO, not both. Gus feel says Richo goes.
-
What trouble? She stepped aside without a fuss. She only has one year left on her term anyway. I think a good club and a good leader does just that. She saw us through some hard times and through some of the very best times, including 2 premierships, and financially we've never been in a better position. I think it was the right thing to do, but she has earnt my respect for what she did when she became president, and the gracious way in which she bowed out. I think from all the people on our board, he would be the most credentialed to lead a footy department review, having played the game, and also been involved at other clubs not just our own. At least we can be sure that he has the very best interests of our club at heart, and this is not some ego driven thing to retain his position.

Brad Green? Mind. Blown. But at least it sounds like a review is happening.
-
Agreed. He was fine. Should have nailed his shot on goal tho. But considering what a big [censored] deal was made about him coming to Port and making their midfield the best in the league, you gotta laugh that they got smashed by Dangerfield, Bews, Atkins and Dempsey. Only Holmes is a serious star in that lot.
-
Port losing to Geelong at home, who were missing arguably their most important player in Stewart, was an all time great choke. Port has a great midfield on paper. In reality, their midfield has proven not to do much in finals. I know Butters was injured, so I'll give him a pass, but Rozee their captain with just 16 touches and JHF with 18 is very uninspiring. When a 36 year old is your best midfielder, you have to worry.

100 times better than Schache. A proven marking forward and goal kicker. Good injury cover and role player. If he costs us less than nothing, I’m all for it.
-
I'm sorry, what?
-
Hasn't that worked out well for them. They've been the envy of the AFL for so long
