  1. Thrice? Ye Olde beezle most indubitably attended a private venerable tower of Babal and digested snippets of Latin.
  2. The upside for weed is huge. He is still growing and another two off seasons and he will be formidable. Strong, heavy but athletic and takes the ball high. His ruck work improved out of sight last season, which speaks volumes in terms of a player willing to do the work to improve. Love his kicking action too. Smooth.
  3. Did you tell him that?
  4. This thread is turning into a psychedelic head [censored]. Must be the Amsterdam hash. Inception dees stylee
  5. Ouch. Paid the price today for doputting bets on early. Despite the soft track has favoured leaders all day. Infuriating. Was evident early but too late to change. Punters lament: changed my selections to trailing horses from Shamook, From Within, Best of Days and Thinking Big. Double ouch
  6. Cost me there. Changed from From Within
  7. Too late. I put all my bets on before the first so locked in. The second was not so leader dominated, but still i think horses will need to be in the first 4 or 5 (which is what i planned for), at least until late in the day.
  8. My best is Roosevelt at Randwick. Race 6 no 7. With the cliffs of moher in the cup. Tricky day. The rain muddled me up a bit as i was selecting for a leaders track with firm going but the rain has taken the edge off and all horse should get their chance. Like Extra Brut but feel it is a touch short.
  9. Gold. If the pole was in fitzroy a hipster would videotape himself reading it aloud on beta tape and release an audio version on cassette tape.

  11. I like the fact he is a left foot kick. Means with Salem and Hibbo we have 3 lefties down back, which as well as creating a nice balance helps us exit the ball. He's also a reliable kick, which is important everywhere, but most of all down back. I think, if there are no fitness issues our starting back six next season will be omac, jets, may, lever, hibbo and Salem. Lever is probably the least of reliable kick of that group. But not too bad. The others are all excellent kicks. Which means we will have a back six who rarely turns the ball over when exiting defence. So important. Helps also to set up attacks as well. I suspect they will take a leaf out of the hawks and eagles play book and do a lot of practice switching the ball.
  12. PD much of what you post is interesting and often insightful. But fair dinkum you sometimes post some perplexing things (not to mention playing the man with specious insults). I mean what does this actually mean? What does a spectator who has something on the line look like? A warrior spectator? Obviously it would not be easy. It has a similar feel to it as the old 'it's soft supporters like you that make our club unsuccessful' chestnut. Anywho, just musing - I know you don't care what I or others think. The Ray Hadley of DL. Actually that's not right. He has no clue. Maybe Derryn Hinch.
  13. That's certainly not in his favour in terms of interest from the dees. We really need to get some better kicks into the team, in particular wings and outside player who deliver the ball inside 50. Surely this draft period they will focus on skillful players with better than average kicking skills, albeit ones with the required desire for the contest. Of course they don't grow on trees. Fritter is the template.
  14. Fixed.
  15. How's his kicking?
  16. Spartacus would give provide some good avatar options.
  17. I wasn't suggesting I was in the majority. Agree may will be a terrific and important addition.
  18. I'm in the other camp. I'm really disappointed we have lost Jessie and not fussed about the pick value. I agree with the argument that pick value is a pretty meaningless concept really. We are at the stage of needing to do much more than get best available talent - we are putting the final pieces of the puzzle for a premiership team. May is a big part of that puzzle and i have no doubt that they have players in mind for all of their draft picks. Hopefully that includes a couple of kids with some speed and who can hit targets On previous form they will unearth a couple of mature age gems like VDB and Hannan.

  20. Thanks tarzan. Seems a likely scenario. No extension and leave at end of contract. I'd be okay with that because he would be totally shooting himself in the foot contract and pay wise if he didn't try to have the best season he possibly could. Might snag a flag befor e going, which he aint going to get at Freo in the foreseeable future. Does your colleague have a sense that the key driver is wanting to live in Perth? Or is there something else in play (eg dissatisfaction with the MFC)?
  21. I heard Gil on Trade radio. Not ha huge Gil fan but i have to say he's gone up in my estimation. A prickly Gil was beautifully dismissive of Sam 'i am an authoritative, respected and influential voice in football and my opinions carry much weight and gravitas ' Mcclure. Worth a listen.
  22. Dr Cool can always go forward if needed. Yet to kick a goal in AFL football but i'm sure he would slay them up forward.
  23. personally i'm quite content. My strong preference is for Hoges to stay. But if he leaves so be it.
  24. Well that's cleared up your position.....
  25. Maybe. Using a game day analogy it is possible the game will be called off.
