  1. I missed a trick. I was going to post yesterday that it all could get quite meta if they start posting about our thread about them and we then start posting about their thread about about us posting about them. But didn't
  2. His name is lesion
  3. Yep. Surely he will be the one to give maxy a chop out.
  4. That tweet can no longer be seen. Or at least i cant see it. Strange
  5. Ah yes i meant part way through the second. But i didn't realise it was so late in the second. Makes it even worse. I'll edit my post. Ta
  6. I was terribly disappointed in how we played last week. The first quarter was fun but really the blues gifted us a fast start with zero pressure. We had 10 inside 50s before their first, which did not come until after half way through the quarter. We should have kicked 8 such was our dominance and opportunities. And the rest of the match was simply terrible. I cannot recall being so disappointed in a performance. Not even in Perth for the preliminary. And not at any point last year, when at least there was the mitigating fact that half our team were injured. We had almost a full list to choose from on Saturday. We were 7 goals up with two and bit quarters of the game to go. Quarters that are 20% shorter than normal so really that is more like a 50 point lead. But unbelievably we should have lost that game. We were lucky the blues did not turn up until the second quarter. And even luckier their kicking was so poor in the last 3. Of great concern was it appeared we ran out of gas. I thought this team was completely dedicated to getting us back from hell and that dedication would show in their fitness levels after the enforced break (and to be fair for it did for some - Harley, Rivers and tracc being stand outs). Maybe the group simply wasn't disciplined enough to work their backsides off when in isolation, without the club tracking their every moment and session. Perhaps Spargo encouraging a a first year player to break the rules and get suspended was evidence of a wider malaise. Maybe despite all the words they simply don't want it enough. Of great concern was the complete lack of on field leadership when we needed it from Brayshaw, Jones, May and worst of all a player who seems to get missed a bit when it comes to public criticism, Melksham. I am over his one handed attempts at marks and too cute by half kicks. The only players who seemed to say we are going to change the direction of this match were Trac, a first gamer in Rivers and Fritter and Hunt, who despite being quiet in the second half pushed themselves to their limits in the last few minutes to run, pressure and tackle. Of great concern was the complete absence of positional moves by Goodwin to stop Carlton's evident momentum. I can't think of one change Goodwin made. What was Richardson doing? Maybe Goody casualness in the press about the Spargo incident (we will look after them and welcome them back blah blah blah) and the Carlton game (learnings shmernings) is evidence of them not been ridden hard enough or the expectations not being high enough (and yes i know he would have had a different message behind closed doors but please, a level of public anger in both instances would have been appropriate). Maybe the song palaver, which seemingly was result of Harmes being too keen to play with his go pro toy he seemed to be giddy to have been given by fox, was symptomatic of a group that does not have its head in the game. Maybe, perhaps. This season is a truly unique situation and as many have correctly pointed out who knows the impact of covid, the break and everything else. Again as many have noted teams as infallible as the tigers look dazed and confused. So i'm going to summon up my normal level of optimism and look forward to Sunday's game with hope and the expectation we will win. I'll even tip us. And i'll do my bit to get us going. Ever since i changed my avatar to the grumpy Garry Baker things have gone from bad to worse for the dees. Injuries, performance, dramas. And then we had bush fires and a pandemic. Coincidence? Maybe. But i'm not willing to that take risk. So happy go lucky, cheerful Garry is back. And so are the dees. And we will back at the g by the end of July. Mark my words Go red leggers
  7. Have backed hawks to win over 39 points and total match points under 129. The latter l looks a lock. I hope the tigers keep playing rubbish
  8. I had expected and hoped he we would come back as one of the fittest teams. I have to say i'm a bit concerned we looked like e ran out of gas on the weekend. Carlton seemed a lot fresher. As did the saints and suns in the two other games i watched (they were both really impressive i have to say)
  9. You kicked 12 goals in a game? And a dream you say?
  10. Great work Andy keeping us all up to date with dees related media. You have been doing power of work. And credit where credit is due the clubs media has been telly terrific of late. Excellent fan engagement. Things like these clips and the zoom session with goody etc are what i have been banging on about in terms of content. Doesn't have to be academy award level. Just engaging. Look how may views these clips have already. Tt show the demand for such content
  11. To be fair Oliver was not on him then They moved cripps forward presumably because Oliver was giving him a hiding
  12. This. I reckon we paid overs but that is the very definition of a moot point now. And besides we recruited him to plays a specific role. One that needs other players doing their job to make it work (which is one reason we paid overs as his success depends on other factors). As was the case at the crows. So his value is dependent on getting the other pieces of the puzzle right. On that i really don't understand how Smith fits. Lever needs a player like omac or petty in the side. May is not enough, particularly because they have asked him to slim down, play higher and be more offensive than he was at gc.
