  1. I also believe aussie is a tad overrated on this forum. Fair enough, he finished 2nd in the goal kicking in his first season, but let's face it, that was for a team that finished 16th. I have Aussie and Jurrah in the same category, still not sure if they will become permanent MFC players for the next decade. They both have the obvious ability, and LJ has the obvious X-Factor, but when I look at the likes of Grimes (who has played similar games to Aussie), you can see where I am coming from. Consistency is a big key for these two boys, if they can show it, that will take us to another level. My thoughts are not questioning their ability in any way, as we all know, they are both freakish, I just hope that once they have played around teh 40 games, I can get back on here and say they are worthy of the hype. FWIW - I wouldn't have Aussie in my starting 22 should all players be available - LJ would be in a forward pocket. Maybe that's because it's been so long since we have seen Aussie play!
  2. 6. Jamar 5. McDonald 4. Moloney 3. Sylvia (didn't think he was doing a huge amount first up, but ended up with 5!) 2. Scully (man crush) 1. Bail
  3. While it is an obvious concern when some of our better players are out of contract, I'm not losing too much sleep over who may or may not go at the end of the year. I'm sure the club will secure the players we need to, and it wont be that hard providing at seasons end, every one of our listed players can sit down and think "[censored], we have taken a massive step forward, and a flag may be within reach". On the other hand though, we are still coming off back-to-back spoons. I'm sure there are a lot of players in the league who are on the radar of these clubs, and when we are struggling to have a player in the top 50 of the league, the amount of targeted players on our list would be minimal compared to other clubs. Just my opinion!
  4. Deeflog - I am more than happy to say that I have not been a big fan of Junior's for many years. I have taken a lot of interest in him this year with a young list, and admit that he is playing a massive role in the development of the entire team. It is obvious he has the respect from fellow players, coaching staff, and even the opposition. At this stage, I think he could be a vital resource for 2011. However, let's get to the end of 2010 before we even dream about 2011 - while he seems to be getting better with age, that stops at some stage.
  5. As they said on the Fox coverage today, by playing 1 designated ruck rather than 2, it means we have 1 extra running-type in our team. If we play 2, it means a runner will have to sit out. Thought Dunn did really well as a back-up. Obviously not a great alternative, but while it's working it's hard to state a case to fix it.
  6. Play Stef Martin. He can control the ruck in our half, Jamar can drop back in the defensive half and help out the defenders. Will also mean Merritt will most likely play on Martin, somewhat freeing up Sylvia, Green and Petterd. If our defenders can win, Melbourne can win.
  7. E25, excuse my ignorance, bu what is this compensation system that you keep talking about? I didn't think there was one - GC17 had access to 1 uncontracted from each Club, providing they stay under the salary cap. I thought it was Geelong wanting some form of compensation for when G Ablett leaves. I think we will be pretty safe - I'd think we would have Jamar and Petterd signed up toward the end of the season. Why can I be so confident? The amount of money GC17 will be paying Ablett will mean they will only be able to chase no more than 6 players from other clubs. I'd think there will be better player on their radar.
  8. Smart coaching?
  9. In: Sylvia, Martin Out: Newton, Bruce Bruce wont get dropped, but can't think of any others that deserve to be dropped. Unless Flash doesn't come up from the "slight hamstring".
  10. Don't misquote then - simple. Sh!ts me to tears when people are accused of inaccurate things from people misquoting or misparaphrasing. Also, don't accuse me of editing a post so I can brag. The posts I edited were well before team sheets were lodged, and the only reason I did it was so Nasher didn't have a heart attack. Question - is Titan Uranus and Nasher 1 person? Whatever the answer, read my posts tool. I was right, and an admin was wrong. More than happy to move on, as long as my request for consistency from Admin is accepted. Very similar to AFL umpires!
  11. Bailey's fault? Or just pressure of the moment? Ever played the game Clint? I thought not.
  12. A big difference between hands in the back and push in the back. There were definite hands in the back, and because of the milking that took place, the umpire had to pay a free. No cheating from either side; don't forget, we had a pretty good 5 minutes or so early in the last when things went our way.
  13. While their fitness is amazing, Scully was well and truly spent late in the 2nd quarter. I felt so sorry for him - he just couldn't chase any more!
  14. Bad comment, was easily a free kick. Thought it was Scully that got the poke in the eye.
  15. Where did I say this?
  16. Again I will ask, was it an educated guess? To stop this rot - I knew he was in, but refuse to reveal my source.
  17. Stefan Martin in for Newton?
  18. Agree!!! It is a grand old flag! Just want consistency from Admin, that's all mate.
  19. Was it uneducated?
  20. Hating people saying it was an ugly win. It was how the game was played, and judging the last 2 AFL games we have played against each other, it looks like it could be a common theme. Also hating people saying if we played a different opponent we would have got flogged. Maybe, just maybe it could have been this "game plan" that Bailey doesn't seem to have. We were the underdogs, could have been blown away after half time, perhaps Bailey instructed them to play a different style. Anyone think of that?????????
  21. Not sure the need for these 3 word player analysis sorry Joe Boy - tends to make not much sense at all. Bruce - far from reliable all game Garland - wasn't steady and reliable today. He will get better, but wasn't steady and reliable Newton - What was the important role? He was woeful. I stuck up for him just last week, saying the club need to give him 6 games to prove his worth, I think he has proved it over the past few seasons. Not long until he's Gawn, sorry, Gone!
  22. 6. Frawley 5. Jamar 4. Jnr McDonald 3. Bennell 2. Grimes 1. Green
  23. Perfect thread! There will be a lot of people that will wish they never posted some things they have, and then they expect to come back as if they said nothing! Well done Bailey, contract extension surely approved by some members now? Well done Benny, played your guts out! Well done Junior - I was a doubter, but today was the best game I have seen you play, great leadership. Well done everyone else, you bloody beauty!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Seems that we're not allowed to say that he IS playing without revealing a source, you are right in assuming that Col MIGHT play today Barry!
