Trade and Free Agency rumours
Apart from Bruce at a pinch none of those Dogs talls can second ruck (would be a huge risk using Darcy in that role next year). Darcy is also likely to play down back. They’ll turn their talls from a weakness to a strength by adding multiple pieces. Lobb’s just a piece too, not a huge cost. Jackson clearly isn’t keen on West Coast. He’s not leaving us in contention for a 2 win side. Reason 1 for Freo getting Jackson: 2 rucks who can both hold their own forward and play the ruck role differently is a huge advantage. Takes a lot of pressure off the key forwards. Reason 2: Darcy is a free agent at the end of 2024 and I reckon Freo know he’s either going to cost a fortune and/or head home then. They have the cap space and trade resources now to lock Jackson in and can then make a call on Darcy in 2 years time.

CASEY: QF vs Sydney
Would be a great idea in 1985.

CASEY: QF vs Sydney
Had a shocking day but his kicking has been great most of the year. If he gets his mobility back from awful to the standard very ordinary he’ll be ok depth again. Kicking is the least of his worries

CASEY: QF vs Sydney
Dunstan, Brown, Tomlinson, Bedford and Chandler are all very good Casey players and Tommy Mc’s obviously a level above. But it probably is strange to see a very dominant VFL side without a deep crop of players who are really pushing for AFL selection. There’s not the standard collection of 30+ disposal winning fringe midfielders.

I’ve liked Sam’s game but Sinclair isn’t near afl standard, he’s well and truly ready to retire and has done a lot of the ruck work, and Ladhams isn’t very clever. Weid’s always been solid and clever at ground level as a follow up ruck. A back up ruck at afl level still has to play forward about 50% of time and make an impact. And they have to stand up in the ruck for 20-50% against actual afl rucks or back ups, who provide a sterner test aerially around the ground. Weid can do that role but whether he can do it consistently enough to hold his spot at afl level I’m not convinced .

CASEY: QF vs Sydney
Massive dump and hit his head hard Poor umpiring. He is vital, but when the whistle has already gone, it’s stupid. There’s nothing hard about late cheap stuff

The New Home Base & Training Ground Thread
The MCC and AFL have a lot of weight to get the Southern Stand rebuilt regardless of government. Expanding that to cover the train lines and redo Richmond station is more likely under Labor, but some part of that will probably be included. It’s years away and wouldn’t be the quick fix solution we want, but could be the answer. It’s just a thought.

CASEY: QF vs Sydney
He’s twice as fast as anyone on this ground and a great defensive worker, but he just doesn’t have the composure - be it gathering the ball or using it. So frustrating

The New Home Base & Training Ground Thread
The AAMI park redevelopment passing by without us being attached is a little worrying. But there’s a massive MCG Southern Stand redevelopment on the horizon that really should include covering the train tracks and redeveloping Richmond station. Maybe a late pivot has been made.

POSTGAME: AFLW Rd 01 vs Adelaide
Chaplin looks a nice depth defender. Strong body and neat skills. Sammy Johnson is interesting, cracks in and works hard. Big mid, runs the wing, 2nd ever game and new club at 30! Good on her Ivey seems a good worker, keen to see more. CHF always tricky at a new club Cant wait to see Goldy back and hopefully Blaith too. The more we run the better we play
