  1. I assume being 'up at 1/2 time' means on the scoreboard only and luckily as another poster said here entirely due to Steven May saving the day. TheDees midfield was being creamed in the first half and it was a matter of time unless Goody dealt with the Dogs run and the Bont. He didn't and it was over 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter
  2. I agree with the above but think back to the GWS/Dogs final last year where Cameron unveiled the strategy to deal with Bontimpelli. Ignore history at your peril - as Goodwin did last Saturday. This is the big weakness in game day work. Its not shuffling players around, its the coaches box actually earning their pay. The Bont is far superior to any of our midfield and a main key to the Dogs. Have a plan to deal with him for God's sake. A 243 page and counting thread on Goodwin 'being the right guy' says it all IMO - and Bont gets 9 coaches votes as a result. And I consider Ratten a far superior coach to Cameron - scary for this week.
  3. On a slightly related matter, the article describeded Muir's disgraceful treatment at Vic park by the crowd and cheer squad in particular. A friend of mine is a former multiple VFL/AFL Grand Final Umpire and he tells me the story that when umpires were asked where they were appointed each round, if it was to a Collingwood game at Victoria park - they would usuallly just say to each other inside the umpiring fratenity, in short hand, that they were umpiring at the Zoo this Saturday. It wasn't meant to be funny. More of trepidation. My friend was routinely abused and spat upon each time after a game there when walking back to the rooms and up the umpires race.
  4. This is what worries me most. Ratten this week. Then finishing off against Cameron Longmuir Longmire . The bombers dont matter as it may be over by then. Real test of the coaching box coming up.
  5. I can't see the game today and just saw the stats esp midfield . Can someone please explain how on earth we are ahead?????
  6. Good call - Champion Data has Grundy 8th best ruckman at present. As you say Engish can play. I hope Goody gets Preuss right mentally in that it doesn't happen automatically. This could be a career defining game for Braydon value-wise. I hope he succeeds - he was fabulous last week and arguably had the most media coverage because of it - exluding Lynch that is.
  7. Especially that he went home and should have been far more comfortable over there personally. I hope he can get himself right. He was our only shining star there for quite a while. Wev'e moved on. 4 goals on Rance in 1 quarter against the tiges was magic.
  8. https://player.whooshkaa.com/player/playlist/show/1921?visual=true&sharing=true&episode=720925 Sorry my mistake. It was on SEN with gerard Whately on Wednesday 19/8. If this link doesn't work you can hear it on SEN's podcatss for Gerards show.
  9. Not so fast SWYL. Lets knock them out in Week 1 of the finals. An earlier poster here talked about Ox's physical trials and addisiction which he overcame to become an advoctae for the issue. Thats courage. Hardwick and Lynch? Hitting blokes in the back of the head or guts when unprepared - weak. Based on the Tige's President Peggie Lynnch's comment on the ABC this week, I suspect their Board isn't impressed.
  10. An interesting stat/indictror on Fox this week was that when Naughton Kicks over 2 goals, the Dogs win 78% of the time. @ or less they mostly lose. Am I glad we got May now.
  11. Its going to be a brave call either way but you sum up the longer term risk nicely Pollyanna. This week's about holding the nerve and resting Max . Esp given we have a game in hand.
  12. Langdon is now consisently very good because he is using his tank to burn off opponents and becomes a sole target and/or outlet player. It looks like he's doing it easy but its not his fault his opponentn can't keep with him. One of my favourite players now.
  13. Grundy is currently ranked 8th best ruckman this season on Champion data.
  14. Braydon is nearly 4 years younger than Max . Huge long term insurance policy and he will get his chances. As you say - DON'T DO IT
  15. He definitely has a good footy IQ. More so than some of our experienced players, which is what I suspect has got him this far. Spargo says his grandfather said to him - " If you're good enough , then you're tall enough"
  16. Agree. Getting carried away with the Pies win. Many top 22 players out and an excuse for a defence with Dunn getting a game. They will be fortunate to make the 8 . The Dogs game will give a more accurate line on our form.
  17. Good call. He has a job to do and he's echoing most supporters when the team is down as with Power game. He gave plenty of credit and insight last night. Lay off him.
  18. I think both Hannan and Fritsch are in danger of losing best 22 status. Fritsch causes problems in the air for opponent but gee his finishing is ordinary. Spargo is in for the time being and maybe ongoing and adds a great decisin maker up forward. And he can kick
  19. Thanks for doing this each week Q D. Essential reading with lots of insights and comedy gold combined. Much appreciated.
  20. They have a first rate defence which i think will trouble us. Not sure at all we can post a winning score.
  21. Including the ex skipper in your list after last week.
  22. I love his confidence to use his speed. He simply believes he can outrun anyone and just cruises past or away from an opponent. A pleasure to watch. With the great stan alves number too.
  23. Really. They are consistemtly bad- ask the Blues after today. But Fritsch's lazy and smart alec open goal miss is the real problem. Weed hits the pos also doesn't help. Are they interested? Time will tell.. Seriously
  24. And he was an adequate solution in 2017 and 2018 when Max was out. He also should have the engine to cover the ground and just compete.
