In fact Dunny is a spectator. Also M Jones, M Gawn - often attends Scorps games and always good to see him here.
-
Confirmed. Neither are here at Q1 huddle.
-
Grimes playing. Can't see Newton or Dunn.
-
King doing the ruck work. Spence on the bench was getting checked for ? vision issues? Just got here. Did he cop a knock?
-
Does 'Redleg' mean 'Prince' where you come from? I'm sure we can work that in there somewhere.
-
Well played Red. Must surely make you a contender for the D'land Hall Of Fame.

I understand now why you died Ernie. You were destitute after spending all your money buying all those vowels.

Demonland Proudly Sponsoring Jayden Hunt and Josh Wagner
bjDee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well done Andy. Contact with sponsors yes, but do you think we could keep them out of reach of just a few of the more debauched or incoherent D'landers? These guys are probably still young and impressionable you know. -
Well done Harmesy! He's come a long way since being a flashy and talented rookie at Casey who would catch the eye but couldn't get enough ball to be a serious contender. We haven't yet seen anything like his best aerial skills in the seniors. When his confidence is up, he will be sitting on shoulders.

I am TRAB less 7. And surprised at the relative youth of OD. Couple of years ago would have sworn OD was at least a Septuagenarian. I think the Dees form has been OD's fountain of youth!

I was blown away by Newton today. I have never been on his bandwagon, and reckon we currently have too many choices in the smallish in-and-under brigade. And he will not depose Viney or Jones or Tyson or Clarrie. But he was in EVERYTHING. At the bottom of the pack. With strength to get up and get the ball out. Cleanly. Sometimes with opponents hanging off him. Saw it with my own eyes. Honestly I didn't think a body of his size and shape could do what I saw today at VFL level. That said, it would be nothing fantastic at AFL and he would be one of many with great skills. I get where you're coming from, but no longer doubt him in a contest - again, the qualifier is 'at VFL level'.

Sorry mono, I don't know the Dogs match ups. And entry into the Dees is dependent on current players underperforming there. I'm still part way through the replay from yesterday but it's not the same as watching it at the ground. My take is that there are 2 or 3 from today who would be in team contention if there was a role for them, but they would all struggle to make an impact at the higher level. They are ANB - for several excellent weeks work in the centre, Newton - for an outstanding centre display today, and Weideman - for a good solid forward target as a 3rd or 4th tallish option (after Hogan, Watts, Pedo). I personally would hold back on Weideman for many weeks yet, just to let him develop more. But each of these ins requires someone to be dropped. And I can't see that happening unless forced through injury. Our midfield is not struggling for form and our forward line doesn't look to me like it needs another tall just yet. These guys are all deserving, but that doesn't mean they are able to waltz in to the seniors. And that's a great thing for our club at this moment.

Thanks GD. Modesty prevented me but now that you've said it - hell yeah. Wish I knew how to pick the tattslotto numbers.

Weed's 4th was a testament to his strength in a tussle and then ability to kick a grubber off the ground around the cnr while being tackled and grappled. And Spence kicks the last goal truly after the siren. Great win Scorps.
-
That was about 6 handballs leading to Dawes' second goal for this term. Most of those in the chain were senior list players. ALL were under tackling pressure. Great composure.
-
Newton shines again! Collect off a scrambled ball, had a good look for forwards, nice pass to Weed who was contested and the ball went past both untouched and rolled through for a goal. Newton is creating a few Laws of his own today.
-
One of Frosty's 'up' moves- great collect down low, short and accurate pass over the top of defenders to Casey player's advantage who ran in for a goal.
-
Great tackle Spence!
-
Yes, I like that comparison BB.

Great little passage of play. Max King pushed off an opponent and took nice overhead mark on the wing. Turned quickly and saw Weed leading to the wing/ flank hotly pursued by his opponent. King delivered a 25-30m low dart pass that Weed took down low at his shins by getting both forearms under it and taking a diving chest mark. Great pass but even getter collect. Weeds showing his skills down low as well as overhead today. Unfortunately the next pass from Weed was a turnover, but after great teamwork from King and Weed.

Might get a bit cold before arrival. Their secret is no limits on the lashings of bacon.

That qtr was a lot more scrambly than the first. Had to take a phone call (and eat aforementioned roll) so I missed a good chunk of the play details. We had the same contributors as 1st qtr but just not as dominant. The ground is getting more sloppy and ball is being held up in more ground contests. Frosty was showing his usual schizophrenic passages. Great at a contest and tackle one minute, then poor kick leading to turnover and shot at goal by Blues. He's not yet earning a call up back to the firsts on this form. Weed, as already mentioned, had a very very good qtr.

Half time catering report. The back story is it was my beautiful daughter's 21st last night. She and I organised it all together so I kept myself tidy but was able to loosen the reins a little towards the end ......and afterwards. That said, the egg and bacon roll was looked forward to as both nutrition and morning / afternoon after therapy. It did NOT disappoint one bit. Boy was it good - the best one I have ever had. Well done Casey kitchen!

Nice pack mark by Weed. Juggled it twice before final grab. I said a few weeks ago he looks like his body is not yet big enough but he continues to prove me wrong. Nice direct kick for goal. And a second goal a minute later from set shot 40-50m out. Did not deviate at all. The Weed is growing strong!

Frost was full time in defence that qtr. Actually showed some good strength and pace earlier, but was crucified by the commentators for a soccer and follow up that ended in a free the other way. The defenders are not seeing much of the ball to be fair. It's not coming their way a whole lot.
