I know it's (footy) is only a game, but as a Melbourne supporter this has been one helluva week, for all the wrong reasons... Big Jim has put so much time, effort, energy and emotion into the MFC. If there's one thing that will put a smile on his face at the moment, it's the players coming out on the w/e and making a serious statement. How they go about it, I really don't care, so long as the 'footy world' is left stunned. My thoughts are with Jimmy and his family.

Brad Green is such a pathetic and uninspiring captain. He has always been one of my favoright players, but as captain he is a joke.

1. Consistency 2. Certain 'leaders' to actually show some leadership. All we need is 4 more wins and we're a chance to make the 8. You wouldn't know it by the way some of the senior players are traveling at the moment. 3. A melee against either Geelong, Carlton or W.C. I don't think we'll win any of the games, but I will be happy so long as we're competitive and show a bit of fight. Make them earn the 4 points FFS!! 4. Win the last 3 games and win comfortably. I think we're all just expecting these games to be easy wins, but can you imagine whats gunna be said on this site if manage to only win, say, one of the games...? 5. Finish the season off ahead of Essendon on the ladder. 6. Aaron Davey to show a bit of form. He's been one of our best players through such a woeful period in the clubs history. Has had a terrible season and been criticised greatly. Would absolutely love to see him come back and just kick a few goals playing in a pocket.

Hardly doubt Lewis and Savage would suggest Tappy plays 'Bruise Free' footy. The guy just oozes ego, aggression and talent. I have such a man-crush on this guy!

Agreed. Apparently loyalty towards your club is now seen as thing of the past, let's hope that the notion of 'returning the favour' still exists. Maybe I'm just bitter enough at the thought of Col wanting out and probably getting a bit ahead of myself, but if Sylvia leaves now, I'll be filthy. After so many frustrating: games, seasons, injuries, setbacks and off-field incidents, it would suck to lose him when we're just beginning to see that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Not the greatest or most macho analogy, but if there is any player that 'owes' it to their club, it is Sylvia.

We will beat Hawthorn on Sunday
Juicebox replied to east gippsland demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Very interesting match-up. Hard to ignore the media's talk and speculation over Clarkson being at the dees next year. Both Dean and Al will say they think nothing of it, but you almost hope that it's a little extra incentive for Bails to chalk up a win. -
Great news to hear about him returning. Though the remainder of this year is probably a wright-off for him, hopefully we'll eventually see him build on that form in his first season that got us all so excited. Best of luck to him!

Jamar got picked up in the rookie draft by a club that already had 2 capable ruckman (Jolly and White). Unlike Morton, there was almost no expectation on him. The only thing we can take out of Jamar's situation, is that a player can take over half a decade to come good. Are we prepared to play the waiting game with a player like Morton??

Good examples (Fiora and Ray). Richmond hung on to Tambling for too long as well IMO. It's a bit like the Lindsay Thomas situation at Norf in that it's "almost not fair to play him". Cale has shown some serious potential at times, but at the moment seems to be playing with zero confidence. Needs to go back to Casey and play some good footy at that level for awhile.

Went for Moloney but I've been saying "yep, he really stood tall and did his utmost to get our boys over the line" nearly every game this year. - Hawthorn have been smashed with injuries, which is about the only thing that gives us a chance. Recovery after Darwin game is crucial. - Geelong are such a professional unit and won't drop a game at kardinia anytime soon. - The Carlton game is one we can win. Like most games unfortunately, it depends a lot on which Melbourne decide to turn up. - I'd be a whole lot more confident taking the Weagles on at the G, but "you can't always get what want". We are getting what we need and that is another chance to break this little Dockland hoodoo.
-
But what are we suggesting by him not being there?
-
I don't think you'd be doing yourself any favours by reading anything into this...
-
Agreed. Tonight's crowd was the smallest attendance out of all games at TIO. Majority of them seemed to support Port. Only thing that seemed to indicate that it was a Melbourne home game was the navy shorts!
-
Pathetic. I've been pretty disgusted with the dees at times this year, but this last quarter is painful to watch.
-
Cale Morton has been completely useless. Must be subbed off... I've always tried to avoid paying out on this bloke because he does seem to have potential; but my god has he gone backwards
-
Gotta say Howe. I think Melbourne surprised a lot of people by picking up this guy, but my god he can play.
-
Can't stand hearing/seeing his interviews. Thinks he is so wise and in touch with 'the real world'. Complete [censored].
-
Agreed. Pretty sure we've got the most MCC members as well. Feels like that notion that we're in the same boat as North and Footscray, as far as members is concerned, is slowly diminishing.

Bate seems to play well in the wet - I'm the thinking about the doggies game last year and Casey on the weekend - so the greasy conditions in Darwin might suit him. Don't know what point I'm trying to prove, I don't want him in the side...
-
Really not worried about trying to fit all 3 (Martin, Jamar and Gawn) into our future line-up. By the time Gawn reaches his peak, Jamar will most likely be in his 30's and will probably be spending a lot more time up forward. All 3 have proven to be quite versatile, playing roles up forward and in Martin's case, down back.

A couple of things I have learnt from the bye weekend
Juicebox replied to Bang Bang Bang's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wells was very good, albeit compared to the other 21 blokes in his team. The bye makes for a dull weekend of footy, and it also makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, that teams seem to struggle the week afterwards. The doggies, to their credit, did play well against us. But losing to Port would be completely unacceptable... -
This year alone, I'd say games against the Roos, Dogs and Saints where games we really should've won, or at the very least, been a hell of a lot more competitive. Seems to be a combination of 'Poor Victorian' and 'Poor Etihad' form.
-
How quickly a rumor about Sylvia struggling with contract negotiations turns into a discussion about his ability and role within the team... Sylvia, at the moment, is easily one of our best and most important players. Sure he's a bit inconsistent and apparently lacks leadership qualities (name a Melbourne player who isn't in the same boat), but he is a genuine match winner on his day.

Haha yeh I'll pay that. Difference is, if Tigers win a few games, they'll get 40k+ in the stands against a side like Freo and start talking finals!!
