Bail needs to learn to lower his eyes and hit up a target rather than going for goal every time he's ~50m or less out.

He definitely deserves some of the blame, but the players (except a select few such as Watts, Toumpas, Jamar) get away with a lot of crappy performances.

I think he earned a start after his game last week. He is much more effective when he's fresh and the other 35 guys on the field have played 3 quarters, though.

I never said that he bears no responsibility, but some people on here make it out as if it is only he and some members of the admin that are responsible for our on field performances. The players are there to PLAY. They didn't do that in the first 2 weeks of the season; I don't think Mark Neeld was entirely at fault for that.

Davey is the sub. Confirmed.

I disagree. The players can choose to chase, tackle, apply pressure for 4 quarters, or they can shirk contests and play unaccountable footy. The coach can only do so much.

I didn't mean that if McKenzie is tagging Beamer that Beamer will have a big day; I meant that I think Beamer will be up and about for this game. I wouldn't mind seeing Neeld put McKenzie on him.

Hope to see Davey as the sub and Frawley take Brown. Who's McKenzie going to take? Beamer? I have a feeling that Moloney is going to have a very good game today...

I get the feeling that you've worded this incorrectly.

I'd say they will play finals. Say 14 wins gets you into the finals (as it did last year): Port only need 9 more wins from 17 games (can go 9-8). You can pencil them in for wins against GC, Brisbane, St Kilda, GWS and WB. They should beat Carlton at home, North Melbourne, and Richmond at home. That would leave them having to win one more match out of Carlton (away), Cats x2, Sydney (home), Collingwood (home), Essendon (away), Hawthorn (home), Adelaide, Fremantle (away). I hope they make it...it's always nice seeing a team that has struggled do well. It gives me hope for the Dees.

Casey Scorpions v Williamstown
Good Times Grimes replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes there is definitely a limit. I'm not sure what it is though. ...A half useful response. -
And here was I thinking this was a Jack Grimes thread. Too many Jacks to keep track of.
-
Sylvia didn't start to turn it on until the last quarter, and Jack Viney was missing. I'm not saying Jones was incredible, I'm saying that he was decent and did enough both against GWS and in the three weeks prior to earn his spot this week. I think McKenzie for Viney is a straight swap, as is Strauss for Jetta.

I wonder if Gillies will actually play on a HFF. He can't be any worse there than he is in the back half. Looking forward to reading what has become a weekly live play by play of Hogan lighting it up. -
I thought Jones was decent last week, and he has been one of our best in the opening month. He is one of the last players on our team that needs "a week for reflection in the VFL".

Care to elaborate?

We're in! The longest current playoff drought is over! How about the Capitals? They've been surging lately...I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them go a long way in the East. Detroit is currently sitting outside the playoffs for the first time in most peoples' memories, while Columbus is clinging on to eighth with their lineup packed full of all stars *SARCASM*. I really hope to see a Leafs-Canadiens first round matchup... it would make for an awesome series. The East is almost settled, with Ottawa, New York Rangers and Winnipeg all battling for the last 2 spots. In the West, it's between Minnesota, Columbus, Detroit and Dallas for the final 2 spots, but the Stars' hopes are fading fast.

Must get a legit crumbing forward this free agency period
Good Times Grimes replied to What's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's a lot of different thoughts crammed into one sentence. Milne is also 3.5 years older than Rodan. I'd much rather see us target LeCras, as unlikely as he is to switch clubs. He is just what we need. -
I've read several reports saying Black is a chance to play this weekend. I don't think Rich and Rockliff will ever reach the heights that Black did, and there's no doubt that Black is one of the greatest mids in the last 25 years. At this point in his career, though, I don't see him as being as good as Rich or Rockliff. While he is still very good, he is not the player he once was. He is 34, after all.
-
I'd like to see him go to Black. I rate Rich and Rockliff more highly, but Black always tears us up.
-
I no longer think that we will come last, but last week there were many on here saying that we'd be lucky to win a game for the season.
-
Brown will monster McDonald in one on ones, I don't think this matchup would work. I'd rather see Frawley take Brown and Garland take Merrett, but we will soon see what Neeld thinks.

It's amazing what confidence develops within a week haha
-
We'd still finish ninth...

I've tipped all of those teams to win except for the Crows. You never know...
