If anyone can remember the end to the 87 season, we won the last 5 games to sneak into 5th spot after 23 years of pain. We had to win the last game away to Footscray and relied on the Hawks to beat Cats at Kardinia. Just drawing on the similarities to this year. The point being when we did make finals we did damage. COME ON!!!

Given that the pres, board, CEO and football department were more or less hand picked and paid for by the afl, if there was a push from the afl for mfc to become the new northern territory franchise who at the club would stand in their way?
-
Struggled to read the play and looked like he had no confidence. We've all had those types of games where we just can't get our hands on the ball. I'd put Him back to Casey for the rest of the year, he'll be back round 1 2014.

My feeling is that ths whole paul roos betting plunge is a load of crip. Punters can only bet 20 on it so the bookies couldn't care less about losing money on it. just a publicity stunt by the bookies and it has worked as everyone is talking about it.
-
He is quoting Roos in the article. Don't think it's legal to put quotes unless it's verbatim so would say it's fairly solid.
-
We will get Roos, I'll back it for sure now. We (afl) will give him whatever he needs to make it work.
-
The question should be is who is going to ultimately decide our next coach, as we have clearly not got a good track record of picking coaches. Not Gary Lyon and certainly not the board. I trust that the AFL realise we cannot make these appointments by ourselves and allow PJ to run with it. For me, we need a coach who can work a miracle, if not Paul Roos I think someone like Denis Pagan has potential. Our players need life lessons not football lessons right now, a coach who can offer wisdom and get our players out of their current mental state.

I don't think coaching experience or uni degrees are necessary to head a fd.. Actually what we seem to lack in our fd are people with heart and drive and thirst for hard work. I think ox brings this to the table and the sooner he is involved the better. We can get these experienced people to replace the other useless fd staff after the season ends. Happy for ox to head the fd, think he will help to improve the culture and let's see how he evolves in the role, can't be worse than what we have now.

the sellar inclusion for this week is why the bookies have got gold coast as favourites now. a big body, can imagine why recruiters liked him hence going in the draft early. but he is only a big body, cannot do the fundamental things that are required of a big man. id say nev jetta would outmark sellar.

Fair to say from the list below Sellar, Rodan, Gillies and Macdonald will not be at MFC next year. Pederson was lucky to get 2 years, hopefully he can show something. Davis and Tynan better get a move on. 2013 uncontracted players --- Watts, Sylvia (UFA), Davey (RFA), Taggert, Gawn, Tynan, Fitzpatrick, Nicholson, Evans, MacDonald, Sellar, Jetta, Davis, Couch ®, Magner ®, Rodan, Gillies, Clisby ®, Stark ®

Yeh good call reckon malthouse won't go for the throat against neeld. Can see Carlton building 5-6 goal lead then they'll back off..
-
Robinson has improved he can come and join us for some bruise free footy! No watts is too soft he it's win win for him to traded.
-
Watts for Bryce Gibbs?
-
I hope you're right
-
Doubt there will be much interest in Davey. I am suspicious that Sylvia's recent good form is driven by the fact that he needs a good year to increase his market value for free agency - probably his agent got in his ear. We could get someone ok in exchange for watts.
-
Watts will be trade bait. A good experienced midfielder would be good exchange for us. Davey and sylvia will go. That will free up a fait bit of spending money for us.
-
Fair to say the clean out at the end of this year will be as big as last year. Looking at the 2013 uncontracted group I'm comfortable with that. Gawn and Evans will earn extensions. Magner and couch should get promoted. The rest are up in the air, but for sure there will be lot of change to our list again by 2014.
