Hawks by 18 points - Freo won't be able to lock them down all day and they'll have the momentum for some period(s). They'll need to kick goals though - which I think they will - if they continue to miss from set shots like they have been then they'll lose.
I hope Freo win though - Kennett, Dermott, Dipper, Buckenara, Newbold etc - they're easy to hate.
Lyon is more hate-able than all those combined. Hope the Hawks smash them.

I think if we put in the same effort to attract Pedro to retain Riv then we may have done better. Neeld was all to happy with clearing out who he saw as dead wood.
Anyways, apologies about derailing a thread here, back to the topic.
- To fat for a player you would think was trying to make it and on his last legs
- To slow to play a flanker role
- To short to play as a ruckman
- Not skilled enough to play as a forward
- Puts on a crappy fake tough guy facade that is only bettered (is that a word??) by Dunn
- Has a weird mop of a hair do
I believe the correct word is embiggened.
Definitely not tough.
Got to give him credit for this though:

There'll be a lot who jump on here and say how crap he was, but he really was brought in as a depth player to cover injuries. For mine he did exactly what we needed him too, yes he's no world beater and unless Roos does something special with him, he shouldn't be in our best 22, but you do need blokes like this on the list in case someone goes down.
Plus he's pretty low paid and didn't cost us anything (considering it seems Gysberts is going to be delisted).
Yes he was/is/always will be crap, and we already had depth players for his position(s).

Which of the Hawks kids played well in the middle for their recent VFL premiership?
Hallahan probs, if he's out of contract, get him.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day........
It's about time we learnt how to fish!
We haven't had a fishing rod for the best part of a decade.

I think GWS Should come into consideration as well, they're the only team below us, but they have as much young talent or more than any AFL list has ever seen, they're going to be a gun side unless something goes awfully pear shaped, to give them yet another key forward that they in all honesty don't need is abit strange
Pick 1 gets us back up and makes everyone more money as soon as next year, but for GWS it probably doesn't make any difference at all to where they're going.
Stkilda imo will be in a worse position than we were/ are in a couple of years, and because they aren't named Melbourne and have the same marketing potential as us I wouldn't be surprised if we see another situation where the AFL is looking at moving a Club or Merging clubs.
Agree with this, and they'd better not bother applying for a PP until they've been as bad as we have for as long as we have.

Please, TX, don't bring this up.....I feel sick.
Sorry, I felt sick too when his name was called out on the radio, draft day 2010.
-
Was he pick 12 or 11?
12, and a round or 2 before predicted. Thanks again Barry.

He walked out on us before whilst still contracted IIRC. If Roos wants him, I do too though.
-
He'd likely want to go home to WA. Not sure we need more defenders anyway, if that's where he plays.
-
Funny enough it looks like we will come out winners from that trade lol
No, we're still stuck with Pedo on his 3 year deal.

If they trade DalSanto or Montagna and Riewoldt gets injured, they are absolutely rooted. They'd better not ask for a PP though.

also, wines is nothing like rich or palmer in terms of stature - he's actually tall, more like a josh kennedy, or dustin martin in terms of height, around 188-190.
jimmy is a 'small' midfielder by comparison, around the 178-180cm mark.
Jimmy's 183, so more medium than small.

He's the guy that refused to give up his jumper number when Plugger came out of retirement? I like it.

Does anyone feel Jetta could be moulded in to that defensive fwd type player. his defensive effort is very good. doesnt get much footy but does he have potential?
No but I feel he could (and should) be delisted.

Tom Couch would go down as the most pointless rookie pick in MFC history.
Exactly, anyone could see he wasn't AFL standard, so why didn't we rookie a player with at least 1 elite trait and work on the others.

I agree, just ditch the whole idea, get it off the books so to speak. If an extraordinary situation happens down the track then revisit it without all the baggage attached.
We are the extraordinary situation.

MFC must create a winning culture. Will another Priority Pick assist with this or will it simply continue the cycle of our playing list & club relying on others for success?
Don't know but free agency means that there is a vicious cycle where weak teams like us will get weaker, with any decent FA's wanting out. We need to be helped toward competitiveness at least to break the cycle.
-
The other clubs must be prepared that if the MFC doesn't get a priority pick this year it basically mean the priority pick is dead. It's funny to listen to members of the media whose teams have greatly benefited from the priority picks in the past now come out dead against us getting one. Carlton for example has 3 priority no 1 picks, they shouldn't have been in the draft for 2 of those years due to cheating but found a loop hole that allowed them to get Gibbs and Murphey followed up with the tank year to get Kruzer. Of the top 8 teams I think 5 have benefited from priority picks.
We have had 7 bad years and received 2 priority picks. The media are making it out that we have a heap of proirity picks, the other early picks we have had are due to trading, losing a No1 pick to an expansion club and our National draft picks.
Exactly. Hawthorn and Collingwood have both won flags directly through priority picks (and tanking).
-
Also confirmed by Ross Campbell on 3AW (Rumour File) this morning that we would not be getting a priority pick! He seemed pretty adamant.
Well they had better scrap them permanently then.

He's been injured most of the time.
