Dees v Dockers - Round 5
Curry & Beer replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
The other way to look at it is that TMac is a running machine, if we force Pav to try to keep him with him going the other way, his aging legs will be run ragged, and TMac could setup a lot of rebound play while simultaneously wearing out the Pav. He's also one of the best spoilers in the comp and should hardly let any space get between and his man so Pav's contested marking should be just about nullified -
'putting their bodies on the line' you have got to be joking me. 500k regardless of tax is a stupid amount for any individual to get, let alone someone who gets to play footy for their job. You know, footy, that thing that millions of other people do as a recreational activity. Maybe if you are an ER doctor and you literally save lives every day. Strange world we live in.

agreed, those odds seem way off the mark for mine, Freo had the Eagles by 11 goals at half time they are ordinary at best -

we were paying 9.50 against the Crows and we got within 4 goals we were paying 3.50 last week and we won by 5 goals this week we are paying 4.85 will we be surprising everyone again, or is it a case that they should not be surprised -

I am confident Roosy will again dominate the trade/draft period like he has the last 2 years. As you say, he has probably replaced 3-5 players each year through making the right delistings and identifying good targets at other clubs. It is also handy that we seem to be a club all of a sudden who drafts 18 year olds and they actually contribute significantly in their first 1/2 years. This has been nearly unknown in the pre-Roos years. Of course it is important that Roosy is changing the culture/mindset of the group, and training us well, performing in the box on game day etc etc but IMO his list management in the off-season hs been the biggest highlight of his appointment thus far, he is nailing it. -

but you didn't mention Newton, Frost and Vandenburg. Brayshaw playing every game since R1 was also very unlikely. Not arguing for the sake of it, just saying that if you went back to a pre-NAB thread naming best22s, I'm sure you'd find a hell of a lot of people other than Saty naming those 4 players (Grimes on the field, 1 or 2 of the others on the bench). Don't get me wrong, I agree with your assessment of these players and am thrilled that these newbies have stepped up to replace them, and we are a better side for it, but its a bit rough to sledge Saty on that basis. -
isn't he one of the many 'contact talks on hold' players?

Dees v Dockers - Round 5

I don't think that's fair - prior to the NAB cup, very few people were suggesting that Van Damme, Newton, Frost, Kent, JKH, Brayshaw and Hogan would all have established themselves so well and been named as often - that is the reason Grimes, McKenzie, M.Jones, Bail etc have been squeezed out -
This is absolutely my tip for how(e) it will play out. Roosy will use the loss of a secondary player to land the big fish he almost landed last year

I don't get you - wouldn't we want GWS to have as high a pick as possible if that's the pick we will be getting for Howe?

yeah well the MFC of Round 5, 2015 is not exactly the same comparison as wooden spoon Saints of 2014 edit here is the ladder going into that game. with 5 rounds to go Freo are a game off having a home qualifying final, how can you imply they had nothing to play for, that is garbage SY 17 52 138.8 HW 17 52 138.0 GE 17 52 112.1 FR 17 48 133.2 -

Dockers lost to the Saints by 10 goals at Etihad in R18 last year We have been playing excellent footy in parts We have injuries but our top 10-15 will all be out there We love the G and having the crowd on our side ala R1 Absolutely in the contest -
9 and a draw actually http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_ladder?year=2015&pt=PD&st=AQ&sb=p

cheer up sad sacks. I really liked that Emma Quayle article with Mission talking about how Hogan's time injured was used to make him a better player, and that they are doing the same with Petracca. I don't know why this thread has a tone like Kent will never be the same player again. We might win less games, which sucks, but in the long run it is not important. Besides, there are 15 others whom I would select before Kent, be thankful its not <censored>

LOL, it sounds cruel, but I know what you mean. As annoyed as I am about our injury list, I'm actually positive about the fact that we are going to see at least 2 of: Toumpas, Grimes, Terlich, M.Jones, Bail, Pederson and Gawn out there this week. We are not currently the side that was getting poleaxed every week, we have some confidence and our system is working somewhat efficiently. We just might find that the 'try hards' look a whole lot better in this environment. At least it gives us some intel as to who will be discarded at the end of the year.

exactly right I reckon you could get more insight from a footy-crazed 12 year old than you get with Brian Taylor.. but I suppose we are supposed to be compensated with his wacky, oafish behaviour.. hilarious, Brian... the media is a complete disgrace these days

uummmmmmmmmmm that is EXACTLY the same as saying 'it is never OK to hit someone' which is the point I am arguing I'm stopping now though because I am having flashbacks of your insane, pointless, 'arguing for a reason that is unclear with a point that is equally unclear' pedantry and i'm just not up for it today thankyouverymuch

In reality the season is almost a write-off.. these estimates are nearly always shorter than the reality and then there is a couple of weeks at Casey probably. Might get a few more games at the end. Bugger.

Dees v Dockers - Round 5
Curry & Beer replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
The point is that it's a strange comment. We would obviously like Kent and Jetta, along with Viney, Frost, Trengove and Petracca to be available for selection as we take on the top side. It is magnified by our terrible depth. The fact that we managed to beat poor old Richmond without those 2 is hardly relevant to this week and the rest of the season. -
How have I misrepresented what the poster meant? He said there is 'never' an occasion where it is OK to hit someone which is obviously incorrect. 90% of the country agrees with me that the reaction was indeed proportionate and in fact light, if anything. Why are you fighting for the rights of drunken cretins to be getting in the face of innocent people on the street. If you don't behave like that, you won't have to worry about somebody breaking your jaw. It's very simple.
