My final bench: Blease, Kent, Tappy, (Sub) DaveyBlease needs to come in because he's young and brings excitement to the team, I thought Tappy played alright last week and kent was good but just innacurate. Davey was ok as the sub again and for me retains that spot, if not then either swap him ith Blease or Rodan gets his spot. Both Fitzy and Spencer keep their respective tall spots.

I've always been quite keen for Mark Williams to be our next coach but I will be quite happy with Rocket. Experienced coach, smart operator, has taken a team to a GF, his other team to two consecutive prelims, and I really think certain players would blossom under him. In some ways I think it would be better to have him as opposed to Roos because it would be very easy to get a messiah feeling going with Roos whereas I think people will be more tempered if we bring in Choco or Rocket.

If Clisby gets more weeks than C. Brown then...
Pates replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm not impressed that we've rolled over for this but I guess he can play some VFL finals and get to play in a successful team. I really hope Brown doesn't get off, I will be filthy if the tribunal rolls on him. -
The club has had terrible form in recent times with pushing veterans out the door. If he's finishing up I would've thought it's because he sees the writing on the wall. If he wants to go on then he should be given the right to plead his case to the incoming coach. I actually think he's done ok playing regularly as the sub, he set up Byrnes opportunity to get us into the game early in the last and then scored the goal to give us a flicker.

Just saw Riolis tackle, talk about protected species. And yet again the MRP has looked only at the injury result and not the action, Riolis had the potential to hurt his oppositions head as with what happened to Trenners on Dangermouse, Clisbys there is no effing video evidence, in fact we see the injured player remonstrating on the ground perfectly fine and then the camera cuts later cuts to Sexton holding his shoulder. What a joke. And on another note, how did the FC seriously see Browns kick as accidental? -

I remember watching the game and seeing Sexton going off the ground and trying to work out where it happened. If anything it happened during the wrestle which is completely accidental and not Clisby's fault. Fight it MFC. -
If Jack Viney doesn't get the Rising Star Nomination, I will ...
Pates replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Couch got it in round 14, so I gotta believe that this is Viney's week. Any other young players put in put in good games, apart from Kent? Viney is the player that gives me hope right now, there is no player at the club who hunts the ball like he does. Jonesy included IMO. -
Some good summation considering you haven't seen the game yet. I will say this for putting Watts back, it changed that game when Craig did it in the second quarter and again in the third quarter, but he needed to be forward when the game was I'm the balance.
-
Agree, as I was watching the end of the quarter I was saying they cannot score a goal and one to us would be awesome. What happens? We get a shot on goal and it misses, straight up the other end and goal. That cost us big time. We were our own worst enemy last night.
-
Positives: - IMO we were at least even in terms of the better of the play. We dominated the last quarter and were better in the third quarter, and won the first. The midfield did their job relatively well this week, something I don't thing I've said all year. - Viney, what can be said that hasn't been said already? Kids a gun and is being asked to do a job usually expected of a 21+ year old, and he's doing a sterling job. Should get his we deserved NAB rising star nod this week, a disgrace if he doesn't. - Fitzy, played a lone hand up forward and managed to take some excellent marks in difficult conditions. Missed that easy shot at the end, but a blemish on an otherwise good performance. - Jordie and his job on Ablett, yes he had help but he was excellent and should be acknowledged by all this who criticise him. Don't worry I'm not asking you to eat humbe pie or anything, but definitely should be recognised for doing one of the best jobs on GA that anyone has done all year. - Jonesy, he's just Jonesy and always should be in the positives. Looked like a train wreck and dived into every contest wanting more. Negatives - This was a winnable game BIG TIME. We had it all in front of us and needed to take it, but didn't. When we needed to be clean we gifted them possession. When we needed goals we kicked behinds. And when we needed to take the game on and go all in, we slowly worked it on the boundary line and persisted with Watts as loose man in the defence. If these were instructions from Craig then there is no way in hell he should be coach next year. The suns were also down on rotations, how about we take advantage of that?! As I said in the gameday thread, suns didn't win this we lost it. - Kicking for goal. 10.17 is a poor effort and indicative of how bad we are. There were some basic shots that Casey players would be [censored] at missing, do your bloody job when the team needs you. I'm looking at Byrnes who should be dropped for his misses, he does his job and we win the game. - Trengove, I keep waiting for the old Trenners to break through but it doesn't seem to happen, another underwhelming game from him. I really want him to be the player we thought he would be! Overall a much better effort, but I'm sick of paying my membership for effort.
-
Viney should win the rising star this weekend, has been outstanding.
-
This will be really frustrating loss. Because we have been even the whole night with them but the two things that will cost us will be disposal and kicking for goal. Suns didn't win this game, we lost it.
-
Drop Byrnes. He has kicked us to a probable loss.
-
Get the ru net out there and tell them to run! They're down on rotations and struggling with cramp and energy.
-
That miss from Byrnes was so costly, a pretty straight forward shot, we would've had the first goal which would've bed. Huge and the momentum to make a charge. But now we are f---. Finish the bloody game Melbourne, near enough is not good enough.
-
Ok we're playing well but not finishing our good work which is really really frustrating. Now theoretically we should be finishing the game better because they are down on the bench (from what I gather) so they need to take that with some confidence. Now a negative. If I was coaching any other teams v Melbourne I would tell them to do a torpe ever single time out of kick ins because we sh!t our britches every time a club does that, case in point the last goal. We were even in the box seat to send it back and we stuff it up. First goal Melbourne, c'mon!
-
Yet again, I have to ask why did we upgrade him if we're not going to play him? Clearly the club can't see a future for him at the club otherwise he'd be playing given his consistent Casey form
-
We're screwed, those words should be banned from this site.
-
We've missed some very getable chances, in the end we've had more scoring shots. We've played crap for 90% of the game but are still in it thanks to the late flurry. I said it at 3 quarter time in the last game v GWS, if we get the first goal then we will overrun them and I reckon that's the case here as well. Towards the end we started to see players back themselves more and more, that HAS to continue. If we go back into our shells Giants win, simple as that.
-
Of all people to back themselves, Pedderson does it and kicks a goal. I'm hoping a few others look at that and say, "well if can do it, so can I".
-
Jones and Viney, the only two who are giving a s$.
-
Clisby was in trouble and Dunn was jogging around him. Bugger off Dunn, you're done.
-
For the love of god can we please teach the players how to kick during the next preseason.
-
Disagree, we ran average teams that weren't willing to chase off their feet, but the moment we came up against elite fitness were destroyed.
-
I've been a defender of Trenners but unless his performance improves drastically next half he should given a run at Casey.
