Just frustrated that v Port and Freo I got the impression that we speared lower into the forward line than in our games v Coll and Footscrag where we just bomber it king and high into the picket. CYB - you mention "half decent forward coaching", presumably an advance on our current 1/10 th decent forward coaching. As well as big bodied forwards we need an executable plan not the easily negotiable plan we have now. As an aside re JVR, Mihocek at 192 cm and 97 kg does pretty wel, 36 goals in 2022l: many are saying that JVR 193 cm 92 kg (at start of 2022, so doubtless bigger that that now) isn't big enough to do a job. Is he worth a run even at this late stage?

But he could do that just as well with a Hogan T McD combination than with BBB, who anyone must see is on his last legs, or leg even. Exactly ..... mentally deflating after all the work to get the ball up forward, then not scoring a goal. Salem should be ashamed, not amused, at laughing at his crucial miss on the ¼ time siren. What may be forgotten re fitness, stamina, training loads etc is that 2021 lasted 5 weeks longer than most of the rest of the pack, with preseason starting that much later too. Whether this can be managed better remains to be seen.

The results of first half v second half of the season could not be more contrasting 10-0 v 4-6 Happy to have be led the first half but would live to know the reason. Physical? Mental? Certainly missing some key personnel at key moments NB QB v Colonwood but there seems to be a lack of confidence and of mongrel when we have teams down. I think n each of our losses we were comfortably on top into Q3. Time will tell whether we can reset in time. But doing the same thing going forward with long bombs when we are repeatedly outmarked seems just insane. I think it was the Port game where we went lower and were rewarded - why not do it every week? Secret weapon up Goody’s sleeve? If he can pull it off he will be a true genius.

Well considered and presented post, Deespicable. On the point re fitness, unfortunately we were unable to see how Burgess would have handled the vastly different scenarios coming into season 2022. Would / could he have handled it differently? Starting with an elongated 2021 (which none of us would complain about 🏆) thus a shortened preseason maybe the competition is so tight that maintaining two seasons in a row is even more challenging than way back when it was just a matter of skill and determination. Time will tell.

Are there kiddie prizes or gold stars for opening threads? That can surely be the only reason that this has been started now.
