  1. sounds very good looks like the notion of waiting til years end has been binned, it has been decided that there is too much pressure on Tom and the Club so its time to knock it over
  2. well they had plenty out too but it was about even in terms of 'fullstrengthyness' so it's still not great because they are nothing special
  3. i am filthy on the performance but i don't know why you are pointing that out. 'Best available' in this case constituted a side missing Scully, Frawley, McKenzie, Wonaeamirri, Petterd and Morton all of whom are in my best 22 we were shizen but to say they were at signifigantly less strength than us is garbage
  4. this is demonland's 'vent your spleen' thread, not the MCG
  5. no I can read a calendar 3 preaseasons, which is 3 more than Jack Viney smartalec
  6. haha now it's about fatherhood is it? a bit like the comment the other day that bagging North Melbourne is like being a schoolyard bully the finest football analysis brains of demonland i tell you what I hope our coaching panel aren't as soft and warm and cuddly as you lot, this is a football club spew
  7. effing ripper i was sure they were going to have us playing GWS on Pitcairn Island we better demolish that pathetic rabble without mercy
  8. no I think Bailey recognised and continues to maintain the bloke is an obvious Full Back so the correct move is to leave him there to develop into the finest FB he can be, and so far it is working a treat 'robbing peter to pay paul' is all it comes down to
  9. oh yeah him too whoops but even he was traded in 2004 for pick 15 used on Lynden Dunn, who will likely be of more value for a flag than DJ would have been/will be
  10. 3 years is the same as zero is it, moronic comment most of you lot hold your criticisms (under the guise of 'support') until about year 7 then you are standing around wondering why Brad Miller never made it the bar has to be raised higher at this club or we will continue to not produce stars and not win premierships blokes taken at #1 in particular need to start acting like it
  11. yes clearly Bailey has stuffed up the development of James Frawley who took a whopping four years to become an AA KPD he could have been playing forward that whole time if only Bailey was more reckless!
  12. you have to back the club - in the last decade we have had a grand total of ONE player leave the club that has gone on to do anything of note. That player was Scott Thompson. They couldn't keep him and did fairly well to get Moloney as a replacement
  13. well you probably said the same thing about Bate when he was 19
  14. yeah but unfortunately last week was the exception, not this week I tend to get pizzed off when a player demonstrates their ability but then cannot seem to reproduce it. Morton is exactly the same. Dozens of blokes before them at this club over the last decade have been the same.
  15. How old is he again? I don't think you've mentioned it enough times. In my book being 19 is not a gold pass to playing rubbish. Yes he didn't get good delivery into the forward-line, but in nearly every instance he failed to even influence the contest, he didn't know where to go and he didn't even hit his opponent in marking contests, just gave nothing. What makes it even more frustrating is that he was pretty good last week, he didn't need to be defended then, so what was the problem this week? Yeah I already said I don't care if it is a preseason match. Everyboody has Jamar in their sights as marking target particularly from kickouts, he needs to actually mark a few. What does your final 'point' even mean? Yes they wanted to win, so no excuses
  16. yes good post, that was probably my biggest concern too along with the 2008 style completely rudderless/brainless kicking it to nobody, handballing to blokes under pressure etc
  17. Frawley's a textbook full back Put Watts on the ball I say
  18. hmmm it was a bit different this year. I have no doubt the club was deadset on winning that match I don't think we will miss Bruce. I have rewatched most of our best performances from last year (including losses eg the Dogs, Pies) and by and large when we were purring it had very little to do with Bruce
  19. Mate the fact is that a team sheet lists 5 midfielders but in reality you have a squad of them that rotate through the pockets, flanks and bench, so you end up taking about 9 to 11 midfielders to a match. You need that whole group to be a solid performing unit, you can't have any weak links when you are takling premiership sides. So the challenge is for the group below: Davey - obvious gun, has skill and creativity like nobody else in the side and few in the comp. However, can definitely go missing under pressure. Moloney - as tough and as passionate as you could ever get but lacking in class, brains and speed Sylvia - probably our best all-round footballer who has found a level of consistency. Explosive at times, he is crucial to the recipe Jones - see Moloney Bail - decent player who cannot kick. Worth persevering with though Grimes - may spend more time off HBF than in the midfield. Great player with a few disposal question marks. Quality clubman Morton - like Watts has been spoilt with natural gifts but is yet to capitalise on them. Could be anything even a KPP McKenzie - good all round player. Blease - ? Scully - possibly the no.1 AFL star of the next decade Gysberts - ? Trengove - see Scully and Jack Viney - ? All in all it is a pretty good group, but only the ones I have bolded can I say at this stage I am confident they are worthy of being part of a premiership midfield squad
  20. This is Strauss' 3rd year now and he has shown ziltch. Someone said 'Scotch XVIII' and I agree. I think it is completely fair to mark a player liek Watts harshly. He obviously has ability so if he is not producing there is clearly some problem with the player or the way the club is developing him. We are trying to breed champions, not another generation like the last, where we had a side of B+ players who went missing in the big moments. and on Jamar, I commented on the match, not his permanent status. I don't care if it is a praccy or not, he is clearly a designated marking target and on nearly every occasion the other night he failed to catch anything even when outsizing his opponent dramatically, and this hurt us badly. I can't beleieve you just excuse those senior players, particularly Davey. They were out to win that match. Grimes said he was very disappointed not to be progressing into the third round of the pre-season competition. “It’s another game where you pull on the Melbourne footy club jumper and you represent your club. You go out to win - nothing else,” he said adamantly.
  21. explain to me what the other 14 blokes having a bad game has to do with anything please oh hes 19 then OK let him play like a woman for the next 100 games, I'll keep quiet
  22. 1. Liam Jurrah is the Elvis Presley of the AFL 2. Many of our so-called young guns have huge question marks over aspects of their games 3. Our club continues, perpetually, to be mentally and physically weak as pizz
  23. the first three have done nothing or almost nothing
