  1. I have my own view of politics. And I think the "lowering of wages" has been a Political aim of both major parties since post Whitlam. Hawke's "level playing field" being little more than getting Australian wages as low as the cheapest worker in China. or at least raising their wages and lowering ours until the evened out. He might have seen the future, the rise of China, well before it happened and the futility of 12 million people arguing with whatever the population of China was at that time..... but what has this to do with football ?
  2. I have a question. Did he have an opponent, seemed to be by himself most of the time !!
  3. I do like this idea. we might lose a little bit, but the blues lose big time. Assuming Harmes wins the tagging battle ! and he is smart enough and tough enough to win as a tagget. Sacrificing his game for the club etc etc....
  4. Best couple of write ups from any Track watcher for weeks........thanks
  5. I have decided not to vote there was no box I don’t care ! I live mostly here, 3 hours west so only see a couple of live games. It’s usually on the telly or Foxtel at the pub. if I am home the sound is down anyway. i don’t need commentary and cheets I make my own. I will miss the faces of the crowd either crying foul or cheering a goal with glee. its up to the players to motivate themselves not through crowd participation! More like suburban park footy.
  6. loved watching him when he was with us, sometimes with my own despair as to his performance, but cheered him anyway. As long as he is not starring, or Freo winning against the Dees I will cheer him on still.
  7. I have also re read the first page etc. The comments in hind sight were a bit harsh perhaps. BUT. totally understandable if his earlier history at Gold Coast and that story of the culture there at that time is the only thing taken into account. And to be fair to the posters, he was not really a player that was scrutinised closely. So few games in too many years. His talent though was a given. But reading his comments from the latter part of 2019 and given that a stable relationship and parenthood have occurred. This does tend to put a persons thoughts and actions to a different level to that of a single play boy type. His training etc and dedication to getting his legs and body correct would, it seems, be a credit to him, his support base and the medical and conditioning people at MFC. Our recruiters or whoever organised this apparent coup deserve a "pat on the back". The 2019 picks may be the best ever. We may not get him into a game and so far has cost us little in financial sums. On the other hand I think we have gained so much by simply welcoming him and his family that the whole exercise has gained the MFC huge amounts of credibility with the Indigenous playing group. My head is spinning, thinking and hoping that we may see a winning game involving Harley and Kossy running around the forward line and Vanders clearing their way. the mind boggles ! Go Dees
  8. Having read that article, God life must be complicated or should that be interesting for some people. $5,000 is a large amount of money, just to get your rocks off ! Looking forward to the football, can not help it, guess I am a bit like the bloke wanting to give away $5,000, A little bit strange, the wife does not understand my obsession either. Whatever you are talking about ! Go Dees
  9. This is going to be a bit like If a goal (tree) is scored (falls in a forest) and nobody Cheers it (hears it) was it really scored (did it really fall) and in the end. Does it really matter. Definitely not as much as other years but better than losing. But I cannot see any supporters at anything until there is a viable vaccine. Go Dees Go Harley Go Kossy something good to think about !!
  10. Stupid free to give away, no brains or awareness of position or the score. Took a good competitive mark later but the negatives must have out weighed the positives. You never know this might have been the final nail. There was a new contract about now Round 16 or they were talking about one. My memory has gone where my hair has. might be totally wrong.
  11. Your right. He should have worn a hat !! and Hibberd held the ball upside down before he handballed, though photoshop could cut it out and rotate it (the ball) I suppose
  12. Yes agree they all look in good nick. no one obviously carrying any extra.
  13. So please does anyone know the status of fitness of the players? or are the all overweight and slow like me ?
  14. Its a nickname, and he is from the country, but now a ****ty slicker.
  15. Is there a list or is it a state secret ? who has fully recovered ? And who has not. they will not all be fully fit. and if some are not selected are there games for them that Casey will be engaged in. I have looked here and on MFC site and cannot see any list. I need a football fix. years ago I spent 12 months in Europe then another year in Canada. I survived that break but I am eager for this one to end
  16. That question, reminds me of an old mate, who asked the question, of the girl, after the first dance. Did not often get a second dance, but he worked on the theory that 5% would say yes. I do wonder what happened to “dags”
  17. Love the photos as well thanks any of Bennell or Kossy ? hoping we have two great players here ! was bored with Social Isolation feeling better looking to football Not sure how I will feel about the season 2020. The first round was a write off, for us and at least two other sides. Go Dees
  18. I take your point, It all starts at the top, and not just on the field. But it is on the field that we as supporters mostly see. But when Jackson and Roos were in charge I thought it was going well. i have read all the other posts, its a great discussion and we are all going basically in the same direction, Top business men without football brains or real interest in football just keep the bottom line above water, thats needed but you need more as you suggest, "We have to have top business acumen with top footy smarts as well in the same people. Footy-smart Pres, CEO, all directors, and obviously from there on down thru the Footy Dept.We just haven't had the footy brains right at the top (board level) for anywhere near long enough, over the past Half Century." Its been too long since a flag and I am not sure I personally have much long term planning left, I personally need football to be simple and play to win each game. Like this thread, and I liked Brock as a player, blue collar but too slow and now we can see why, what a pity. Go Dees
  19. I have been watching this while exercising. what a great game. Even our lesser players going hard Stynes what a champion. Jakovitch that mid air soccer goal. Could do no wrong. how-did we ever let Spaulding go? and I thought 32 Clarke played well but I cannot remember him. 91 I was going regularly to the second half of games but cannot remember him. what was his story?
  20. Would be good. If we had a M. Voss, or M. Ricciuto, or even (GHU) a J.Hird (as a captain) or as far back as a RDB. Who could grab a game by the throat and force it to our result by the shear strength of character or resolve of that individual. They probably made mistakes as well but Max kicking points at different times......... makes you wonder. The remainder of the year beckons, losing game one, puts us in as a back marker. 0-2 in a shorten season, well shorten probably says it all. Not acceptable.
  21. Yes agree mostly. a combination of poor role models, poor administrators, and very poor personal decision. he took the drugs. No wonder he was slow. Had the ability and the football smarts, but failed or our coaches failed to get it out of him. I think there are a number of players that did not perform as they might. TJ anyone ? birds of a feather. And we attracted them. we all make our own decisions, some of my friends failed to get past 65. But they kept hard at it. I went a bit different to them, still hoping for a flag before I go. or three. just hope it’s different now. I am sure it was with PJ and Roos. For 2020 go Dees we won’t forget it.
  22. Have watched this 3 times now. can only think, I hope all our forward line look at it and watch how the Ox Neitz Lyon and the wiz all attacked the ball and worked together. hell if Tom could be like The Ox
  23. Thanks again that was fantastic to watch. if only we had a couple like him now. those that did not see him play before his recos just would not believe how the ball followed him or how hard he hit packs and the heights he got to flying over players he was “special”. To quote a well known commentator
  24. Have a look on the MFC website for the photos of these two training together, Kossy getting a great example of application to reach a goal of playing AFL
