WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MAX KING
P-man replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Being inter-state, I can only judge the draftees on the little I've seen and what I've read, but a more skilled Scully, which seems to be an accurate description, I would suggest is is a pretty damn good player. I hope you're right on Tyson. I'm going to wait until he produces the goods before I start singing his praises. He didn't exactly do that at GWS, injuries not withstanding. -
Hood, I would give up mate. You'll get more luck out of a bucket of sand with a flag that reads, "What about Labor?". Regarding the China dispute, I think Bishop was correct in her reaction and statements. China's sudden annexure of the East China Sea and deciding that their permission was needed for use of the airzone was arrogant and ludicrous in equal measure, and worthy of condemnation. Plus we are always going to side with the yanks, and it won't put at risk the FTA because that is very much in China's interest. Of course, Tony going one step further and underlying the fact that our alliance is with the US and Japan, was totally unnecessary, but appears to be standard fare for a guy with the diplomatic nous of an armoured tank.

Tyson would have to show astronomical improvement to become one of the top 5 mids in the comp within the next two seasons. I've noticed those on here who claim that we snatched Tyson and Salem for pick 2 often leave out out the fact we also gave up Pick 20. Time will tell if it was the right decision, and we needed the immediate injection into the midfield that Tyson brings, but there appears little doubt about Kelly being a future champ. I can't see the Tiges dropping out of the 8. Their biggest headache was converting their chances and they are still another quality tall shy of being a top 4 side. Vickery hasn't shown enough and Riewoldt does his disappearing act too often. They are also a fair way off thinking like a champion side. When the opposition get on a roll, they crumble. It's why I think it will be another very winnable game in 2014. -
He'd have to be. The show is only worth watching for Stewie and Brian. MacFarlane should kill off Chris if he has the blood lust. .
-
Heh heh heh heh....he actually does. Perhaps we should have recruited Cornelius from Brisbane, otherwise known as "the great Cornholio! You will face the wrath of my bunghole!"

I would agree with this. It's one of the reasons I was surprised to see Jetta delisted, and not at all surprised he has been retained. The Swans style is frenetic, and Jetta is closer to that mould than the likes of Strauss and Blease. -
Aidan Riley is another new recruit.
-
Thanks mate. I would have simply "liked" your post but...ya know..

Great report Maldonboy. Interesting you say Tyson's skills are as good as anyone we have on our list, but later describe him as an awkward kick. Could you elaborate on this?

Exactly right. -
It's a bit of a moot point because I wouldn't have Campbell Brown at Melbourne in a blue fit, but even at this stage of his career, he's a much better footballer than Nicholson.
-
Never changed his spots. What a moron.

Based on the highlights packages, he'd be my favourite of the three newbies. Looks very agile for a big guy and already would be the best kick amongst our rucks, though admittedly not saying much. Could be the ideal second ruck in a future Max attack. -
Shocking news All the best to Bails and his family.

My thoughts exactly. Some are dismissive of "In Roos we trust", but it's not a bad default position to take. Even Nev's critics can't deny that he has a genuine crack, so I hope Roos can get him to his potential. -
They missed out on the main draft - PSD or rookie?

I have to admit I really like the look of Charlie Cameron and was hoping his name would be called for the MFC. I think the Crows have got themselves a serious player there. -
The players will be aiming to win every game. This is about predictions, not aspirations.
-
Nah, the arson gene skipped me. Not to say I wasn't a destructive little bugger. Wrong crowd and all that. Re Shorten, he basically seems to lack passion. He's just not a compelling character. They chose the wrong guy imo. Not going to comment on Gonski until the full details of the Coalition plan are revealed, but the writing is on the wall. If it looks like a broken election promise and smells like a broken election promise..

No idea where we'll finish, and realistically it's more about percentage this year, but I think 6 wins or thereabouts.
-
I'd also add that Jones is not the terrible media performer he's often made out to be on here. He's a hell of alot better than Moloney or Sylvia, for instance.
-
I agree to a point. I don't think it is meaningless. To Grimes' credit, he did a pretty good job fronting up to the media most weeks, trying to defend indefensible performances. Not everyone would have done as well. It's an important aspect in terms of communicating to the supporters and the football public at large. Not only is Grimes a good communicator, but there's a resilience that comes through when he speaks. He does however need to back it up more on the field, so I would say co-captains for next season, with a further review at the end of the year. Jonesy has well and truly earned the call for 2014.

I've never understood effigy burning. It just seems so...stupid.

Anyone who has played cricket from club level upward knows that sledging is part of the game. It's very simple, going back to Nash's original point. Keep it on the field. Warner looked like a dill in that press conference.
