Any issues with maxy? Did he train ok and move freely?

He had some swagger last week. Looked pretty aggro and fired up too. Gave a mouthful to Danger at one point after smashing him in a tackle. I said earlier in the year that he had got much bigger. He seems to have got bigger again. Seriously big unit now - with a very long reach. Developing into a handy second ruck as well. Which is perfect as it allows TMac to stay in the forward line, Hoges to play as a roaming center half forward and max to drop into the hole down back.

I am going to try and stay out of this thread because reading some of the frankly ridiculous comments (we must act! he has to prove he want to stay! he needs to sign! yes he is gun, but we could trade in another gun! we don't need him! i'm not saying we SHOULD trade him, but if he wants to go home! etc etc) does my head in. Why on god's good earth would the the club risk that culture by putting any pressure on Jessie or considering trading him. I mean please. He is a loved team member who the club has nurtured and looked after during incredible personal issues. One of the brothers. Been at the club since he was 17 years old. The MFC is his his extended .Goody won't have it. And thank go for that. What about trading Weed instead (jokes)?

I think many don't recognise how critical his running is. Covers more ground rhan anyone and gut runs to get across to outlet kicks and stop/slow transition. The whole team has improved this defensive running in tge back half of rhe season, which has been the key factor in our ability to restrict opposition scoring in the last third of the season (where have the calls our defensive unit is weak gone?). But in the first two thirds of the season anb was one of the few players willing or able to cover the sort of ks and do the gut runnning required for the dees to be competitive with the top teams. I have little doubt goody would have used anb as an example to his team mates as what is required at this level in terms of running and effort.

You make a good point. That said i'd prefer he play the defensive winger role than Tyson. Maybe brayshaw could play that role and Viney in the guts - or the two alternate. But as noted Gawny, Brayshaw, Oliver and Tyson have developed strong connection and i worry Viney may not immediately pick up where he left of in terms of connection and synergy with Max and the other mids. All that said not a bad problem to have.

I think he might play a similar role to jkh. Outside, defensive winger. The position tyson played in earlier this season. Tyson struggled in that role. Even though jv is an inside beast he is better suited to it. He will still get his contested ball but is quicker than tyson and more naturally defensive. A like for like swap with jkh in terms of role and doesn't upset the synergy tbat you rightly say has been terrific in recent weeks.

I was his source. As per Monday at 5:57pm (with some small edits): Tyson is fit to play. they will select him. His ability to win contests were very important in the wc game and the first half of the gws. Both were played at near finals like intensity. they will want his physical strength and ball winning skills on Friday. Viney is a certainty to be selected. But he is not a swap for kent and surely will mostly play as a mid. Which creates a bit of an issue in so far as tyson needs to be in the middle. Perhaps viney can play an outside, wing role. They will want hannan in the side for his forward smarts but also his physicality and strength. So who comes out? Unfortunately for spargo and jkh it will be one of them, with jkh being the unlucky one. He was the in for hannan against gws and plays the outside wing role that viney could slot into. Will be tough on him as he was terrific against gws and by all accounts was one of the standouts at training on sat

Their post bye record is a funny one. Surely it is an anomaly but at the same time maybe it is in the back of the Cat's player's minds. Certainly pundits have mentioned it as a factor and if they have moved training sessions the club must think it is. The other interesting thing from a psychological perspective is i reckon they are under more pressure than us. Sure we are inexperienced in terms of finals but they have a lot of eggs in the holy trinity basket. Their premiership window is closing and they may feel they need to win it this year before it shuts. If we get a few goals up they might start stressing about that window sliding down (that is a a lot of metaphors in one paragraph). They don't have the same elite fugazi skills as us so maybe the white noise will mess with their minds.

As i said nothing wrong wirh having a discussion a year out. There is something wrong with demanding a player prove his loyalty by extending and deciding if he doesn't yoy MUST trade him. Particularly a player who has shown loyalty already and rejected huge offers to stay with us

Did you miss rhe fact he is not a free agent unti 2021? And lets pretend he did become a free agent to be clear you would support shopping hogan if he did not prove his loyalty by commiting to an exstension?
