Everyone keeps crappin on Bartram's disposal (rightly so) but he plays his role within the team as good as anyone. Takes on the best, small forward each week and is rarely beaten. Heard Paul Roos talking about the success behind drafting recycled players, (Shaw, Mumford, McGlynn, etc). He said they'd recruit players who could play a specific role in the team. Bartram IMO plays his role, and as I said, is rarely beaten.

Tiger fans seem to have this obsession with proving how much better Martin is than Trengove/Scully. Easily the most insecure supporters who jump on and off the band wagon quicker than anyone.

Going back to the original topic, was the Howe interview something fairly exclusive to the Melbourne website? If it is then it's not really a big deal. Still it doesn't sound right having a 2nd gamer talk about the teams form thus far.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jamar spending more time up forward and focusing on around the ground ruck contests, purely for the fact he's coming off a knee injury and reducing his work load woudn't hurt. At least for the rest of this year anyway.
-
I think a bit of common sense is needed. My rules are: - No 'C' word - No racism Everything else, within reason, is fair game. If I know I'm sitting in a crowd with a majority of families and children then it's a differant story.

The article in The Age really gave me the impression that Stef's a very "switched on" individual. I like how he spoke about Jamar telling him he wanted them to become the best ruck duo in the comp. If Jamar comes back and returns to his best form, they'd certainly be up there as the best combo.

- Swan won't be lining up against us (thank god). - It's a bit hard to decide who mans up on who in our forward line. Either way, whoever is manned up on Shaw MUST be accountable. With his run off half-back, I rate him as the most damaging defender going around.
-
I agree with Dennis. He does not look like he's 208cm.
-
He's been compared to Robbo quite a number of times; but he seems to have a lot more tricks up his sleeve. That said, I'm not getting carried away. But the potential he has is enormous
-
Despite being massive shoes to fill, he really is beggining to fill the void in the middle after Juniors departure.
-
Agreed. Really turned back the clock tonight. At times he reads the ball as good, or if not better than anyone.
-
Amen to that!

"(Brad) Green was rolling up, getting out the back on the corridor cover ... they were getting easy possessions and a lot of clearances" Robinson really hit the nail on the head. Whilst I tend to agree with most of what he said, you shouldn't sledge another teams captain so publicly.

IN: Trengove, Scully, Howe, Gawn, Dunn OUT: Newton, Bate, Jetta, Morton, Bennel Our season is finished. Gawn is ruckman and would provide a better contest than Newton. May as well get games into him. Howe deserves a game based on form. The mentioned 'outs' have been woeful. Quite a few others who are lucky to be getting a game.

Bit rough on Jurrah... Playing in our forward would suck

Storm in the tea cup... Non issue

As far as wins and losses go, we are probably living up to expectations. But the concern is how pathetic we have been at times. I never expected performances like the 3rd quarter against Hawthorn or the 1st against West Coast.
-
Liam Picken - An absolute animal. Hits every contest harder than what anyone gives him credit for. J Brown - About as genuine as you could get. Rate him as one of, if not the best captain going around. Lance Franklin - I think I love him so much, because I hate him so much. Like Dennis Hoppers character in 'Speed'.

Amen to that. Where people actually expecting this 'rebuild' to be a steady and consistent incline towards success? We should take some sick and twisted comfort in the fact that it is the older blokes that are down on form. This rebuild will eventually reach its peak and full potential. What is their role in the team going to be when that time comes?
-
Didn't Jamar come very close to heading back to S.A a few years back? Bit off topic, but the fact Jamar isn't in the leadership group is nothing short of joke.

We aren't the only team with injured/suspended players. Norf where without a handful of players from their best 22. What's frustrating is that when an opportunity for a spot in the team arises, our players just don't seem to make the most of it. It's times like these when the depth of the playing list is both exposed and put to that test. What's the saying? 'When one door closes another one opens' This next month of footy is going to be a big opportunity for the club. St. Kilda, Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood = Big crowds and Friday nights. Hopefully we see a few of the fringe players really stand up and cement their spot in the team.
-
But once again the going gets tough and they have absolutely no influence. Ridiculous not to be frustrated by their efforts.
-
Same could be said about Norf in the first quarter. Only difference is Scott was able to turn it around. It's Bailey's responsibility to have them switched on and backing themselves at EVERY contest. Admittedly, a lot has to with what's going on between the ears, but the coaching staff must get the best out of the playing group week in, week out. We aren't seeing that at the moment.

Green has been woeful. Not just today, but all year. After kicking 50+ goals last season, why the sudden change to bring him in the middle? Kicking for goal is rubbish, so he is waste up forward anyway. Dunn once again fails. Attempts to be that menacing pain in the ass on the team, but my god; talk is cheap when ya can't get a kick!! Newton, Jetta, Bate, Wonna, Bennell, Maric and Macdonald are all passengers. Feel free to add to that list.
