Wow, pretty definitive statement there Stu. I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I do believe in the benifits of a big preseason and being super fit going into round one. BK is good depth, will push hard for senior selection and provides a match up that some teams will struggle with. IMO our depth is still not what it needs to be, and BK with a tank offers a fair bit of versatility to the mix. If he ends up getting regular games, it won't say much for the likes of Kent, Jeffy, Vanders, etc whose spots he is vying for. The players know competition is increasing, I reckon BK might show a few up. You may well be correct, he might not be on our list next year, but I wouldn't put my house on it just yet.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS

Caro too uses the third person "in this journalist's opinion". Quite a few use variations of that. Old school. -
So what your saying is we can't reasonably discuss players strengths and weaknesses because we are mere mortals? Righto then.

RECRUITS WHO WILL HAVE THE MOST IMPACT IN 2017
Moonshadow replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd like to see Milkshake prove a few Druggie supporters wrong and have a good year. With a solid preseason he could become a valuable contributor each week. I like a bit of an underdog who gives his all. -
Is there training tomorrow? Where and when? Club web site says it's closed to media. Sorry if mentioned previously

With all due respect Saty I do not have you on ignore because some of your training reports are valuable, but I skim past most of your other posts because the continual defence of every player and shouting down posters who differ in opinion about players is also boring. It derails and deadends threads more often than not. Yes, I also see the irony in this post being off topic and expect it'll be deleted. Keep up the training reports. They are good reading.

I like to read discussion on the skills and merits of players such as Trengove, including foot speed. Thanks to those contributing to this. I chuckle at the irony of those that can't accept critical discussion about players and feel the need to use labels such as mob mentality, venting or bleating. I hope to get to training once or twice in the next couple of weeks and promise to not to get offended or upset if someone sees different on here. It's a footy forum FFS!

So if they were only injected with saline why did they tick the 'no' box when tested for drugs and asked if they had been administered any substances? -
That's the way Picket! Clearly your new meds have kicked in

Are you going to come home with a Vietnamese wife Biff? Sacre bleu!

Hmmmm... Steiner's mother's tongue. I'd like to meet her...

It was humour. Forget it stu. Personally I think the camp will benefit some but not most. IMO it's main outcome will be bonding, particularly for younger players. Of course all players are going to say publicly that it was a great experience, so Chunk's comments were in line with the club's view. He might truly think that, but he certainly had to say what he did. That's plainly obvious. Given its gruelling nature I'm relieved there were not more injuries. Dom's knee damage will set back his excellent preseason and that's the big cost. Salem's concussion adds to the worrying number he's already had. Sure these could've happened at Gosch's, but they didn't and are the cost of doing a fatigue-style camp where players were pushed to their limits doing unfamiliar activities away from a football environment. This is different from altitude training or Qld heat training at Maroochydoor. Was it worthwhile? Probably, it would be interesting to read the club's post season evaluation. I'd certainly love to have a quiet beer with Dom or Christian at the end of the year and hear their view.

Because players are regularly concussed by house bricks at Gosch's. Happens all the time...

Is that a set shot or a kick on the run? In which case they are quite different actions -

Good points DS. Hogan often contacts the ball very close to the point when it's on a 10-15 deg angle forward at the top. Watts tends to hit it when it's vertical. Not sure which is the more 'correct'. -

Watching Trac in senior games last year I noticed his ball drop at times was very high. Now this might be tweaked and work for him in the long term, but the fact that Chunk and JKH have made this comment is certainly food for thought. -

The family requested privacy. The family broke that. Fair game to reopen the thread. No one doubts the mods will be all over it. -
Opinions can change quickly in the AFL red. If he's injury free this year and struggles to impact he may be doubtful in 2018

Oh please... Perhaps the thread was locked to give James Hird and the family privacy as requested. Didn't take long for Alan Hird to shoot that down and open it up again. Fancy claiming it was a Julia Gillard conspiracy! -

Fancy claiming it was a Julia Gillard conspiracy. I spat out beer laughing when I heard that. Alan Hird should have kept his mouth shut lest we might've thought he was a fool. Now we know he is one. So much for Tania asking for privacy for the family. -
Jack 'Killa' Watts, by chance? Oh yeah, didn't recognise him without the tatts plastered everywhere
