  1. You've obviously never won..... anything.
  2. I'm with you buddy, I just admired PA. Young teams, meaningless games, many a blow out. As Buckley said in his excellent presser, you need a reward for effort and many of our players haven't had that. Let's hope they get something today.
  3. Well it's moot I know but I can't agree. Matt Jones has had 33 possessions and 7 tackles compared to Lumumba 17 possessions and 6. Hard to mount an argument for Lumumba. He's been horrible and I don't know how he's still in the team. Perhaps Roos has gone to him and said "While I'm coach you won't be dropped". That's what he said to Rhyce Shaw.
  4. I reckon Miller could have offered something on field. I agree with the rest other than the depiction of Bruce. He was treated terribly by the list management administration at the time. I was no great fan but he was a talented footballer who would have stayed in better circumstances. And of course taking the captaincy from Green, throwing him out of the leadership group and appointing Grimes and Trengove was an absolute masterstroke. Not. Better list management would have seen us use some of the many early picks we had used on experienced players. We completely lost balance in the player list and we are still recovering. Our list management in the last 2 or 3 years under Daniher and Cameron were poor as well. Besides poor picks we didn't turn enough players over.
  5. I'm of the view that if we trade players with AFL first 22 qualifications we should use them as garnish with early picks for very good players. Otherwise they stay. IMO we are now past trying to pick players like Michie, Riley and Newton as we have enough depth to back our own. If we are going to trade Watts and Howe they should be bundled with our first round pick for someone like Prestia. Trading Watts for (say) pick 25 would be just so dumb. We don't need youth, we need players who can play and we don't need species like those above.
  6. Gotta get it to use it. I'm an unashamed McDonald fan. I've got to confess I left Etihad at half time on Sunday as I was the guest of a Bulldogs supporter who was giving me the shytes with his sanctimonious editorial of the game. Better to miss a half than lose a friend. On the train on the way home I read the game day thread on DL where McDonald was being derided. I thought to myself "what about the backline players that weren't getting the ball, weren't in the contest and weren't contributing at all". Not much comment on them. McDonald turns it over at times but the net benefit of him getting the ball far outweigh his turnovers. We are a poor team because we don't have a lot of natural ball magnets. Getting the ball is the best trick in footy. And from the AFL site: One percenters: Tom McDonald (139) AFL rank (second): McDonald's concentration and effort is never questioned. Apart from a flat patch in the middle of the season, he has been very good at putting constant pressure on opponents. - See more at: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-08-19/team-first-gems#sthash.iHFNZbN7.dpuf
  7. What for? I suspect your price would be lower than mine but I'd be interested what the lowest offer would be.
  8. That's because he's got the best trick in football. He get the ball. Pity so many others don't.
  9. No, it's a mathematical calculation.
  10. Lumumba goes from disappointing to disastrous. Grimes had more possessions in a half than he had in a game and Grimes possessions mean something where Lumumba's are meaningless a lot of the time. I don't know what's wrong with him because he's a better footballer than he's showing. Having said that if he can't contribute I'd have him at Casey as quick as blink. The fact that Grimes was sub on Sunday after Grimes v Lumumba's performances against NM shows either Roos has his favourites or Grimes is totally on the outer. If so, don't pick him.
  11. Adams, DeGoey, Broomhead, Crisp, Elliott, Freeman, Grundy, Kennedy, Langdon, Marsh, Maynard, Moore, Scharenberg, Willams. I reckon they have a lot to work with. Each to their own. And that doesn't address the 9 years of "rebuilds" we've had and Treloar would have every right to doubt this one. Plus Collingwood is a much better brand than MFC and playing in front of 60,000+ at the G most weeks would have it's attractions. I know if it was my son who'd I'd suggest if I was impartial.
  12. Didn't know he played for us last year. 23rd man?
  13. Have you seen him play?
  14. Thanks for the updates bj and kc.
  15. Couldn't agree less. Have done a substantial rebuild yet nobody has realized. Have a gun coach. Why wouldn't you want to join them.
  16. Can you go further please. I've no idea what you're getting at.
  17. Does anyone know the format of the B&F count? If points are awarded to every player when they play that will not do Jack any good. If it's top 6 getting votes he could well surprise. He's been outstanding in my view.
  18. So close!
  19. It's a shame you ruined your post by calling him "Tiptoes" and therefore declaring your bias. But there you go.
  20. My expectation is that he will play his role and impact games. I don't think he has. I think he should be a leader on the field showing poise, courage and good decision making. I don't think he has. If Lumumba has achieved his coaches expectation then I'd be remarkably surprised and disappointed. His performance yesterday, whilst being his worst of the season, was representative of his output for much of the season. He is 28 years old, he's played 216 games, a premiership player and in his last 5 games he's had more than 12 possessions once. Roos has said that all players must contribute offensively as well as defensively. Bail and McKenzie have a line through their names because they don't do enough offensively but over the last 5 weeks Lumumba has contributed less. He may be injured, he might be sick, he may be adjusting to Roos game plan or it might be something else. I like H, I think he's a thoughtful and intelligent bloke but at the moment we are playing one short and it must be heartbreaking for players like Brayshaw, Viney and Hogan to see a senior player at the peak of his career playing such awful footy. I suspect he's in the team because he is at least physically mature and we have a lot of kids that are finding it a long season. I really hope he finds his mojo because we need him and at the moment he is just ineffective.
  21. Ever heard of the concept of "opportunity cost". It's not trading Clark out, it's trading Lumumba in.
  22. Read some of his other posts. Wait until someone with some footy savvy comments.
