  1. Harsh but fair.
  2. NOW we do. Cripps was unfairly booed last night. It's not his fault a QC got him off. The AFL is to blame here. So we got through last night and now Cripps is free to play against the Pies. What a great outcome for us. Go Dees
  3. The defence mentioned 'natural justice' Well now its up to the Dees, and also our enemies the Pies, to become partners in crime by beating the Blues tomorrow and next Sunday to eliminate Carlton and Cripps from finals this year. That will be justice for the rest of us AFL supporters and for the good of the game. We beat the Blues tomorrow and next week will be the first time I shall be willing on the Pies for a win. Gil's legacy just expanded last night, - Goodes, Umpiring, Betts, Cripps.......
  4. Do you seriously reckon Jason Taylor will be outplayed on this? I don't. The one thing I'm certain of the deal will suit us. I love the idea of the Pies paying us to have an AA standard player they no longer want. Due diligence needed of course to minimise our risk of further health issues.
  5. ACtually it shows how short -term thinkers the media are and they need fresh meat daily. LJ put on hold so that story now dead. Up pops now Grundy, Dunkley this morning, Buddy, any GWS player Clarko, Degoey (still has some legs on it this story), Oliver Henry, McStay,.......... Just needed to starve the LJ issue of oxygen and it dies.
  6. Agreed. Malcolm Blight's view was that a team needed to peak at Prelim time, the trick being to get there first. He used a ' minutes to midnight ' clock as an illustration to the Crows teams under him. 1998 was a good example, did not much in finals till PF day and the rest is history. The clue was however that even though Crows finished 5th, they had the highest % by a long way of the Eight in 123%, and way ahead of any other finalsist which then showed out in later finals. with big wins. I agree with Goody that the signs are there of substantial improvement over the past mongth despite the flaws and win /loss record. I would fear the Dees in a final as an oppo supporter for the reasons above that you note about the capacity of Trac and Oliver and gang knowing what's needed on the day.
  7. ABC this morning reported its a $5000 fine and an additonal week suspension, taking it to 3 weeks. Thus missing first final if they make it. Hence the "...huge gamble..." they are taking. Silly strategy IMO
  8. Sympathy for you Action and Iv'e had non-pysical pile ons from pies supporters this week also but chose not to engage. Merely repiled with what Kane Cornes has said. "... Until they win something they haven't done anything,..." and I added the Dees just went home and polished their current Premiership medallions. Those comments sent some apoplectic. It was hilarious to watch. We'll beat them now in September if it come to tht and the Swans will open them up this weekend. Go Dees.
  9. Exactly. So frustrating last week. And the Pies had Howe and Moore to defend the incoming ball with ease. With Ed left to fix the problem coming out the other side often without help. If nothing changes this week I fear for the rest of the seson and will start to query just what's happening in the box or in planning meetings during the week. I had great trust in Yze coming in with his strategy background with Clarkson. Time will tell in the next month.
  10. Does Jeremy see how stupid HE looks now. Thanks to the above, guess what goes on the Dees whiteboard in the finals. Nice one Jeremy. 32 years old and still no Premeirship medal, and unlikely to have one with father time closing n. What a waste of a career - as Travis Boak said to TMAC in the Power game last year - another 'speaking too soon ' type.. Our Ed got one at 25 and a half.
  11. Over the past 10 years, to 2012, Both grand finalists have never had a % under 115% except once by the Tiges in 2019 The majority have been over 125% And having a % above 130 % and more does not guarantee a win in the GF either. e.g. Cats in 2019 136% Loss Hawks in 2012 155% Loss Dogs 2021 133% Loss Crows 2017 136% Loss. Prelim Finals the same magnitude rule also applies. For the last 5 years no Prelim Final team has had a % under 113% and that was the Tiges with 113.7% in 2019. Majority by a long way were all mostly above 120% and much higher. Pies will be absolute outliers to make the PF in 2022 on the above. Doesn't mean they can't but there's reasons why this is so.
  12. And 4 on QB this year. Its why I think Ed is on the money - we just need a stopper on a few - we surely know the issue by now with the Pies. A great news Grundy is out for the year. It means we have Mason Cox in for the finals, a boon to any Pies Oppo.
  13. As Kane Cornes said last night, the Pies have done nothing to celebrate this year like they do until they get it done in September. Sure we have some issues, but I see steady improvement line from the Brisbane game, and a few slip ups but the trajectory is in the right direction to get to a Prelim. Oliver and Viney won't let the Blues game slip like last Friday night.
  14. Absolutely he did, and you can never question his effort or will to win. But we felt on the night he wasn't hurting the oppositon. Lots of big kicks without specfic targetting, as opposed to many Pies inbound kicks to targets. Elliot beat us last time, and did it again on Friday.
  15. He got a cowardly tackle and pile on by 4 pies players. Didn't deserve that but he DID deserve in full his premiership medallion. Howe shows he's a mental lightweight with the above comment.
  16. Luke Beveridge broke glass yesterday and played young sam Darcy. Needed height down back. Posters on here rave about jvr. As good as darcy? Jason taylor may think so. Worth a shot on the G nect saturday imo. We've got to be at Break glass time also given forward performances
  17. I posted this in mid-May after Round 9 , and there was a well deserved pile-on for some errors and language. However, this season has now shown to be an outlier with 4 new teams making the 8, as opposed to the avergae over 30 years of 2.8. Who would have thought that the Pies , at 17 last year, were the ones to spoil that stat by even being a top 2 possibility. They got there by Round 12 so were on the rise evn then. Otherwise, 7 of the 8 teams in the 8 this season at Round 9 are now overwhelmingly likely to be Top 8 at round 23. The Dogs missing are the fascinating ones for me as last year's Grand Finalists.
  18. My key concern. too. Our best even with Tmac out beats anyone this year. But the missed goals all would have been kicked by Jamie Elliot on Friday. Not us. Salem smiling after a missed sitter on the first 1/4 siren , same with Max , was the major alarm bell for me. A few needed tweaks sure, but zero Inside 50 tackles put the defence under huge pressure. Lazy, satisified ? - time will tell but next week against the Blues is the 'Line in Sand' game for the team if they want to be considered serious this year.
  19. Me too. Best chance of getting a home prelim if we are good enough to beat the Cats. Yes, its a BIG if. But it means no Cats in the PF. If Pies finish second we must finish 3rd of rthe same reason, and hence beat the Lions last game
  20. What about "...Duck L'orange is Ed's favourite meal..." or Ed's favourite movie? ".. Duck Soup..." by the Marx bros. Ginnivan's favourite move on the field? "...Ducking, of course..."
  21. Great post. The confected outrage here is just that. Dees home game, so the Marketing dept. may well have written this script for Ed. And what a gift to the media for today and maybe a few more days. Only Ed could deliver it with such aplomb. Well done all round.
  22. I'm taking my tin of Brasso to the game tonight with a clean rag. Win, lose or draw I'm passing to Ed as he walks of the ground so he can go home tonight and give his Premeirship Medal a quick polish.
  23. As someone elae replied "minor premiers" In fact I reckon the Cats should be nominated minor premiers each year to save us all the trouble. Then they get taken down in September. Although this year, its up to the dees or the Pies to make sure that happens IMO. And maybe the swans.
  24. Why Not. After all he's sporting the same haircut as the last great Dees Decoy Full Forward. Norm Smith
  25. Good point. Solid insurance against that scenario?
