Toughest midfield in the AFL - David King
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Bobby Clark's topic in Melbourne Demons
I must have missed the memo that said this thread had to be filled with cliches and aphorisms. Lucifer, you're the clubhouse leader but I'm sure others can give you a run for your money. << is this an appropriately cliched emoticon for "tongue in cheek"? -
THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS

There are enough fruitloops in the Senate to make everyone feel at home. -

This is from yesterday's address to the joint sitting of Congress. I think it's a slightly different angle, but clearly the same facial expression. Glad to be of assistance. -
THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
There is one significant difference, though. It seems that Australian sportspeople caught doping are presumed by most Australians to be innocent until proven guilty whereas non-Australian sportspeople caught doping are presumed by most Australians to be guilty until they can prove their innocence. -

Of course, if he believes the products he took were harmless, he'd be better to settle quickly before the lack of harm becomes apparent. The longer he waits the more you might assume he does not have confidence in what he was given. -
THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Is there a legal timeframe within which he must lodge any claim? Or could he choose to wait years to see what the consequences of the program may be on his longer-term health, including that of any children he may have? If there's no limit on the timeframe, we (and Essendon) could be waiting years for final closure. -
Richmond and the Tigers! (I assume you mean Kangas)

From MFC Twitter (includes a before and after photo) which I can't seem to copy.(Edit: Fixed. See next entry) A tough day in the office for @mitchhannan Never fear though, a trip to the dentist has got him looking as good as new! In build, Petracca reminds me most of Leigh Matthews with those tree trunk thighs and solid body.

Unfortunate placement, Bingers! Placed straight after a comment about Simon Goodwin could lead someone to believe that you see Michael Voss (as coach) in Simon Goodwin rather than Michael Voss (as player) in Oliver. At least, I hope you were talking about Michael Voss the player...

I believe the club asks Saty not post on Demonland so everyone just believes no training took place. -
JLT Round 2 vs. Carlton at Casey Fields
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
I suspect the concern about Tom McDonald's disposal is coloured by his ungainly kicking action. Every time he kicks the ball it just seems amazing that it actually goes roughly where it's meant to. Without checking any stats, I suspect his kicks hit their targets in roughly similar proportion as some of the better looking kicks who just happen to miss targets quite regularly (such as Viney). -
Christian Salem - future position role
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Bobby Clark's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'll assume you mean "uninterrupted preseason". I know it will seem too coincidental to appear an original thought, but ever since he started I had hoped he would turn into our Jordan Lewis. A smooth, left-foot, precise-kicking, hard-as-nails (insert any other cliche you like) midfielder. -
What an existential dilemma. Is it even possible to experience a first world problem in Casey?
-
I'm not sure you can say the term "block-head" is self explanatory when in the whole history of the English language it's never been used in any way other than as a derogatory term. Yet surely you aren't saying it is being used by your circle of mates to criticise the players you've named?

AFLW Round 4 - Melbourne v Carlton
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Dee Gee's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
I note The Age today has this game listed to start at 11.35 pm. I'm surprised the Council has allowed them to leave the lights on so late at night. -
JLT Round 2 vs. Carlton at Casey Fields
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
Or, because it's just a practice match you could decide that the players who performed poorly should be given more not less game time and those experienced players that don't need extra work could be rested. In which case, maybe Lewis and Vince would not play. -
Macca, I agree with everything you've said except the last line. The issue is the (over)reaction of (some) supporters to what the system itself produces.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
I haven't heard the tape but I have read Mick Warner's story. Two things struck me: who recorded that meeting and why? (That's more interesting to me than who gave it to Mick Warner and why now) there appears to be no discussion amongst the four (Little, Hird, Thompson, Corcoran) that they needed to cop their right whack. Which means they were either all delusional or all convinced of the club's innocence I realise that Warner's story is based on a tape which may not include everything said. But I'm confident that if any of the four had said anything that was anywhere close to admitting guilt, that would have been the main story. So, are they all delusional? Can circumstances such as this lead four otherwise successful and determined individuals to become delusional? -
Maybe the Jack Watts omission without a satisfactory explanation is actually a deliberate distraction for another story...like why isn't Jetta playing?

Looking for 2 old games in 1982
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to langers1971's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm sorry I can't assist, but I'm curious...why those two games in particular? Are they special games or are you trying to complete a set? -
Who would you like to sponsor the club?
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Chris's topic in Melbourne Demons
So, how much cash do you pay to be strapped? -
If Ox is right, those KPIs he didn't meet might not even be training or football related. He might have been late to a meeting, missed a sponsorship event or failed to complete his homework (where have I heard that before?) He also may have been late to training, broken team rules in the intra-club or kicked with his preferred instead of his non-preferred in practice. Who knows? But as long as he knows which KPIs he hasn't met and learns from it, I'm OK with him missing one practice match. I suspect most of our top 10 players will only pay 2 out of three of these matches anyway.

If Watts had played last week, who would have missed out? Spencer, Weideman, Vandenberg or someone else? And I wonder what explanations would have been given for that playing missing out.
