Delistings/trades at end of the season
No. Wasn't seen in the mix. Roos liked Salem, wanted a deal to get a player and pick before 10 for Salem. Much more likely to have gone for Kelly if that didn't eventuate

Delistings/trades at end of the season
You're correct of course Boss, $600k might or might not be what the offer is, and we'll never know exactly. However due to the ever increasing SC, there must be a number of average AFL footballers earning around that mark, which was part of the point I was making

Delistings/trades at end of the season
I find it amazing that someone can get $600k per year over several years for arguably being an average sportsperson in the level they play. I understand it's the nature of the competition, supply and demand, they train hard, put their bodies on the line and yadda, yadda, yadda.... But seriously, $600k p/a, that's a shiteload of dosh! Has the competition grown too big too fast, is there too much money involved, are we expecting too much from young men? I shake my head every time I read of the money involved and wonder if we've created a monster (queue Frankenstein gif from Song). Sorry, rant over.

Harley Bennell had 39 disp on the weekend. Some of them were simply sublime. Hmmmmmm, could Roosy put him on the straight and narrow?

Delistings/trades at end of the season
You could be on the money there WJD, but sometimes these situations change quickly in trade week. If an A grade mid from another club (eg Treloar, Prestia, Danger) was available and prepared to come here, our first pick would more than likely be in the mix. If the other team insisted in our first pick, would we say no? Doubt it.

Until trade time and unless your are in the inner, inner circle it's really anyone's guess, and anyone's guess could end up being correct as well

Treloar is a very, very good mid. Would hope that we were in the mix. Will be an interesting trade period this year

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Ok thanks MC. I agree that NicNat is a great tap ruck who runs around a lot doing 1%ers (well... avg 2.7per game) but will have to agree to disagree that he is currently elite. I understand that you hold little value for stats, but nevertheless as an example, Dean Cox when he was elite was averaging around 22 disp and 6-7 marks and his goal assists were right up there. He also wasn't the sole ruck. I have watched WCE mostly on TV this year and found NN, as the main ruck, to be excellent at taping to advantage and following up, but he drifts in and out of games easily, providing a number highlights that the media salivate over. He's good, but not yet elite. Disagree in that NicNat is a one trick pony, he's better than that. But I agree that he is being developed nicely and the WCE mids are working well with him. Would I want MFC to trade for him? Sure, if his ties to WA weren't so strong and we looked a better destination. Cost would probably be prohibitive. He has massive potential that is only now being realised. Gawn is a good prospect and needs better support. Our second ruck options are thin, as are our high end mids stock.

You've dismissed my view on the basis that stats are meaningless and you've watched many Eagles matches, but provide nothing real to support your view that NicNat is now elite. If he doesn't much mark the ball (avg 1.27) despite being 201cm and having a great leap, if he doesn't get many possessions (disp avg 12), what does he do that makes him elite? He gets nearly 4 tackles per game, which is reasonable but not great. I acknowledge his tap work is very good and much of his 1%ers are also very good. He also has excellent speed and a fabulous highlight reel. But being a very good tap ruck who runs around a lot doing 1%ers does not make him elite. He might become elite, but IMO he is not currently elite .

No he's not. Not yet. Good tap ruck, athletic, good with 1%ers. Averaging just over 1 mark this year and 12 disp. He's improved his ruck work dramatically, but he's not elite.

He still takes very few marks, not many kicks or handballs. Averaging just over one mark per game and 12 disp this year. Good tap ruck though, good pressure work.

If Geelong don't get Danger, it leaves them cap space to go after another gun mid. Maybe Prestia and/or Treloar.
