Neither Frost nor Hunt have agility or vision, they are straight line quick but fumble easily and prone to long bomb the ball under panic. Frost particulary is frightening to watch with ball in hand. IMO both should be depth and rarely sighted beyond Casey. Having said that, Hunt is showing some promise as a born again forward. Once May, Lever, Hannan and the new and improved Jeffy (won't hold my breath) come back those two will hopefully be at Casey. I suspect they might be open for trade at end of year.

But Paulo, it's compulsory for all Melbourne players to fly for the mark/spoil at the same time to ensure we have no crumbers and the ball is transitioned nicely for an opposition goal. ?

Freo might say the same about Jesse and pick 6

In spells, that's not such a bad idea

Bartel on Brisbane's defence (and Melbourne's)
Moonshadow replied to TGR's topic in Melbourne Demons
And if we turn it over under pressure because we are so slow, then it's an outnumbered, out of position, overlap easy goal -
Spargo to ruck.

One-on-one under the 666 rule makes zone defence look so last century -

I would think those 3 are in danger of being dropped. Couldn't get past the paywall, apart from the 'former captain' bit, what else was in it?

I don't think Pig is the smartest footballer going around. I've listened to a few interviews and been surprised. His approach is simple: mark or spoil, grab ball, run off opponent, long penetrating kick forward to team mate. It's an old fashioned approach that has worked reasonably well in the past. But 666 has not helped our defence. This year I've noticed he doesn't do the defensive reset very well. That is, quickly get back into position, keep within touch of his opponent, get the zone working again. So when his kick goes astray or the ball is knocked loose, usually under pressure, he's caught out and away the overlap goes.

Why would I need to when you obviously know it all I'll write slowly for you, because clearly you struggle: I didn't claim not to be concerned with our current situation. The gif was intended to show how quickly Demonland goes into panic mode. That's all. Move along now

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
Moonshadow replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wild speculation -
Hard to do that without speed, pd If we had a bunch of quick mids that were good at run and spread (e.g. Fantasia, Smith, McGrath, Shiel, Zacha, Heppell, Merrett) perhaps there would still be a spot for a slower inside mid such as Jones who balances needs. When a guy like Lockard comes in after 2 weeks and surprises with his pace and spread, you just know that the game is quickly moving past Jones

Thanks for telling me how I think.

Old dee, have you noticed that Weid is significantly younger than Tmac and May? Hard to perform at a high level for years when you are young and only played 20 something games. As I said, let's see towards the end of the year

I'd prefer to risk signing him later in the season, because by then we will get a clearer picture of his worth. If he struggles it will be on the club's terms, if his form improves he will get good coin. I'm more concerned about the form and value for money of May and Tmac at the moment than that of Weid

So a tall forward has played 22 games in 3 years. How many games had Max played after 3 years? Different reasons, obviously. The key number is 22 games Don't know if hes worth 700 or if that's even true, but the people on here believing he's a spud or calling for him to be traded are pathetic

It takes more than 4 months for a guy his size to build fitness from GCS level to AFL premium level. I read the article as saying that the standards at GCS were low and he now needs to aim higher.

Goodwin rejects notion that Dees list is compromised.
