You realise the Greene's number are almost identical to Nathan Jones ? Whilst you don't base judgement purely on stats - the one stat is that you would never get Greene for pick 23.

I seriously can't fathom why many posters on this board even support our club. It is such a miserable existence with no hope, no optimism and everything we touch turns to crap. We can't trade properly because there should be players banging our door down to come to the club. We can't even get HL into a Melbourne jumper for his announcement about him joining our club. Do these posters derive even the slightest bit of enjoyment out of our club or is it just an exercise in self flagellation ? .

I hang my hat on the fact we were leading into the last quarter in 9 games last year that we lost. Our list is no worse than last year with our only loss being Frawley for the net gain of Lumumba, Gartlett and hopefully some impact from Hogan. One more year of decent coaching from Roos and co. I need to go into the season with some optimism.

The disposal efficiency of our backmen this year was exceptional - simple reason is because we chipped the ball across the backline on every occasion and then when we opened up the opposite side but would hold and chip back across the backline again. What we lacked is someone who would take on the game and run from half back - this is was HL does in spades. We lacked any sort of adventure out of the back half and thats exactly what HL brings to our club.

You are arguing against yourself - we should have $$$$ to throw around - correct. Players want money more than success - if that is the case - where is the queue lining up to come to the door. I disagree that players want money more than success - they can have both. I talked to 2 ex players and they both said that if they are offered 500K by their own successful club and 600K by Melbourne - they would take the successful club every day. Dawes came to us because we offered significantly more than Collingwood did - same with Clark. I have little doubt that we have been throwing $$$$'s around trying to lure players - from what I am seeing I can only conclude that the players don't want our $'s and the reasons are staring us in the face. We went to the AFL to ask for assistance in the draft - why ? because we are such a great club ? We stink it up big time and I can see this boat turning under Roos but very slowly at the moment. I dont think that we haven't put out feelers for all sorts of players - I would suggest they just dont want to come.

Truth is no one knows who we have targeted, what we have offered and the reactions to the offers by both the player and the club. You are looking at the outside cover of book with no idea of what is written inside.

Im just not sure where the "debacle" idea comes from. Forget Lumumba, Garlett and Frost (even Stretch as he is father/son and dare I say it - a project) - they are icing. The cake is pick 2 and 3. We either trade out of 2/3 for a good player or we keep the really good draft picks and use them ( and hopefully develop the players better than we have in the past).
