  1. I didnt get it either why do we need to help Adelaide and Sydney out to strength their lists when we could deal directly with Collingwood, The only thing I could think of his Collingwood didnt want pick 13 for Dawes, they would prefer a ready made replacement. I am with you Born to Run, I didnt like it either when I heard it, I think 13 is paying well over for Dawes.
  2. Heard this morning; Adelaide - Pick 13 Sydney - tippett Pies - Sam Reid Demons - Dawes Came through a friend who was talking to Sam Kekovich, according to him we are pushing extremely hard for Dawes
  3. With the ideal outcome this morning with Viney I am sure we will be on trading at least one of 3,4 or 13. Assuming Wellingham goes to WC and the super trade is off the table who would you prefer for pick 13 - Dawes or Caddy. Personally I choose Dawes having the 2 key forwards is critical towards our structure and I believe he will be better than this year as long as he is played as a forward not a ruck/forward like the scum attempted to do.
  4. Im sure GC or GWS dont run their recruiting based on a Jay Clark article in the HS. Best part of this article seems he has the right attitude towards preparation which reminds me of Jonesy who is thriving under Neeld. Shows that Viney slots in nicely with the type fo game plan the coach is implementing, tough, hard and uncompromising.
  5. What about pick 13 + Stef Martin & Petterd for Toy & Caddy Gives them a geniune ruckman (fraser retired) and a medium size forward as I dont reckon they will be after mids as they have O'Meara coming in
  6. No leave it as it, give the 2 captains time to grow into the role as I felt both of them improved as the year went on, if you watched Trengove speak at the Foundation Dinner he has improved out of sight compared to the start of the season and I reckon his football improved as the year went on. Time to show some sort of stability with all the trade/draft and delistings going on. Also don't want to weigh Jones down with it either, he made giant leaps forward this year and if he shows that level of improvement again next year I believe he could become an elite on baller!
  7. NOOOOOOO been bagging him for years to my bombers mates! They are going to have a field day, I thought we wanted tough and hard players, the way this blokes acts for frees he should be on broadway not on the MCG!
  8. Beamer and Jamar are off to Vegas for Jamar's bucks party!
  9. im with you on Bail Rolly, Seems his endurance running saves him, needs some serious work on his decision making and skills!
  10. A friend of mine caught up with a friend of theirs that works within the club. He believes the club will turn over up to 15 players depending on trades etc. Apparently Neeld hasnt been overly impressed with a large part of the list and wants to make massive changes. The plan is to replace them with draft picks and to find the top half dozen SANFL/WAFL & VFL players to replace them. I know people criticise on here when you use the friend of a friend line however I have been told things in the past through this guy and have turned out to be corrrect so take it as you like, and before you ask not sure of the guys name, not a known person but involved in the football department. I'm happy for it to happen we all have our favorite players however to really only beat one team for the year (i dont count GWS, GC) it is time for big changes!
  11. I would love for Melbourne to approach Ratten to come back as the midfield coach for next year if this is true, which it will be. From all reports when he was at Melbourne the midfield group at the time really rated him as the midfield coach. He can simply replace Brian Royal, not sure on his contract status though?
  12. With many in a hurry to judge hurley v watts following the article in the HS a week back i wonder how many journos will come out and criticise Hurley on his game today. If Watts was out there the media would of jumped all over him for having a quiet day. Hurley looked out of sorts all day but nothing will be mentioned about it. I write this as i am sick of the criticism Watto cops all the time whilst he learns and develops, and people don't want to be patient. Well today Hurley showed big blokes take time to develop the difference is he wont cope the criticism that Watts will for quiet days on the park. I will watch with interest to see if he copes any mention over the coming days!
  13. I was there and i was actually pleased with the size Watts is starting to put on, i think you can compare him now to how Cook looks in size and you can see how much he has started to fill out since his first pre season. i think you will start to see more contested marks from him in the new season. On a side topic i went to the party last night and both practice matches at Casey before the start of 2010 season against the eagles and bulldogs and found now on all 3 occasions the lack of merchandise they had for sale. at the practice matches i forgot my hat and went to our merchandise stall to buy a new one 20 minutes before the game had started and they had sold out. Last night got there at 4.30 and they had sold out of flags. i look at these as a great opportunity for the club to sell merchandise so i would of thought they would make sure they have plenty of stock on hand. Excess stock can always be taken back to the demon store at the mcg. Other than that great event last night having free snags and showbags went down a treat, especially my little fella loved the new matchbox car in the showbag!
