pHehe..yeah, fair point.

It is certainly frustrating that comments on this are never responded to or even acknowledged. I appreciate the time put into this site, but tallying even ten sets of votes would take 2 minutes. Just seems common sense.

Unfortunately you don't always have Pick 2 as a bargaining chip. Dom Tysons don't grow on trees. Age is a concern but I wouldn't be totally against it. The senior core was ripped out of this club and it was premature, to say the very least. We need some older heads to help steer the ship in the next couple of years. Cross was a great get. Mundy would be another.

Mote than half the voters had Pedersen in the top 3 on the ground. Three sets of votes is far too small a sample imo.

The pundits can say what they want about Kelly. He'll most likely be a star, but early signs are that we got the Tyson/Salem deal right. A rare win.
-
Stu - pretty sure he won't be sitting on his hands for the rest of his life. He has his photography for starters, where he seems to have aspirations of turning professional.

This. OP is confusing the desire to compete with the ability to compete. Many players appear to lack at least one of them, but it is more about the ability to compete.

Those BOGs say to me he either didn't watch the game or has absolutely NFI.

It's a fair comment, but those pinning all hopes of a dramatic turnaround upon the KPPs returning are setting themselves up for disappointment. As you say, there is a tonne of work to be done that has nought to do with Gawn or Dawes returning to the side.
-
Clark is all but gone, at least as a player for this club. Dawes has done little to suggest he will be much better than what we currently have. He might kick a bit straighter. Hogan hasn't played a game yet. Garland is missed with what he provides creatively, but really, their inclusion won't fix the quality of ball use overall. It won't stop the turnovers happening all over the ground. It won't solve the horrible communication problems. We might kick a couple more goals but that's the extent of it.

Blues will win convincingly.

You know things are bad when you're not sure how many successive rebuilds we're up to now. 3? 4?

At least it was an improvement on last week. It's a pity it all fell in a heap in the last quarter. The win was there for the taking. The turnovers are still killing us. That and the brain explosions once we get close to the forward arc. And the stopping and propping is driving me up the wall. Move the bloody ball on. You don't score when you give them ample opportunity to get back and set up. Not sure where a win is going to come from this year. Can almost pencil in a 0 win season.

6. Tyson 5. Howe 4. Pedersen (he is a defender, no doubt about it) 3. Dunn 2. McDonald 1. Cross

Interest Factor in football these days almost dead
P-man replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
I feel the same way. I'm so damn tired of fretting in the build up, not even about whether they will win, but whether they will try. Another insipid effort and I really think I'll be done until they are going to do the basics to compete. -
I suspect there are a few in this thread who are letting their frustration at the club's predicament affect their judgement. I've probably been guilty of it myself. I am actually looking forward to next week. Knowing what is happening in the future will make it all a bit easier to process. One thing I don't believe is that Mitch has a sinister bone in his body. He was and is well intentioned in everything he has done since an offer was made to him to come to Melbourne. I really hope he doesn't retire because I think he will come to regret it, but ultimately he has to do what is best for his health. He has a daughter who is relying on him to do so.

Still without Tex who seems to be a bit of a talisman for them, but it doesn't help when Danger is playing like he has one eye on the exit.

Let the excuses begin as to why the Saints are able to produce efforts like this. Experienced midfielders. They have Reiwoldt. Blah blah blah. They want it more. Our players should be ashamed watching this.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS
P-man replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Was wrapped when we got him and even moreso after listening to that interview. The determination in his voice is the same determination you hear in Jones, only he has the experience of regularly winning games to know that it can be done. You rebuild a broken club with people like Daniel Cross. Incidentally, to say that Jonesy is "going through the paces" for the past 12 months has to be one of the crazier things I've read on here. Unless it is somehow possible to lackadaisically carry an entire team on your shoulders. -
At least we will know one way or the other and can plan accordingly. Heartbreaker if he's gone. Loved watching him in the red and blue.

DEVIL OF A TIME - Match Preview and Team Selection
P-man replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Byrnes has kicked 40% of our goals. He was never being dropped.
