You know what....if we go backwards it won't be because we have poor facilities, it won't be because we haven't done the required standard of training and education with our players. It won't be because we have too many stick thin project players. I reckon if we are no good this year I will think at least we are now on a level playing field for the list and the way we prepare ourselves. At least we have given ourselves every chance to improve by setting the right culture at the club. We should be careful with expectations but its honestly very difficult to see how we could go backwards compared to where we have been over the last 10 years. You would think logically we just simply have to progress forward by the way we are going about it. Interestingly does going backwards mean less than 3 wins as a measure? As if that's the case I would think we will do better than that, how much better than that I'm not sure, but if you prepare and do all the right things then you have done all you can with what you have.

No charges laid, no decision and no penalties ahead of draft
Footynut replied to markc's topic in Melbourne Demons
I just don't get a few things with this. If you are a so called investigator brought in as a heavy for the AFL surely you would want to ensure the authencity of your investigation is not compromised. Therefore generally I would have thought anyone you interview would need to be explained that information exchanged in interviews is confidential. Point is people are muddying the transparency of the investigation by feeding bits to Caro. The thing to also take into account is therefore unless its the AFL or the investigators leaking to Caro we must assume its some of the ex club people who are leaking and therefore she is running what is effectively a side by side investigation without full access to all the facts. In short she is drawing conclusions from limited facts. I also would have thought if the AFL and investigators had integrity front of mind they would be revisiting this fact with interviewees after interviewing. I think there should be an investigation done on how Caro is getting her info as it totally compromises outcomes of the case. Not to mention what Caro herself has revealed as the coercion the get the answers they want coming from investigators themselves. If I was just employed by the afl as a heavy investigator and this is my first case that will ensure I stake a reputation, I too would be going hard to prove my worth. It is my opinion that there are many factors about the nature of the 'investgation' that don't seem to comply with standard procedure reading between the lines. -
I think given he is leaving football totally it's not an affront.

THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo
Footynut replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I love it when she visabily shifts uncomfortably in her seat when he starts to bring it up. She knows whats coming. Then she tries to defend and then shift the arguement onto something else. Then Hutchy keeps her on topic and then she attempts to squirm out of it. Absolute gold! Seeing this just made my day a better one! -
Caroline Wilson's descent into gutter journalism
Footynut replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
I honestly don't know the answer to that. But my mind went to perhaps a few former club coaches and players have gone into a lot of detail added to what we have already heard. -

Does the rumour state what the penalty will be? -

Take this for what it is worth. Today I spoke to someone who is close to Caroline Wilson. Apparently she has gone VERY lightly on the club comparative to what she knows..... I don't know what else she knows but for all our sakes can someone please make this end. We are supporters of a club that is absolutely the worst and the laughing stock constantly of the comp. What have we done to deserve this? -
Difference with Neeld is he is trying to lift a young list to be competitive. Voss was trying to lift an old list to a premiership. The situation isn't even comparable except there is some trading of older players. Interestingly when Voss did take that tack most commentators talked it up as being a typical courageous Voss type move that had a big chance of working. It's funny now it didn't work people use it as an example of 'I told you so'. I bet Dwayne and Denham talked Vossy and his recruiting right up lol. This is actually good. I would rather they stick some boots in now than get carried away saying its going to work. The team players and coaches included will know they need to work hard to earn respect rather than just expecting it all to happen. Lets see these dees work hard and claw back respect inch by inch united as a team that has experience and capability to have an impact on the comp.

I hate rumours so I gave you a fact would you like me to now announce the source? Believe what you like you will come to your own conclusions despite the facts. This is hardly a place to post evidence is it.
-
I hate rumours but I do know for fact Jordan has NOT bought in and taken feedback on board. There are hundreds of talented kids each year who miss out - he has been given an opportunity. If he stays he has alot to prove. If he goes he has bought this on himself.

I heard from someone at the club today that they were targeting Jesse Hogan from 6 months ago and were wrapt to see GwS wanting to accept their trade. Then they couldn't believe they got another crack at Dawes after they hard tried and really wanted him last year. They were wrapt Filth mucked him around and let him fall in our laps. This has all been a very well planned attack to close the gaps on our list!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES
Footynut replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
An assumption maybe but it is based on history as per the last 10 years of players pick at 20 added with our own sub par drafting early. Yes it is of value but only if you draft right and it is a bit of lotto isn't it? -
How did Clarke, Grimes go this year? Don't reckon it was backwards... Baileys plan was all based on youth which you can never count on. At least we are recruiting in known quantities....Neeld will have done everything possible to give us a chance to be competitive from a base we all acknowledge was lowest of low... What more do you want from a guy in his first year at a club that was a basket case?

I like that BF and pies supporters all are torching us. How long has it been since we got flamed because we are envied? That is what this is. People like the MFC being down, they are used to that and kicking us. Now we are getting good players and its easy to say we are paying overs but I think they do know we now are arming ourselves to not be the easy points next season. They don't like it. Big club supporters don't like smaller clubs that winning anything they aren't supposed to. Go dees!!!

Hey Tona the off season is doing you wonders! A positive post great to see! Glad you can see the vision. Go dees!

Evans and Nicho have iron clad agreements to be upgraded to the senior list this year. Signed prior to Neeld arriving at the club. -

Given the above Olisik, what have we actually lost? Pure probability suggests unless we won tattslotto by jagging a Fyfe we will come out well in front on this. Further to this our record drafting anyone let alone tall forwards (Mark Bradley, Lucas Cook), first rounders (thank god we got this Scully compo!) is really average to poor. So I'm really struggling to see the downside. I'm in the camp of a bird in the hand is worth 2 in that bush! -

I don't look for every player to win games off their own boot. I want team players who work hard together to get wins for our club. I think Dawes brings this in spades. Lets face it Beamer spat it last year as he was no longer a king pin. We won't have this from Dawes. -
Not if they have recruited like BP...
-
Agree I think next year these signings make us an even more attractive for prospective players who want to be on an up and coming list....
-
If we have no good young talent reaching maturity in 4 yrs that's BP, DB etc fault not MN...

Do you know what RB, faith and belief are things that take courage. I agree with you totally. There are plenty on here who take an easy option by picking holes in everything from afar because they base everything on facts...Mark Neeld is giving this club and the players belief and this will take us along way. Never before have players wanted to join our club, Judd, Burgoyne, Matera, Ball to name a few....why has this changed? Because Mark is getting it right and players he talks to can see that. Dawes, Byrnes come from great clubs with high standards - they wouldn't come to us if the club coach didn't show them a vision that has never before been part of our club. We have the right coach and he is surrounding himself with the right team on and off the field. -

I'm convinced you are wrong. Who else are we going to buy? Buddy? Honestly....enlighten us all on the alternatives given your are so close to the club and players I'm sure you know what we should have done with the rest of our cap and picks... -

Yea and you most likely same time last year said Clarke was an unproven hack up forward and we paid overs.....easy to pick holes from afar isn't it. Why don't we just see how this unfolds and at the very least we have a player who is an automatic walk in to our team. This gives us someone who even when playing poorly has a higher work rate than some of our mid field...it's the most positive off season we have had in years. People need to give their tortured souls a rest! Why waste time being cynical...we have done that all season in fact many seasons! Sit back and enjoy the fact we aren't losing games this time of year...
