Just crystal balling here but Collingwood, by going for the now, may be a masterstroke. If they give Tassie a heap of picks but make them trade a bunch of them for established players, the Pies, after having had their run, then ship off a bunch of these older players for a heap of early picks, letting them rebuild really quickly. It is almost like that would be perfect for the AFL, the pies maybe winning another flag or two but then not really having to bottom out. I would never accuse the AFL of letting the pies know of their plans for Tassie beforehand as we all know that if there is one 100% ethical organisation in the land, it is the AFL! Just my thoughts. I hope that clubs burns to the ground but I'm never that lucky.

I'm hearing that we will be playing the cats twice next year with one of our sold home games being us playing them down there also.

Ok, I've got some more mail on all of this. Melbourne is now looking to package up Oliver and Petracca to Geelong for a future 4th rounder and we pay $2m of their contract each year till they die. Apparently Trac got on board once he was shown that he could be the new face of a Farm to Plate cooking show with all produce being produced on his new farm that he has apparently been given by some guy on Instagram with the handle of #cottononcosta Oliver is happy to go now too as he's been shown that any off field indiscretions are only in the news for a maximum of 15 minutes. Plus, with Geelong being close to the water, he will be able to directly fish his taped up packages from Mexico directly from his seafront property.

The only way that I would accept the rubbish that we will get for him would be if the club actually grew a backbone and specifically came out and basically gave a list of reasons why he has to be out. It does not have to be exact but list things like missing specific behaviour related goals/KPIs etc etc. Basically trash the player so that we as members say "ok, he is terrible, we need to get rid of him..." I know the club wouldn't do it but the way we just seem to roll over and accept things like being told we are not a big enough/relevant enough club (Trac) or that we can't handle players with too many issues (Oliver) really gets on my nerves and makes my dream of us being a powerful/successful club even more of nothing but a dream.

I also really question how Goodwin can continue. All reports are that is saying that they can control Clayton and get best out of him but the higher ups are saying no you can't, we have to get him out. If a board does not think a coach can get the best out of his players when why is that coach still there?

This is going to really bite us in the future. I believe at best now we may get a second rounder and when Oliver's money really spikes which is tied to TPP increases in the future, we are going to be paying close to $1m of his salary at the cats. If we ever put a contract longer than 1 week to a player in the future, I will spew up!!
-
Knowing our club, we will get rid of Oliver but bring in JUH!!
-
We are prepared to take a second rounder if the cats pay $500k of his contract. we may as well put Pickett and petracca up now, just get it over and done with
-
Could we also brand the kitchen/catering facilities the Petracca cooking academy or something in line with his branding?
-
The 'someone' is directly involved in the decision making process that probably wouldn't want me posting on a public forum their name, phone number, position etc. Either way, probably no need to post your response 5 times...

I hope the wires have been crossed somehow but talking to someone in the Premiers office and they told me that there is no way this goes ahead. I am hoping he just means there is no way they get funding from the Govt but will wait and see.

Blues are missing Petracca tonight

The way we are going, maybe we should be like other leagues and just get players on loan and not have anyone actuallly contracted to us!
-
Easily 5-6 weeks and loss of first round draft picks

Good win. Hey, did anyone know that Gold Coast were going for their 11th win of the year which would be their best year ever?? only heard that every few minutes for the whole game…

Would it be something to do with the Olympics and trying to start the game before the live stuff starts?

Why are we continuously being beaten in clearances?
Age replied to DeeZee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Given how quickly we have fixed up the forward line, I expect the clearances to be sorted by some time mid 2028 -
He will go to the cats for the vacant land they provide him, that, all luck to him and the other players, gets re-zoned for quite a windfall a little down the track...
-
Good that they keep working on their forward craft!
-
It's a shame we can't loan Petty out like in the premier league so he could play us and get back into form. We are the competition kings at playing an out of form opponent into form!!
-
Already on them. At least get something out of the night
-
Looking at the Roos today, I think we start thinking about who we are going to get with pick 1
-
This is exactly what I am expecting out of this year too! Gawn and Petracca (after fighting to get fit) both do their knees in the game and miss all of 2025

Time for a Change….Don’t wait another 2 years…
Age replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
Whilst I respect people's thoughts that winning a flag and top 4 in the previous 2 years should give Goodwin the right to stay and fix the problems, I am completely the other way. We lose the same way every single time, we have no forward line and I know this is a first world problem, but even when we have won in the last few years, I doubt many of us would have been happy and excited with the win. When we were rubbish, we were consistently belted by the top teams, when we became a top team, I had hoped that we would give back some of these beltings but we very rarely ever did. A good coach will implement a plan that hopefully gets the best out of his players, ours has instead gone away from a plan that was at least somewhat working over the last few years to something that our list simply cannot do. For those reasons I cannot give him a pass to right things, he has to go. -
We will kid ourselves. Goodwin will get his way and keep the team pretty much as is for the next year or so. We will then become completely uncompetitive, even more so than now and then Goodwin will walk away for ‘personal reasons’ and we will be at the bottom when tassie comes in, resulting in an even worse period in our history than the Neeld era
