  1. Trenners had to go. Strong call from Roosy. Still dubious on Michie being left out but Kent and Evans are good ins. Can't wait to see Viney and Tyson together in the middle. A little glimpse of hope for the future.
  2. Not much discussion so far about Roos' mooted positional changes: "a completely different team". Is he really going to throw the magnets at the whiteboard to make it seem "fresh"? I know we're crap, but placing them in unfamiliar roles could make things a hell of a lot worse. A tactic to throw off Cameron perhaps? It sounds as though Howe will be moved back. That will be..interesting. I'm not sure the lad is capable of spoiling. I suppose we haven't got much to lose, but it is still a winnable game. Just. In Roos we trust (due to a lack of alternatives).
  3. This week is probably it for me. If it is another heartless, embarrassing joke then I'm checking out and returning when they decide they want to be an AFL team. Had enough.
  4. Michie had a bad week but if anyone needs time to find their feet at this level it's him. Disappointing omission. With that team I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's not another mauling. I just hope they show a bit of guts.
  5. I'm trying to recall if Sellar actually ran backwards..
  6. Strauss, Blease and Tapscott need to tear up a VFL game or two before they can even be considered, surely. Clock is ticking for all three. Another season of nothing and that will be another three high draft picks in the bin.
  7. I'm sure the reaction of some Demonlanders to news that Dunn is a decent leader would be similar to their reaction of being told Hitler wasn't that bad of a bloke. I did note that the pre-match address was given by Jones and Dunn. Fat lot of good it did us, but it does signify that he is perhaps evolving into an unofficial leadership role.
  8. I want to get in your head Wayne.
  9. Misson has had three years with this lot. Every other team in the AFL can run hard for four quarters, and unless I am watching a different team, we seemingly can not. To call that effort as playing with heart is bulldust. Players jog. They meander. They put in token efforts. I watch a lot of footy and there is a discernible difference that you would have to be blind not to see. That isn't skill, that's effort. Even dropping chest marks can be attributed to laziness and not being switched on mentally. I saw improvements in this regard against the Saints. When the game was there to be the won, they did the fundamentals. They lifted their intensity. It was not there against the Eagles because the game was over by quarter time, and that's not good enough. You don't drag yourself off the bottom that way. Thank god for Daniel Cross. He is setting a benchmark that is showing up more than a few others.
  10. Perhaps the standard of effort you expect is lower than mine. You've been conditioned as a fan of this crap for too long. The intensity was there against St Kilda. It was not there last week. No they're not that good, but they are certainly better than that.
  11. No disrespect to Jordie (okay, maybe a little disrespect..), but this is the first time I can recall being quite relieved that he is coming back into the team, assuming that he does. He played well in the Richmond game. Very well actually. And he will leave nothing on the field. I doubt they will rush Jamar back without going via Casey. Garlo might be an outside chance. Doubtful, but would be great if he can come back.
  12. Trenners absolutely has to go. He is a liability. Can't drop Watts. As awful as he was, when he is switched on he creates opportunities, which we will need if we are to keep things respectable. We are not in a position to be dropping one of the few kicks we have in the team that can be described as elite. This is assuming he isn't moved forward, which I believe would be a big mistake. His best ever game was played on the wing. Don't toy with that.
  13. That's what baffles me. The lack of motivation. That early in the game, this early in the season. It's completely inexcusable and spitting in the face of members and supporters.
  14. I hope rpfc watches that video. Played with plenty of heart indeed.
  15. Wow... Just. Wow. You sometimes wonder how it got this bad.
  16. There's always next week, BB. If we lose to GWS by 100 points, you can take some temporary leave.
  17. Agree with your post in main, in particular with relation to sticking to the gameplan and instilling it in those who will remain after the next cull. But you are overshooting here. PLENTY of heart? Fans become frustrated when they watch our players make.a West Coast midfield that is hardly renowned for its leg speed look like jets. Our players were noticably jogging all over the field, and it's a continuation of a theme. I saw Watts break into what could be labelled a sprint roughly 3 times for the match, and he had plenty of friends, So what is it? Why is two way running such a foreign concept? It's either fitness, or the will to do it. Perhaps the fumbles and misdirected passes sap the will from them. That's not good enough, frankly. You stuff up. You get up and go again harder than the first time. So to say there was plenty of heart after a performance like that is paying them more credit than they are due. You don't lose in that fashion unless you are missing talent, confidence and urgency.
  18. Agreed. Whilst most seem to agree that the talent is thin and the list requires another turnover, there were players who severely underperformed on Sunday. The skills in the first couple of rounds have been just about as bad as I can recall, and they've proven in the past that they are better at these fundamentals. Roos biggest task is instilling confidence in them. Jones insists the group has faith in the gameplan. That's good. Now they need faith in themselves and each other. Once they have that, they will start to be a competitive team.
  19. Roos was a hell of a lot more measured than Neeld. The tone was one of surprise and determination, rather than shock and anger. The fact both alluded to a change in personnel seems to be the basis of the article. Cheap shot for mine. They are nothing alike. One of the better articles she's written about Melbourne.
  20. Would get no complaints from me.
  21. I don't think he was rattled by any means, but the blank response from the other three when he announced he was going to be putting players in completely different positions was telling. I have reservations, I'll be honest. I'm not sure it's a great move this early, but if it is to the benefit of actually hitting the scoreboard, that can only be a good thing.
  22. Half a team up there and Howe is the only forward. Says a bit about where things are at.
  23. That is a big call for Jones to make. Players not trying in Round 2 is unheard of and something you would only see at this club. Definitely has to be statements made. You give 100% or you DO NOT PLAY.
  24. Roos on 360: "We can't do the same thing again, that's the conclusion I've come to today. The players have got to feel it's new. Forget the past, I'm sick of talking about the past now. They've got to run out Sunday against the Giants feeling like this is a new team. I don't mean wholesale changes. I mean internally within the team. They play in different positions. There's a bit of same ol same ol. That's probably my biggest task this week, is to put a team on the field that's a completely different team. This could be a different team and players in completely different positions when we run out Sunday." Looks like a bit of a shake up on the cards. Hopefully this isn't the panic button being hit after two rounds.
  25. My faith in Roos has only strengthened since he's been here. His presser yesterday was exactly what I wanted to hear from a senior coach. If anyone can fix this trainwreck it's him.
