I could assume it was us who didn't want Clark and give him the benefit of the doubt. But I won't.

I don't know if it's already been said, and correct me if I'm wrong (it's demonland of course you will), but are Sydney being punished by the afl for something the afl themselves are responsible for?

Worried and disgruntled about Roos' limited tenure
Juicebox replied to Curry & Beer's topic in Melbourne Demons
All along roos has been true to his word. He will hand over the reigns with the club in a very stable position. He also hinted at the suggestion that he'll stay at the club in some way or another. Don't be fooled by the seemingly failed succession plan at collingwood. Goodwin is hardly the egotistical [censored] that Buckley is. -
Are you saying that after all the brownie points he earned over the past 6 months, he spent them all on a silly post on Facebook?

Very interesting. Given the quality of the dogs midfield and their lack of key forwards, you'd think they're an ideal club for a young, big forward to make a name for himself. Very popular player at the club as well.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA
Juicebox replied to Moonshadow's topic in Melbourne Demons
He's not walking out on the club. He just can't go 12 months without drawing attention to himself. -
Completely out of the blue. Just like Dom Tyson.

Isn't that what the club needs? To be fixed? We've got enough long-term players to work with: Salem, JKH, Toumpas, Kent, Hogan, Barry... The list goes on. We'll have, or rather I'll assume we'll have, the compo pick for Frawley that'll land us a highly rated draft pick. Trading away our pick 2 last year seems to have paid off handsomely. One of the few things the club has done right.

As ridiculous and barbaric as it may seem, I'd still get a real kick out of seeing it happen. Doubt I'm alone in feeling that way. I suppose with Dawes having the greatest physical presence he'd have to be the one to get the ball rolling.

Inside 50s, hitouts, disposal efficiency, blah blah blah.... Stats are just so meaningless to me at this stage. What I want to see from from a player like Dawes, is a bit of fight and I mean that in the most literal sense possible. We know the players don't enjoy losing. We see them looking sad in the rooms after the game and telling the media how disappointed they are. But I want to see them show a bit of emotion on the field and take out their frustration on the other 22 blokes who are completely embarrassing them. Wear whatever fine or suspension that comes as a result. There's enough players currently in the VFL who can do as good a job at not winning games footy. Did Hawthorn gain any respect after they 'drew a line in the sand' that day against Essendon? I say 'yes' but I get that it's debatable. But what's not debatable is the respect they gained once they started winning games and dragged themselves off the bottom of the ladder and into a genuine powerhouse. It was physical intimidation or 'unsociable football' that contributed to that rise. Along with good players, a good game plan, etc etc. Yes, I get that physical violence sends the wrong message to the children. Somebody's always gotta be thinking of the children. But Melbourne home games aren't exactly a good time. What would've been a good time is seeing some of our senior players physically show us just how frustrated and fed up they are with getting spanked each week, and channel that frustration towards hurting the opposition. Fairly or unfairly, I'd take whatever I can get at this stage.

When talking about the new draftees, didn't Roos say something along the lines of: "You are not the saviours of this football club." You sort of show a bit of leniency towards the younger guys, so long as we're seeing patches of development and improvement along the way. Jaded nailed it; the senior players need to shoulder the baulk of responsibility after a performance like yesterday.

With Hogan in the side, my hope is that the players will look to move the ball forward with a bit more purpose and therefore resulting in more inside 50s.

Meanwhile fyfe can't win a brownlow this year... MRP is a shambles

"Jetta - tried but limited" No he smashed one of the most in form small forwards going around.

Players to target at the end of the year
Juicebox replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Tomlinson is an interesting one... Last year we recruited JKH, Tyson and Michie - all Oakleigh Chargers boys. This comes a year after Viney joined the club who had also spent time at Oakleigh. Tyson also went to Trinity Grammer. Tomlinson also played for Oakleigh and went to Trinity. Now it could just be a coincidence, but those three we recruited last year were all sort of out of left field in their own way. Hopefully there is something to it and it helps lure Tomlinson to the dees. -
Only game I watched on the weekend was on Friday night and on quite a number of occasions the umpire awarded a free kick and announced it as "illegal disposal". I thought it was either "holding the ball" or "throwing the ball". It's an area/rule of the game that needs to be stripped back and the interpretation be clearly outlined. The umpires then need to stick to that interpretation and not tweak or adjust it on a weekly basis. The fans are confused but what's even more alarming is that the players are confused.

1. Compete for every single minute of every single game. Yes it's a bit of a tired and worn out cliché, but I just really would love to see the team go hard right until the very end. For too many years we've had to sit back and watch as the club put the cue in the rack. Things like our ladder position and percentage is not irrelevant by any means, but when we talk about things like the 'culture' of the team then I think this is where it all starts. Setting out to win every single game.

Love the idea of bottom teams still having something to play for in latter end of the season. It's usually around this time of year when I begin to lose interest in a LOT of teams and games.

Definitely a lot to like about Kent. We're all aware of his ability to run and kick, but I really love his ability to hustle, harass and move the ball forward at all costs. Stints in the midfield will come as he continues to build a tank and be able to run out games. Exciting to think about the effect he and JKH will have as our small forwards.

God I just have a good feeling about this guy

Yeh we did. But imagine if they had Cooney, Griffen and Gia! Not a good thought.

So many shocking turnovers. Can't believe they didn't reward Barrys tackle on Murphy!!! What is 'holding the ball'??

Garland is absolutely killing us