  13. This is absolutely true. One of the biggest myths in footy that wet weather is a leveler.
  14. Knowing our luck all that will mean is him flying for marks he should stay down on
  15. A gun. But i don't think he works as hard defensively as he should
  16. Sums me up well
  17. None of the other games on the Sunday are listed as free to air. The sunday arvo game rolls in to the news (which is why it starts at 3:20) so channel 7 wouldn't want the other ones so is perhaps it is an oversight?
  18. The down the ground shot, ideally from high up in the stand, is the one they need to use more as it gives you the bets look at where every one is ahead of the ball. It is why i sit in the Posnford stand at the g.
  19. Could not agree more. Its not just the frustrating camera angles, though that is annoying. The lack of explanation about tactics, positioning etc etc is infuriating. I mean what are their so called special comments people paid to do?
  20. Agree on both points. Inexcusable someone didn't gut run to space to provide an option. In addition to giving him the option of passing it to that player it might have dragged players away from the fritter contest or from the other side giving him a chance to cross to a free player there. Also why didn't some of our bigger players gut run to the fritter contest given that was the most likely spot Lever was gong to kick it and there was time to do so? And we were totally lucky we won that ball. The blues stuffed up not doing so as they the numerical advantage and couldn't take clean possessions. Once they failed to win that ball it was game over
  21. Fair question. I heard Hunt say it post match, when he said the following: “I think they got one extra back which we didn’t deal with as best as we could, and we sort of just made some crucial mistakes, especially going forward. I guess that is not completely proof, given he says i think but i thought i heard another player say it too (may maybe?).
  22. Perhaps if you were 97% less obtuse people will understand what it is you are actually trying to say. I think you will find being 97% less condescending might help too (i mean 'Sad really that it's taken till Dee Z to understand what the thread was about'- really?). Take some ownership of that.
  23. Some really good points. Our fast ball movement and pressure gave us all the momentum. I think we had 8 or so inside 50s before their first. At quarter time Teague's focus would have been that priority one is stop our momentum by firstly slowing down our ball movement and therefore the game (as opposed to getting the momentum back by attacking and scoring themselves). To do so he dropped a player back. And no doubt demanded his team increase their pressure (which was woeful in the first quarter). Then the second quarter become an arm wrestle. As you say when the game slowed down and there was less space in our forward line we repeatedly turned the ball over. And the big concern is that has long been an issue for us. A combination of poor kicks and poor decision makers. If we had won that arm wrestle in the second and scored a couple more goals their approach in the second half would have had to change. They would have had to attack to bridge the gap. As it was they could simply keep chipping away at the deficit. Which is why it was so painful to watch. Only trac stood up and had the courage to attack. Everyone else seemed happy to play for time. May said as much in a presser yesterday. Agree Jackson should have been moved into the ruck. Perfect opportunity as their ruckman is also young. And his leap provides a point of difference and unpredictability and would have stopped them simply sharking Maxy's hit outs as they started doing after the first quarter (what is that about?- it seems to happen all the time). As DeeZephr pointed out we barely took any contested marks up forward. Tmac didn't have one, nor did Jackson. Playing Jackson in the ruck would have allowed Maxy could go forward and provide a much needed contested marking option and create some scoring opportunities and wrest the momentum back. On momentum it didn't appear we tried anything tactically to get it back or at the least stop theirs. How about Harley deep out of the square allowing Fritter to play high half forward and giving him chop out from Jones, who was killing him. Or Smith up forward and Fritter back. Or May and Tmac swapping. Something. Oliver was beating Cripps, their best mid by a country mile (arguably close to the best in the league). What did Teague do? Move him forward. And it almost won them the game. I'm no goody knocker, and the risk of giving grist to the mill of those who are, tactically he (and Richo to be fair) did not have great day.
