Nicholson, Blease, Evans. It seems once again it's 6 months since we've played a real game and we still can't come up with any better depth ready to play than these 3. Oh well.

What's worse is that the likes of Matt Jones are in our starting 22.

Finishing 3rd and 4th in a team that could not beat time with a stick and won two games and lost numerous by 15+ goals is hardly a big wrap.

They would not be on the list of any other team in the competition.

Terlich definitely would be on another list, Matt Jones wouldn't though, and probably shouldn't even be on ours.

The indication as to whether we're improving consistently as a team is when the following happens.

No more than two of the above will ever be in the best 22. Most will either be playing at Casey or not on the list at all.

The fact that these players are continuing to get games is having a direct impact on game day. I'm not going to bang on about the past.

We know why they're still getting games. We have nobody else.

But significant improvement as a side won't come until we add greater talent to the list and when these players are no longer regulars in our side. They are absolutely not AFL standard players and they're extremely limited in their abilities.

I still think we'll improve this year thanks to the injection of mids we've had plus Paul Roos and the new coaches. However, the real improvement will come hopefully over the next two or three years with what will be 'hopefully' some more smart trading and good pickups

in future drafts. I believe we've got the recruiting department right now. Roos understands the importance of developing and nurturing first year players. Guys like Salem, who off the back of a limited pre-season isn't getting a gig yet. Something we would not have seen in years gone by with a number 9 draft pick.

I'm sure others share this view.

Fitzy's a bit stiff to be on that list, totally agree on the others.

Then Todd Viney took over in 2012 and suddenly we started drafting like a professional club

Jimmy Toumpas, Jack Viney, Jesse Hogan, Dean Kent, Dom Barry, Matt Jones, Dean Terlich

Might go down as the draft that saved our club and set up future success.

Viney did a great job there, probably wouldn't put Barry and M Jones with the others though, they most likely won't be around in a couple of years.

Dylan Shiel, interviewed on SEN this morning after his great game, was asked who the biggest tightarse at GWS was: Tom Scully, no surprises there!

Agreed, can't stand the flogs. Will gladly watch any other team in the league suffer miserably without direction for years, just as we have been the laughing stock of other teams for the best part of 5 years.

It'll be great to tell them to get stuffed when they go grovelling for a priority pick.

P.S.....4th in the best and fairest......And it was a practice match in FEBRUARY.....

We went after mids mids and mids during the off season, so that VFL standard players like M Jones aren't needed for anything other than depth.

Have not read any thing prior. Been watching the game and enjoying the positive intent but boiling with frustration. Dan Nicholson, Rohan Bail and Matt Jones ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Proven. Play youngsters instead.

Michie and Tyson excellent particularly considering how few games they have played and how good is Hogan. Go for the future.
