Well, being twenty feet from many of his contests, I thought he work his arsed off. He probably had 5 or 6 tackles and in the last quarter when it looked like we were coming, he was the one holding the ball in our forwardline. I thought his defensive pressure was excellent. He still needs kicking lessons, but he worked a lot harder than many give him credit for, therefore 1 vote. That said, it would be difficult to come up with 7 or 8 players that played well on Sunday. We didn't have many.

Agreed, Nasher. Well said. You could tell, even from his practice shots before the match, that he dreads kicking at goal. Mostly, because rightly or wrongly, the supporters get on his back if he does the slightest thing wrong.

His defensive pressure was great. Fix the kicking and he might still be a player. I watched him take a number of set shots in the pre-match warm up and he was taking them from about 30-35 out and hooking them quite a way. The ball drop seems to be the problem. That and lack of confidence.

I would have thought that was a pretty good crowd for Manuka. The stand at the Sydney cheersquad end was a little empty and there weren't too many in the standing area on the wing, but everywhere else was pretty full.

I watched a couple of times as Jurrah limped off to the bench. He may not have seemed injured amongst the play, but it seemed to hurt him. It took him a while to get back out there in the first place too. I wouldn't be surprised if they give him the week off, next week.

Having been there and watching that contest all day, Morton gave him an absolute bath! He outplayed him to the extent that Goodes stood around hands on hips for the majority of the last quarter. Brilliant game, Cale. How he didn't get in the best, is totally beyond me. Gee, he's an exciting kid. Oh and Bailey was certainly being devious with his use of Cale on Goodes. Roos shifted Goodes into the middle to shrug the tag and Bailey didn't bother playing Morton on him in the middle, instead had Dunn running with him and straight away he got a couple of cheap possessions. But Cale picked him up for the majority of the match. I think I counted 5 or 6 possessions that he had on Cale all day. Like the game against the Eagles, where Bailey had Flash sitting on the bench to start the last quarter, he left Morton on the bench to start the last quarter and let Sydney get a goal, before bringing him back on.

I've thought all along that we should take Trengove with pick 2, should we get it, but I know that Bailey and co. have already stated they want another KPP and a midfielder, so whilst many of us hope they go with another midfielder, what you will probably find is John Butcher in Melbourne colours. Btw, it's not a bad name that.

I felt horrible. We drove all the way to the ACT to watch a match I hoped we would lose. I know the importance of the PP and in particular one, Tom Scully. I don't want mediocrity, I want premiership success. The picks are huge incentives.

He's never been able to earn my respect and this year has been the final straw. He's been a good player, but he's not part of our future plans and therefore, why continue to play him? He's only list clogging really.

I disagree. And it's obvious Bailey thinks so as well. That shouldn't stop you from doing the one percenters. Neita never stopped. If he did these things, I wouldn't fault him.

1) he's by far the most selfish footballer I've ever seen in an MFC jumper (and I've been to the majority of matches played over the past 15 or 16 years). How do you bring a younger player into the contest, if you're selfish? 2) a leader is someone who leads by example- that is, puts on chases, puts on a sheppard- does the one percenters. This year, he's been on the ground most of the time. Flash has lead our offensive tackles over the last 4 to 5 years. Where was Robbo? 3) Melbourne Vs Hawthorn. Need I say more? 4) It's all about Robbo. He's not about the team.

And does that mean Jetta, Valenti and McKenzie won't be playing for the Dees, considering they're actually named in the starting line up?

You're probably right, but it'll probably depend on what each club needs and wants. Hawthorn and St Kilda for example might not want another key forward prospect, considering their key position players already.

Why waste time with an older head, that has proven he lacks the leadership to foster any of our younger talent coming through? Play the kids. Besides, pre season or no pre season, his legs seem shot. Surely you've noticed this? The role he plays is one where he barely moves outside the 50. The workload for a professional athlete, with his physical output would be miniscule. I'd keep Whelan and Wheatley well before I'd keep Robbo. Paul certainly has a little bit left in him, but if they move him on, I wouldn't be surprised. Whilst, Wheels is still reasonably solid down back.

I'd have Jetta for Maric at this stage, as the former applies more pressure on the ball carrier and has an equal creativity to Maric. I'm not saying I wouldn't play Maric next year, just I'd let him earn his spot. So far this season, especially over the last few weeks, Jet has earnt his spot. My forwardline would probably look something like this: Petterd Bate Jetta Wonna Watts Jurrah I understand it's inexperienced, but working together over an entire season, with hopefully elite ball disposal from the middle, would be the perfect learning curve for me, next year. Add a Newton in there to balance up the structure, as a second tall (Bate playing the third tall role). Hopefully, we'd also have someone like a Carsile from Vic Metro to develop over the year, so I'd give him some game time, after a few rounds. Maybe even Morton or Green thrown in there. While Sylvia could rest in there as well.
