  1. http://membership.melbournefc.com.au/packages/view/202/Digital-Armchair-Membership Do you know if that deal gives you access online to MFC games ONLY (it doesn't say) I'm assuming it must be MFC only because the AFL pass is about $150
  2. Yeah there can't have been a time since then that we would have been top 4, as we have lost all our first rounds and generally continued to lose from there Few records have been smashed I'm sure it's been posted elsewhere, I have missed most of the chatter, but last year we averaged 61 points for, so yesterday was 9 goals above our 2014 average score. Staggering.
  3. I am actually 100% vindicated on the golden ticket front. You've missed the point. My whole gripe is that players are given a free pass because their pre-season is interrupted. Howe and Watts proved exactly why that attitude is rubbish. Had they played poorly you would be reading the comments of many posters letting them off the hook. If you're fit and selected you should not be given excuses.
  4. So.. looks like we will finish 3rd or 4th on the ladder. Who's got the stat for when the last time that happened was? Of course we all had a great time yesterday and some glory is much deserved. There was a heap to be positive about. BUT it was only one game of football. We have seen this before and it proved to be a false dawn I need to see it every single week, starting with GWS, who we should absolutely be favourites now to beat (we are paying 2.85 FFS) On a side note, Tommy Boy was rated in fantasy points as the 3rd worst player on the ground today. LOL.
  5. Dawes absolutely has to come in
  6. He was hardly dominant, with 9 touches, several of which were ineffective - but did some awesome things, particularly that mark around our 50, and a couple of those flattening/blanketing tackles that won frees, wow BUT he was obviously ready both physically and mentally so I was wrong about that. The call at selection was correct as it wasn't a gift selection to satiate the fans. Theoretically, MJones or the like would have had more touches but probably had less influence on the game due to their overall lack of quality. I can't remember the last time one of our debutants had such a physical presence, he is in no way a kid. Funny thing is that I thought Petracca looked even more solid in this regard over preseason training - so I guess in exactly one year's time we can expect a similar start from him. I was also wrong about my expectation that we would come out and fluff all our kicks, spill marks, drop our heads for long periods and play without heart, to go down by about 5 goals It was a different side for some glorious reason, and I was gloriously wrong.
  7. agreed in general, but again, my main priority is doing everything we possibly can to get the 4 premiership points tomorrow. Of course I hope like hell that Brayshaw is BOG tomorrow and we knock those pricks off, for our first round 1 win in ten years. BUT, all logic suggests that scenario is unlikely, and that Grimes or MJones would be more advantageous to the cause and again, i support the backing of a young player. But at this moment, his CV says 'amongst the best in a couple of VFL practice games' and that is it
  8. that's a joke post isn't it? you went through the thread and multi-quoted me. I do the exact same thing and you call it 'not having a grip'. Wow. Keep liking stuies posts, that's the level you're at, a level that deserves little respect
  9. Yes. Why else would you drop a player to bring in another, if the ultimate goal was not to win the game of footy this week? I can only infer that you are suggesting that bringing the likes of Brayshaw in is building our future, and that is the crux of the argument - we need to WIN games and we need to win them NOW. We are not in a position to be reducing the % of a win , in order to get games into kids.. in case you hadn't noticed, we have been shizen for 8 years, with our very existence in doubt, with zero respect from the community, and members fleeing the sinking ship like wet rats. Seriously, what is your criteria for selecting a player? For me, for the thousandth time, it is whether that player is more likely to get us a win than his predecessor. That is the only thing that matters
  10. just reiterating my initial position: "brayshaw needs to have a bigger impact than the player he is replacing for the selection to be justified" what's your take?
  11. why? He is still very young and his his game is still riddled with holes, which is completely natural and acceptable. Why should we blindly back the position of a kid in the side when , at this point in time, a better player should be in the position to help us win the game? Again, similar to Brayshaw, I have high hopes for his future, and will scream my lungs out for him, but if there is player in the emergencies that is likely to deliver more for this weeks game of football he should be in there instead. simple. Remember these are 1st/2nd/3rd year players, their time to be prime players is several years away, we don't need to be placing this burden on them yet
  12. I've conceded that, taking positions/roles into account, it's most likely matt jones that has been outsted at the expense of Brayshaw. Lumumba, Howe and Salem have taken the role that Grimes used to occupy.
  13. OK I can do the multiquote thing too. I said since day dot that "brayshaw needs to have a bigger impact than the player he is replacing for the selection to be justified" in what way have I wavered?
  14. does it? we are not even talking about casey form, we are talking about casey practice match form which is an extra rung down besides, all you know is that a few here, based on nothing, said he 'has dominated every game' while most that actually saw the games disagreed entirely how about this? I'll bet you that Brayshaw's supercoach score tomorrow is less than Matt Jones' average score from last year. Deal/?
  15. doesn't change the fact that we should be picking the team that is best placed to win the football match, and if he's not there yet he shouldn't be selected yet devlopment also occurs at casey fields
  16. interesting that you can apparently have form without even playing
  17. do you really think i will be suckered into this childish, pedantic attempt at baiting? you know exactly what i mean, i have made it very clear several times now 'moonshadow likes this' lol
  18. i know I am on a bit of a negative bender at the moment, but I feel like the 'footy world' views a high draft pick debuting for the MFC as: 'hhmmm yeah we've seen this, happens every year for no result.. what else is going on?'
  19. nobody, I mean nobody, is that insane moon you have to be a realist though and look at whats happened with all our high picks since Cale Morton (even McLean and Sylvia) fingers crossed that under a new regime we get it right from now on
  20. There's also Trengove coming off the LTI and another good prospect with about pick 6 (I spose)
  21. can someone remind me, I believe Grimes was a genuine midfielder as a junior wasn't he? Just like Watts was a genuine KPF. Both have ended up flankers. Boy have we been stiff
  22. Are you going to discuss football in any way, shape or form at any stage Or do you think we would rather read your critique of another poster
  23. why aren't we allowed to raise the question of whether a player selection was the correct call? seems to me like an entirely appropriate discussion on a footy talk website I'm bloody excited too, the two thoughts aren't mutually exclusive
  24. surely I don't need to explain that I wasn't suggesting he would have zero touches He needs to do more to contribute to a win than one of the blokes he tipped out (Grimes/MJones) would have done
