  1. I'll help you out... I LOVE DANIEL BELL! :D :D
  2. I read it, and was extremely offended (although I agree with a lot of what he says), so I emailed him and told him to come visit this website. If ever there was proof that Melbourne supporters do bleed about the club, this is it.
  3. Walls writes to get a reaction, which he has clearly done. This article is a joke.... Bruce, Green, White, TJ and Robbo are worth more than 2nd round picks, and we would be stupid to swap any of them for such a low price. West Coast would just about give you Judd to get Robbo into their forward line! A much better article IMO is THIS ONE from Mike Sheahan in the Herald Sun. Doesn't say a whole lot, but doesn't crap on for the sake of crapping on either.
  4. Robbo. And when Neita retires, you can bet that Robbo will take his place at FF and be our number one target until he hangs up the boots (he is only 28, so it could be a while... hopefully!). Robbo has proven that he can be the main target up forward, in fact, his best seasons were 2003 and 2005 when Neita was mostly out of form.
  5. Newton should get used to playing second fiddle to a gun forward. It will be a while before he is a number one forward anywhere, especially at Melbourne.
  6. Exactly! Last year we were losing away and winning at home, this year you can put us on Mars and we'd still lose. The injury excuse is wearing thin. It was valid when we were missing half our forward line, and midfield. Currently the only really crucial player we are missing from the side is Rivers. As for the others... Moloney- barely played last year and we still made the finals quite comfortably Yze- a month ago he was playing at Sandy Whelan- has been in shocking form this season, plus we have Bell to cover for him, unlike in the past Bartram- he's good, but he is not a match-winner. Pickett- not injured, rather not fit enough to make an impact at senior level.
  7. Thanks Y_M... but you forgot to mention that Sylvia will kick 10, and McLean will have 100 touches
  8. Agreed (finally )! Wheatley has never gotten himself a permanent position, that IMO is why people don't rate him. He has almost all the requirements of a great AFL player: Pace- tick Long accurate kick- tick Agility- tick Reasonable mark- tick Wheatley has spent a lot of time on the injury list in the last few years, and because he isn't big enough to be a KPP, but isn't small enough to play as a small defender, he has become a victim of his own body. He could, quite successfully play the third defender role instead of Ward or Bizzell, while being far more accurate for his opponent and possessing much better disposal skills. No idea why he is getting so much negative attention, although I'm not sure that he is well and truly in our best 22.
  9. Sorry to quote myself, but just found this article in the Herald Sun: Extra load buries Moloney A lot of fluff about bouncing back and all that, but also... -Melbourne aimed to ease Moloney back this season, slowly increasing his workload. But the dire shortage of players during games forced him to push on. -Yze had scans this week to check for osteitis pubis, but it's believed the results were not season-threatening. "It's more hip-flexor and groin at the moment. We just want to monitor that and make sure it doesn't become a fully osteo case," Daniher said. No word about Rivers. Maybe the Ch.10 reported confused Rivers with Yze?
  10. Do you think he'll never get over his OP? Is it really that bad, despite him playing the entire 2005 season and finishing top 5 in our B&F?
  11. Sounds painful, but not nearly as painful as OP. Now, your words vs. the word of Ch.10... ohhh, that's a toughie
  12. Hmmm. Well I would certainly storm the Ch.10 offices and demand my wrist vains back if their report turns out to be [censored]. Either way, I've changed the title of the thread as to not frighten people off.
  13. So basically, nothing out of the ordinary will happen on Saturday. You just wanted to use that ninja smilie, didn't you? CB, Wheatley on the wing would be great, if we weren't already 3 defenders down with Rivers, Whelan and Holland. Adelaide have a couple of mid-size forwards who tend to play well against us, and who are a great match-up for Wheatley. This is how I'd like to see the backline line-up: Nathan Bock - Bell Chris Knights - Frawley Scott Welsh - Bizzell Ian Perrie - Wheatley Mark Ricciuto - Carroll
  14. Full team line-up: Melbourne Team Backs: D.Ward, N.Carroll, R.Petterd Half backs: J.Frawley, C.Bizzell, D.Bell Centreline: T.Johnstone, J.McDonald, A.Davey Half forwards: B.Green, R.Robertson, C.Bruce Forwards: C.Sylvia, D.Neitz, M.Bate Followers: J.White, S.Godfrey, N.Jones I/C: P.Johnson, B.McLean, P.Wheatley, N.Brown Emergencies: C.Johnson, B.Holland, L.Dunn Brock McLean named on the bench... I know it's probably me being paranoid, but why can I foresee a late change with McLean pulling out of the team in the last minute? Also, that forward line should kick us at least 20 goals... if we can win the ball in the middle and move it quickly!
  15. Hayes has been banished from the club for not turning up to training. Weetra has a broken wrist, and is already on the senior list. We haven't got a rookie who could actually come in and help us. Perhaps Neaves, but highly unlikely.
  16. And wouldn't that be stupid! You don't give someone 'a few weeks' to get over OP. If he has it, even in the mildest of forms, he should sit out the rest of the year wrapped in soft cotton wool, and instructed not to run, walk, or indeed stand up. This is too serious to mess around with. These sorts of injuries can stick around for your whole career if they are not properly managed. We don't want another Moloney/Sylvia situation.
  17. Just on Ch. 10, Rivers has had scans for OP and that he is unlikely to play for the rest of the season. According to Neale, the scans weren't 'too bad', but he can't run freely. He'll have more scans next week. Is this the worst season of injuries in the club's 150 year history? *Pass the knife*
  18. Or Rivers! But hey, it's Thursday night and so far, McLean is in the team and uninjured. Victory to us!
  19. Is 'wrist' the new word for 'dropped'? <_< Not happy to see Dunny dropped, he hardly deserves it considering how many poor performers we have been carrying for weeks/months/years. Excellent ins with Sylvia and Bate back. Sylvia to CHF in the absence of Miller? Still no CJ.....
  20. Absolutely nothing to do with it. We are the original and longest serving tenants of the MCG. It is OUR ground and we should be allowed to train on it. If nobody is given permission to train there, like with TD, fine. But there can't ever be a situation where we are refused entry, and yet an unsuccessful interstate team playing an insignificant game is allowed to have a run.
  21. Hence why they, or more to the point, he, should never ever be appointed as captain. If anyone heard Brock McLean's interview while injured (Round 5 I think it was), his honest assessment of where we are at, was the way a captain should speak. The handballing, and OVER handballing is a result of practicing the run and carry game plan. We have always been a kicking side, who kicked long and direct. Now we don't. While we execute it very poorly, the idea behind quick handballing comes from the run and carry style.
  22. I had high hopes for Jamar, and I really believed he could be a good ruckman for us, given his size and the fact that ruckmen are getting increasingly more giant every year. What he didn't have in height, he could make up for in strength. Sadly, his tap work (which is very good, probably equals to that of Jeff White at the moment) is not enough anymore. He is a ruckman who could play only one of two positions, center circle and bench. These days, you can't afford to waste bench spots on someone who doesn't run and can't do anything up forward or down back. It is a real shame though, because his technique is very good, while PJ's is well... amusing (and that's being kind).
  23. It is utterly pathetic that the MCG will allow Fremantle to train on the MCG, and not us... The original tenants of the ground! I hope the club takes this to the AFL, who while they don't have control of the MCG, should still raise the issue with the MCC. Why are we always the ones who get screwed over?
