  1. I'm always the first one here to cite stats, but I really question that stat on Harmes or what it's really saying. There were a few of them that got to where they were headed, so count as effective disposals, but they were hardly lace-out on the chest, and the receiver really had to work.
  2. Hard to know how Jack W is seen off-field, AFL leaders have a tendency to be hard-nosed pricks, and not sure that's our Jack. On the other hand, if on-field leadership is standing up under pressure, making a difference, and leading by example, then Jack showed that today.
  3. He's also almost permanently at the coalface. Butchering the ball when you're under the cosh is a bit different to Harmes' numerous efforts where he was in the open, but still couldn't deliver a 30m pass and have it reach its intended destination.
  4. Mitchie for Harmes. Both have been playing off half-back. Someone for Hogan if injured: Weideman (long bow there ...), if not, Pederson or, shudder, Dunn. Kennedy or Oliver for mystery injury of the week.
  5. I always look for positives after a loss, but am struggling to find too many after this win.
  6. Almost unwatchable. I don't even know how a coach can respond to what's going on, just poor decision after poor decision. Kent's kick backwards and right across the ground to someone who was no closer to goal than he was ... some of this just beggar's belief. Harmes has 20 possessions, but hardly a kick has reached its target. etc. etc. We may win, but not going to take much satisfaction from today, whatever happens.
  7. Vandenburg. Missed the option up forward, then missed a simple handball. Story of the day so far.
  8. Disposal. Really poor. Would love to see the "Marks from opposition kicks" stat. Kicking ourselves out of it.
  9. I don't know that they do (though how would I know!) ... we didn't have anything like the depth we have this year, and Brayshaw was always ahead of anyone who could come in. He was also probably ahead of Oliver on fitness. Looking forward to seeing him tomorrow.
  10. Needs another thread, but selling Page very, very short. Was an amazing soloist, writer and arranger, and there's a real depth to his work across a variety of styles and techniques. For his example, his acoustic work, his work with alternative tunings etc. etc. I was never a real fan when I was younger, but as I've got older and started to look past the riffs, and have become a convert. Also, feel like you're selling Clapton short. Yeah, primarily a blues guitarist, but his touch, imagination and the beauty of his lines and his understatement surpass limitations of style, and how can you ignore songs like Layla, White Room or of course, While My Guitar? Envy you seeing them! I've seen Page/Zeppelin live, back in the day, and Chuck Berry tried to chat up my wife (before she was my wife) when he met her backstage: does that count?
  11. VDB was out injured. No longer injured. Comes back in. Have I missed something?
  12. Er ... one's a forward and one's a back.
  13. 2018. I'd be surprised if one year is enough to get the experience we need.
  14. Seems that it's just too complicated for a number on here, given that it entails experiencing more than one emotion at the same time.
  15. I just don't know how you get through the day, OD, you're so unremittingly negative. Black, black, black. Vince is 3 years younger than, for example, Sam Mitchell. As for Jones, he's only 28.
  16. Just not when it comes to footy? You seem unable to comprehend/acknowledge that anyone could be simultaneously gutted by the loss and still find positives in the performance. No-one's happy that we lost - (as you claimed).
  17. Don't know that Oliver will play again this year, he doesn't have the fitness for AFL yet, and his game is still too one-dimensional. It's a very fine dimension of course, but has been mentioned a couple of times that they're trying to develop him both defensively and outside. No change unless there's an injury, if so, like for like.
  18. Just wondering, has anyone done the calculations on which Melb. players will be eligible for Casey finals?
  19. Mods? Can't this at least be merged with one of the other "The McDonalds are crap" threads that Picket started?
  20. Your straw man response is about as ridiculous as your first post. No surprise, you're one of those "supporters" who only remembers the mistakes, and who only sees players in terms of either all black or all white.
  21. Get over yourself. T Mac wasn't Robinson Crusoe, plenty of players turned it over today, on both sides, and all over the ground.
  22. Yep. Pathetic. People here go on about how p#ssweak Richmond supporters are ...
  23. I think we can keep it up, but their forward line has too much firepower, too much power, and too much experience. On days like today we miss Frawley! Still, great to see them having a dig.
  24. No you're not alone, they're obviously watching a different match. Hard to ask for much more under the (weather) conditions against a top side at home. Effort and intent is there, +12 on contested possessions.