  14. Here you go, Sounds to me the club was just doing there due diligence on getting feedback from the players to help the club continue to improve. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/dees-determined-to-get-better-20100825-13sbf.html
  15. Although Watts didnt have the greatest game yesterday they tried to play him as a KPF which he is just not ready for yet i still think each week we are certainly seeing improvement. When you think back to his first couple of games he was pushed off the ball without much resistance but even against the hawks yesterday there was a couple of passages of play where he really held his ground in the contest and in some cases bumped his opponent out the way. As he continues to get stronger and has faith in his own strength to control the play it is going to be exciting watch the progression next year with another preseason and 5-10kg on his frame.
  16. I feel we still have a shortage in the backline in skill. Bartram couldn,t hit the side of a barn, although he has improved this year, Rivers is a shocking kick and Garlands kicking against the hawks yesterday wasnt much better. Even in parts of the year this year Grimes is kicking (or decision making) went backwards from last year in my opinion. I still think we should leave him across half back though but we need either one of the others to show vast improvement or look for someone to slot in at the expensive of Bartram to help in that area. I think inner demon was spot on with the delistings! Go Demons.
  17. Was just reading the comments made by Kelvin Moore on the AFL website, I actually found them a bit disrespectful to us. Basically said they were running at 60% and it was more their turnovers rather than our good play as to why we won the game. I felt we moved the ball alot better than they did and put them under pressure to cause the turnovers! I think he needs to look at the game again! http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/99949/default.aspx
  18. i think it would especially with recover after the previous round, i did read somewhere the club thought it was a huge advantage being across the road from the 'G' because recovery eg. ice baths etc. could begin immediately after a game.
  19. I know it has been well publicised in recent weeks about the poor starts we have in matches but i think it was time either the leadership group or coaching staff took a bit of responsibility. I was lucky enough to get into the rooms before the Carlton game. During the warm up there was alot of laughing and joking around which to me came across as not switched on. Whilst i know they are there a couple of hours before the game and you dont want them to have played the game in their heads before they walk out on the ground but this was 20-25 minutes before the bounce. On the day i dismissed it but watching the following week just before the bounce when they were doing a bit of kicking practice i was seeing the same thing again. When you watch Geelong/Stkilda just before a game and particularly when they are walking out on the ground there is nothing but focus in their eyes and on their faces. i just question if we have that same focus in our team. It is going to be very hard for us to win games if we are continually coming from behind, who is responsible for bringing the team together before the game and getting everyone focused in the same direction? I am extremely dissappointed from Sunday with our start particularly as it was talked up in the papers before the game, i expected to see them come out breathing fire but there was nothing. We need to get our attitude right before we run onto the ground so we are focused on the first contest and the next contest.
  20. Exciting news to nearly have him back, you would think if he is flying could play Casey next weekend whilst the bye round is on then bring him in the week after! We really need that extra goal kicking target
  21. Agree that we need to pull bigger crowds to not play down there and I am not complaining that we do but my point is for the draw to be truly equal the big four need to play Geelong at some point down at Geelong. Geelong playing those clubs at the MCG as a home game effectively gives them another home game or at worst a neutral game.
  22. My issue is nothing to do with the Darwin game but you never see Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton, Hawthorn have to go and play at Skilled Stadium, I know Geelong like playing those games in Melbourne for the gate receipts but they choose Skilled Stadium to be their home ground and it is a massive advantage for them that none of the 4 teams above have to deal with. Geelong should have to rotate who they play their home games at the MCG/Etihad against to make the draw truly fair. When you look at their winning streak down there would Carlton beat them down there like they did earlier in the year at the MCG if that game was a Geelong home game (it wasnt) or in Round 1 the Geelong home game against Essendon at the MCG would of Essendon got as close as they did to knocking them off?
  23. I think that is why the club commented they will be speaking to the AFL about playing the Darwin game next year the week before the bye round so we get 2 weeks to recover before the next game.
  24. Great Post, Really starting to sense the club has turned the corner and are beginning to make the right decisions to turn us into a force once more. Just need a few more free to air games which we will earn over the next couple of seasons to attract some new supporters to the club! Go Demons
  25. A friend of mine who is married to Beamer's cousin spoke to him last night and Beamer told him they will be looking at challenging the decision, should be announced at some stage today.
